Re: Coventry I played at Gcasino Walsall last Friday. It was a £5 rebuy. God was it aweful. Even after the rebuy period the play was shocking. What shocked me though was only 60 entries roughly. I remember a few years ago that casino getting 130+ runners on fridays and saturdays.

Re: Coventry Ive played at Coventry a fair few times, It's a beautiful casino and has a look similar to Vegas casinos ( more than any other in the uk ). The Manager Quentin is very friendly, well all the card room staff are very good and extremely friendly. They run good tourney's, the registration fees for the tourney's used to be a little heavy but the structures were very good. They also used to do a deal for rooms linked to the hotel. ( £40 pn inc breakfast casino rate ). They also run a badbeat jackpot in the 1/2 cash game which is a good game... :) They have a nice bar next to the card room with some really good entertainment and an additional bar on the casino floor. They have a really nice Indian restaurant there and also a separate bar menu which is really good. The parking is good it is in the Rioch and you have to go through barriers, don't make the mistake of paying to get out, take your ticket to the casino reception and they let you out for free. Their schedule is here : http://www.gcasino.co.uk/coventry/pokerschedule.php Hope this helps :)

Re: Coventry I've cash in a few tourneys there my best being 2nd place which was a nice result, they don't get a huge amount of runners but the prize pools are normally pretty good especially in the rebuys as they can get a bit crazy. Friday and Saturday nights are definitely busier and if its a match day there is a lot more extra value with some very drunk football supporters attending. From what I remember there were between 5 and 7 tables for the tourney's of a weekend.

Re: Coventry Thanks for the heads up on the preferential hotel rate CKitty. Was about to book an out of town Travelodge for my trip in October to avoid paying the quoted £120 rate, but will instead give them a call and negotiate a preferential rate :ok

Re: Coventry

Hmm...all I can find is this (but I'm not sure what FO/td means):
£15 NLH FO/td> 8:30pmChips 7,500
Hi Lemonballer, I play a lot at the G Cov (at least once a week). The Friday comp is getting much better now. It used to be self deal but they now have dealers virtually all the time on a Friday night. £15 + £4 admin. I would also suggest it's worth an extra £1 to enter the Royal Flush Jackpot they run. Thereby making it a total £20 which isn't bad for a Friday night out IMO. Last week it had 60 runners so it has the feel of decent comp without the need to arrive home after the milkman if you make the final table. A few tips. If you register at least 1 hour prior to start time (7.30 latest) you get an extra 20% of chips added to your stack, so 1,500 on a Friday. You can I believe even enter over the phone at the cash desk though I've not done this yet. Also if you make the Final table of any normal weekly comp you get an invite to a special freeroll that starts at 6.30pm on a Saturday. This comp has just 3 prizes in the form of GUKPT vouchers (like getting Tesco club points!). Winner £75, 2nd £50 and 3rd £25. It only has about 10 turn up. If you want to go any week and would just like someone to be able to say hello to when you arrive let me know.

Re: Coventry Yeah td is probably "table dealt". Can be a bit of a nightmare, but there'll often be one person who agrees to deal for everyone (usually me lol). I got my drinks bought for me all night last time I did it :) Cash games were very juicy the couple of times I've played, as always in casinos. I remember a hand where a guy called down all the way with 10 high no draw, and even tried to go into his pocket to call a bet which was more than he had left on the table. I can recommend the Pink tribute act if you can catch her, although she's more like a Pink's mum tribute act :lol The executive room upgrade at the hotel is well worth it too, £20ish extra when I stayed there. You get a room double the size, roll-top bath, and a real bed (the pitch view rooms have horrible fold-down ones, as they're used as boxes during matches). Oh, and the pear tart in the hotel restaurant is amazing!
