Calculating my own odds

Over the past couple of weeks I've started calculating my own odds with a view to seeing if my selection represents value. I wont go into the value question as this has been done to death but I do have a few questions that some of more experienced members might be able to help with. 1) I use RPR as a base rating should I make amendments to this value? 2) a lot of odds come back the same and this is due to the same RPR rating, is there anyway of amending these to more realisitic values and in line with the printed forecasts? I think it doenst really matter as an outsider is an outsider regardless of the odds 3) are there any decent articles on the web, I've found a few on 2yr olds but cantfind anything on handicaps or pattern racing
