teaulc
HA poker is a game that mixes both pot limit hold’em and pot limit Omaha. The game changes back and forth between hold’em and Omaha every set amount of time or after a set number of hands. For example, the play may switch back and forth between hold’em and Omaha every 15 minutes. In order to be a successful HA player you have to be a good pot limit hold’em player, as well as a solid pot limit Omaha player. A player that can mix proficiency in both of these game types will be a winning HA poker player. This is one of the most popular mixed poker games played online. The first game in HA Poker is pot limit hold’em. This is almost the same as no limit hold’em except that the maximum bet allowed is equal to the amount that is currently in the pot. Because you are only allowed to bet the size of the pot, there are some slight strategy changes when moving from no limit to pot limit hold’em. The main difference is in drawing hands. In no limit hold’em you will probably want to keep the pot small when you are on a draw and try to make it a bigger pot once you make your hand. In pot limit hold’em you cannot do this because if the pot is small when you make your hand on the river, you are only able to bet the pot which may make for a relatively small pot even though you made a strong hand. Therefore, in pot limit hold’em you should bet out when you have a strong draw. This way if you do make the hand you will have a greater chance to win a much larger pot. Other than this pot limit hold’em plays very similar to no limit hold’em, without that massive bets and all-in bets preflop. The second game in HA poker is pot limit Omaha high. In Omaha you are dealt 4 down cards and must use two of them with the 5 community cards to make a 5 card poker hand. A main difference between hold’em and Omaha is that in Omaha it is more common to make stronger hands such as straights and flushes because you have 2 extra hole cards that you can use to make your hand. For this reason you should not feel that your hands are good, just because they would likely be good in hold’em. For example, if you make a flush in Omaha and there is a pair on the board this doesn’t necessarily mean you have the best hand. Often times a player will have made a full house and if you value your flush too high, this could end up costing you a lot chips. Omaha is much more of a drawing game than hold’em. There are often times when you will have not even made a pair but still be the favourite on the turn if you have a flush draw and a couple of different straight draws. A good starting hand would have a lot of connectors and a couple pairs of suited cards. In order to be successful playing HA poker you have to be able to switch back and forth between hold’em and Omaha easily. This means you can’t get caught up in your hold’em frame of mind and start thinking your hand is good in Omaha when you actually have a weak hand
