Re: Race In Focus - Hennessy Gold Cup - Newbury Racecourse - 1st December 2012 He is likely a non runner. Over 30s on Betfair

Re: The Devil...Betting and The Best Tip. It is key. I cannot understand how people bet each day, it seems mental to me. I saw a paid for tipping service say earlier they had 6 winners today! How many bets did they advise to do this, on a day like today! When I first started I was betting all the time, each day and it is a sure fire way to the poor hourse, but at the same time it was small amounts and if you have the right mind set you can learn more through learning. I hate the lower grade stuff myself, non triers, gambles and the horses attitudes anyway aren't as sound, hence why they run at this level. Just more things out of your control when studying the form. Now I can go weeks without betting but it doesn't bother me and I'm sat watching racing all day in the office. I just don't believe that people can possibly fancy something every day, most of the time you are picking something for the sake of having a bet. One of the hardest things to do is spend an hour or more studying the form and not having a bet, that is a skill. Also, as Phil alluded to is the prices of horse. I rarely back below 3/1 personally, I have to be really sure to back something short, although of course odds on shots can still be value I am happy to see them win at short odds anyway. If something you fancy wins at 7/4 are you really bothered? I bet on the whole you will lose more backing them and most the time they won't win. Everyone has their methods though. Having confidence in your ability is important too, knowing that if you suffer a loss on a Saturday you are able to find winners over the next races and make money. All about long term winning, chasing losses is terrible. Rambled on a bit here but for me it's so important and for me personally the thing that has changed the most and made a huge difference

Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread l Ferof won an excellent Supreme, and is a Grade 1 winner over fences. He won, what a lot were saying as the best renewal of the race, off 159. He clearly handeled the ground and the way they finished many didn't, but he hadn't run in anyhting like that since his bumper days in Ireland either (weak races) and he jumped well. Not sure how you can really pick holes in what he did yesterday, or his career. He's clearly top class and not sure there has been an over reaction myself

Re: The Jockey Thread Looks like Racing is on the front page of The Sun tomorrow. Unfortunately it's not Frankel being named Horse of the Year...

Re: Antepost bets & Discussion - Jump Season 2012/13 I backed My Tent Or Yours for the Supreme at 25/1. Vibes at home are good and he is their 2 miler at the moment. Was worried he may go further but seems not at this stage.

Re: PL 10 to follow Flat 2012 Competition - Final Table Up Now Well done CPO Cheers Phil as ever for sorting

Re: FRANKEL Can't believe people are still trying to pick holes in his career.
-
Re: FRANKEL I'm not going this year, but last years BCD was the best days racing I have been to and the atmosphere was amazing. This should be a cracker Frankel is still great for racing. All of my mates know who he is, even the ones with zero interest in the sport I have a sneaky feeling he will race on, but that's just me! They haven't categorically said it will be his last race
-
Re: The Jockey Thread Bit harsh Fin, I think it was a well backed favourite anyway before Hughes had his other 6 winners. Credit to Moore for getting off IMO.
-
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread They have updated their site and XML feed for their odds so there are a few technical issues at the moment I think

Re: Sick of being bent over and raped by the bookies Think Nathaniels best trip is 1m 4 though but yes looks like Champion with Cirrus too. Some race in store there. I really like Nathaniel, he is my work desktop background! But he has been unlucky I think not running in the Derby (don't think connections thought he was ready at the time), not running in the Arc when conditions were ideal and a few other opportunities missed or ground not right, he needs a bit of cut
-
Re: Sick of being bent over and raped by the bookies
What you have to take into account as well though is that Frankel being in the races also scares away opposition. It's not up to connections of him who turns up for his targetsdoes anyone else get it that if you race against horses inferior to you by 18-20lbs you effectively cant lose. If only there was a horse rated within 5lb of frankel then we might see a race aka Canford cliffs and i will leave you with one. -
Re: Sick of being bent over and raped by the bookies In his maiden he beat Nathaniel - King George and Eclipse winner, also Colour Vision Gold Cup winner, even Genius BEast Grp 3 winner etc Dewhurst beat Irish 2000 winner and Dream Ahead 5 time Grp 1 winner Battered multiple Grp 1 winner Canford Cliffs, and Excelebration, 2 time Group 1 winner Immortal Verse Etc etc. Say what you want about his campaign, but you cannot fault his form at all. As if running him in the Arc on that ground would have been a good idea anyway He's not even just beating these bar a few races, he's killing them Thing is as well, the Champion Stakes looks like it could be the race of the season

Re: Sick of being bent over and raped by the bookies Frankels form has been franked time and time again

Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread
Well I can tell you they are, but my point still stands about the punter not benefitting from thiswho knows whether other countries are skeptical about joining purely based on the % take. -
Re: Racecourse Entrance Prices Ludicrous ???
Oh christ' date=' first i ever heard of that word. I actually got a breakfast sandwich this morning from a black guy, and asked for a "sambo". Was wondering why i got a few stares......... In Ireland, sambo is a sandwich, think it is a sarnie in the UK? :lol[/quote'] Yes I know the term, just the context you used it as well! -
Re: Racecourse Entrance Prices Ludicrous ??? Also Best Mate tickets are £35 each for Gold Cup day which isn't that bad anyway.
-
Re: Racecourse Entrance Prices Ludicrous ??? That is ok then!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sambo_%28racial_term%29 As you said 'being a sambo', where as now I know you meant 'bring a sambo' :lol
-
Re: Racecourse Entrance Prices Ludicrous ??? But you are talking about a Premier event which makes up about 0.5% of the fixture list, if that Also, Sambo? Not sure if it has a dual meaning, only one I know is a racist term
-
Re: Racecourse Entrance Prices Ludicrous ??? I would personally say the food & drink prices are more of an issue than the actual entry
-
Re: Daily Racing Chat Thread The theory is other countries will no co-mingle becuase the take out is lower than their pools so there is no point, so the raise will help incentivise other countries to join out pool which will lead to bigger liquidites. Having said that with the take out lower it's hard to see how this will be of benefit to punters

Re: Antepost bets & Discussion - Jump Season 2012/13 Pretty sure Simonsig is going chasing? Captain Conan is massive and looking forward to him over fences for sure. I like My Tent Or Yours. I know he got beat by a few decent sorts in Bumpers but think he will have a good year over hurdles, and his form stacks up well. Lovcen also. Chepstow Saturday already looks great if most the horses hold their ground. Excited about Fingal Bay I have always been a massive fan of SDC and backed him for pretty much every race since 2011 but think he is a silly price for the GC.
