NBA 1* (707) DALLAS MAVERICKS +1 After sweeping a 4game home stand the Mavericks hit the road to play the Knicks, Celtics and Bobcats. Apparently they were getting tired of being at home as in their last game they did just enough to win, exasperating their Coach. Dirk is getting his legs back and having Brian Cardinal starting certainly doesn’t look pretty but they do have an extremely talented bench with Barea, Marion, Terry and Haywood. They also are in the top10 both FG% departments and allowing 94ppg makes them one of the best teams in that category, although that’s partially thanks to its low pace style. Most important, they are 5-1 ATS as a 3point or less underdog on the road, recording a 5-1 SU as well against teams like Thunder, Grizzlies, Hawks and Magic which are teams above the quality of this opponent. The Knicks have been great ATS this season, going a profitable 29-16 ATS overall. However they are just 4-3 ATS and SU in this point spread value at home, and at this price they have received the Bobcats, Rockets, Warriors, Bulls (without Noah), Hawks, Thunder and Nuggets (without Melo) hence I like this game as much as it gets in the NBA. Dallas is a streaky team; consider that they are 12-4 ATS and 14-3 SU after 3 or more consecutive wins, I like this 5game winning streak to continue with a Mavs win and revenge from the home humiliation from last season. Take the Mavericks NBA 1* (703) INDIANA PACERS -5.5 When you don’t defend, don’t score and don’t rebound is difficult to beat any team. Hence is not a surprise that this Cleveland team has won 2 (two) games since the beginning of December! That’s a result of several things going wrong in this organization, there was a lack of talent to begin with and the injuries just made it worse (Eyenga and Harris are starters). They have been horrible covering spreads also, going 16-31-1 ATS overall and just 6-14 at home. In other words, Cleveland is a horrible team without talent, direction or hope in the near future. Not a team to back in this range, especially against a team that is just looking up and has all the tools to reach the playoffs, a hunger, young and talented Pacers squad that will take any game it can. Indiana is 12-5 SU overall as a favorite, a perfect 8-0 ATS as a 5+ point favorite and the Cavaliers on the other hand are just 1-4 ATS and 0-5 SU as a home dogs from 6.5-9points, not to mention a woeful 6-17 ATS and 1-24 SU when revenging a loss… I do feel for them, but I will take advantage of this good investment.
