Jump Racing - Friday 22nd Oct

16:55 Fakenham First ever bet at Fakenham I think! And it goes to the Chris Bealby chase debutant Reelwill, in this 2m5f handicap. Seems a bit of a strange one, especially as Sean Og and Great Ocean Road come with some impressive winning form (albeit at this pathetically low grade). They will be however, a bit too short in the market with some of the doubts I have about them. Feeling Peckish won today but saddles 7lbs extra for that, besides, will possibly be a non-runner anyway (which does ruin the ew terms a bit). Reelwill started her career in decent fashion in a bumper, which was a positive first effort. Has now had 7 runs over hurdles, and only one has been of any credit. At Southwell, over this sort of trip in a maiden hurdle, where she ran really well and was only headed towards the finish. That was a nice performance, which unforunately was not followed up next time over course and distance. It may have, however come too soon for her, being only 2 weeks after the Southwell run. She was allotted at mark of 95 for her handicap debut, and she seemed outclassed on those occasions. The yard reacted by upping her in trip quite heavily, up to 3m3f on one occasion. This looked to be far too far and she didn't stay. Some of these runs also came on softer ground. She definitely doesn't handle it, (as seen by her pulling up effort on her third run) Has had the summer to progress with her jumping, and her best run to date came off a 4 month break, so perhaps there is some hope with that. Is now 25lbs lower than her first start over hurdles, and to me that's a big benefit. If she can rekindle some of her form from that Southwell second, she's in with a big chance today. Their has never really been much problem with her jumping during her career so she should be able to handle the fences, maybe even better than hurdles. I think she can be mildly progressive, especially from such a low mark, on her handicap debut over fences and start by a decent run today. Great Ocean Road won last time, but is up 8lbs and his jumping style could get him into trouble, while Sean Og has to step up in trip, and although consistent, has struggled to win at this trip. With an extra 7lbs he could be worth opposing. The 16's on offer are a decent price, would have liked a bit bigger but the small field puts pay to that, think she has a good chance of getting into the top 2, and possibly even winning this poor contest. Re: Jump Racing - Friday 22nd Oct Fakenham 2.35 Emperor Concerto 1pt win - 11/4 Just the 5 runners here, but quite a competitive affair with the Scottish National 3rd No Panic in the race. He is coming here on the back of 2 very good wins as well. The rest are not out of it either, but I just think there is a lot more to come from my selection. 2nd season chaser, who runs well fresh. Won on seasonal reappearance last year. His last 3rd is behind 2 very good horses. Alan King's Junior and Paul Nicholls' Recif De Thaix. With yard in good form, I think Emperor Concerto will run a big race today. He is unexposed and should be a lot better than 130 rated in time. If fit and ready, I think he'll give me a run for the money. No reason not to be.
