Flat Racing 9th Oct

Recommended Posts

3.40 Ascot Prompter has ran in hot company since his maiden win in august last year and hadnt run with much spice since then but found some form last time out on handicap debut when only 3/4 lengths down on Life and Soul up 2lb for that effort but the very useful Martin Lane takes the ride and claims 3lb so effectively 1lb lighter today and Bell and Lane have teamed up well in these big handicaps and they looked to hold another chance here. 0.5pt e/w prompter 9/1 hills 2.15 York Smarty Socks has finally got his act together having been a hibitual slow start who struggle and slipped down the weights but has since won 2 of last 4 starts and was a decent 2nd to Dhualar Dhar last time out at Musselburgh up 3lb for that effort and now finds himself on career high mark but clearly in form of his life and yard in absolutely cracking at the moment and aslong as getting out on time should still be competitive at a CD he loves with form figures reading 131! 0.5pt e/w smarty socks 12/1 vc 3.55 York Knot In Wood has shown bits n pieces of form to suggest he is capable of picking a race like this up at some point again, he shaped well in ayr gold cup when 2nd of far side group probably found conditions race 2 days later coming far too soon but now finds himself on lowest mark since 2008, and has won off a 3lb higher mark and useful claimer takes off a further 3lb so could be very well handicapped! 0.5pt e/w knot in wood 18/1 corals

Re: Flat Racing 9th Oct 3:40 Ascot: Icon Dream 2pts win 22/1 Victor Chandler & Hunterview 1pt win 12/1 Paddy Power Icon Dream may be worth chancing in this open handicap. He has some respectable form in Group races yet is lining up here off 101 with nine stone. With Sadlers Wells and Northern Dancer in his pedigree he will handle both the going and the trip. Icon Dream has shown a questionable attitude, however with all the equipment on today and Jimmy Fortune to make his mind up he could improve. And can't help but think that David Watchman would not travel over unless he thought Icon Dream could run a decent race. Hunterview represents David Pipe and like his father before him, anything he runs on the flat has to be respected. The stable has not been really firing so far, but Hunterview is sure to be ready and his last run on the flat looks solid when beating Hillview Boy on an easy surface at Doncaster. That runner up went on to run second in the November handicap.
