  1. Re: Northwestern Mutual World Challenge > December 5th - 8th I'm going to keep away from players who haven't played in recent times and go with players who have been active in recent weeks and who have real motivation to go well at Sherwood CC this week. It's worth noting that 'Tiger's tournament' is loaded with OWGR points. For me Rory McIlroy who finished 4th here on course debut in 2010, will relish the chance to go 'head to head' again with TW and his win last week at Royal Sydney will have boosted his confidence to levels not seen across a disappointing season. When it comes to the 'Motivated' column, I'd also add Ian Poulter to the mix, who knows that a win here will get him into the OWGR Top 10. His form is read hot and he's won a tournament in Nov/Dec every season since 2009. I've backed them in the w/o Woods market at Boylesports at 9/2 and 11/1 respectively.

  2. Re: The McGladrey Classic 7-10 Nov The McGladrey Classic at Sea Island GC always makes a pleasant change on the PGA Tour. The Georgia links is on the Atlantic coast and naturally scores are dependant on weather conditions. Wind is forecast for Friday at least, so expect scores around the -16/264 being the required winning total. You'll find loads of players in the field that live locally and/or have SEC Championship links from their amateur days. Now it's worth facing facts that not every player in the field will be motivated to give it their all at this stage of the season, so look for those that have a real goal in-mind or who have had a disappointing season. Lovers of Par 70s and Bermuda greens will eventually thrive. CHIII is playing well right now and has serious course form so will give backers a run for their money. Another one I like the look of is Aaron Baddeley, who can handle windy conditions and has a history of delivering on shorter courses where there is width off the tee. Best of Luck All

  3. Re: HSBC Champions 31 Oct - 3 Nov I'm not overly fussed on Rory McIlroy this week, who I see is as short as 9/1 after being heavily tipped. Seems a crazy price for a guy who hasn't been in the Top 5 since TPC San Antonio in April. I think the interest in McIlroy is actually a factor of the weakness of the other leading protagonists. Are Rose and Lefty that hungry after their Major wins? Will Kaymer ever find form with the putter, is Stenson that serious after grabbing $10 million for his recent FEC win and is Keegan Bradley actually capable of shooting anything south of -17? Sergio's numbers look great, but he hasn't won a world level tournament since 2008 and Poults is rusty at best. For me the value is further down the pecking order so Spieth, Molinari, Matsuyama and Watney appeal, with 5 Places Each Way being the norm, despite a seriously shortened field.

  4. Re: CIMB Classic 24-27 Oct Have to point out Sportingbet this week who are the only bookmaker who are offering full non-reduced payouts on Place/T10 markets for TIES. That's a cracking proposition for regular golf punters who love to dabble in these markets on players who continually struggle to get over the final hurdle. A player I've always placed in that category is Brian Davis who is playing some really consistent/clean golf at the moment. He's always performed better in hotter climbs and can be a streaky scorer. A poor man's Jeff Overton if you like! I'm on-board the Londoner this week. BOL to all.

  5. Re: Phoenix Open PGA Tour ~ 31st Jan - 3rd Feb For me this Phoenix Open tournament is fiddly to get right, but last season I grabbed place finishes with Bubba Watson and Ben Crane. That in itself tells you all you need to know. Any type of game can florish on the Stadium Course. This season I'm going for the damn right obvious in Duffbag and Watney. Longer odds selections for me are K.J. (66s), Teater (80s) and the much lamented and oftern over looked Jeff Overton who loves Bent grass greens and is available at 100s.

  6. Re: Farmers Insurance Open (PGA Tour) Jan 24th-27th Must say I like the look of Marc Leishman this week. I also have a view that Bud Cauley and Ryo Ishikawa could get into contention. The former showed signs of a return to form last week at PGA West and Ishikawa has a history of playing well on long formats namely Trump Resort and Firestone.
