  1. Re: August 11 - August 17

Back Samantha Stosur (+5.5 games) to beat Serena Williams at 2.10 with PaddyPower Serena is after a long and tiring week, and I'm not quite sure if she will be at her best today. Indeed, the Pitbull demolished Stosur last week at Montreal, but I have a feeling this time the scoreboard will look differently. I am pretty sure that Sam wants to bounce back and put in a much solid performance.
This was easy, I get exactly what expected. :ok Shame about Parmentier, as that was not a completely missed pick at all. She was in front with a break in both sets, even serving for winning the second at 5-3 :cry

Back Gael Monfils (+1.5 sets) to beat Roger Federer for a 7/10 stake at 1.92 with Pinnacle I can't see Roger Federer having enough energy to fight for every single point today, so I fancy Gael Monfils, who beat Roberto Bautista-Agut in a surprisingly straightforward fashion in the previous round, to take at least a set off him today. Full preview here: http://www.punterslounge.com/monfils-vs-federer-betting-gael-monfils-to-take-at-least-a-set-off-the-swiss-number-one-today
I second this, completely agreed with your analysis. I think it even worth putting a smaller stake on Monfils' win.
  3. Re: Hungary > Hungarian Cup > 2014/15

Back Héviz (+5.5 goals) to beat Ferencváros at evens with Bet365 Ferencváros will have an important and very tough match against Gy?r on Sunday, so I think they won't force a huge win against Héviz today. They should qualify comfortably, but I don't expect them to win by more than 3-4 goals. It is more important to avoid injuries and remain as fit as possible for the weekend.
Sorry, this was a completely missed pick. Thomas Doll fielded his almost strongest lineup, and they practically demolished the opponent, leaving them no chance.

  6. Re: August 11 - August 17 Back Pauline Parmentier (+1.5 sets) to beat Carla Suarez Navarro at 2.11 with DafaBet Carla did very well last week at Montreal, and I was somewhat surprised seeing her loosing to Venus. She struggled a bit against Pironkova yesterday (dropping one set 1-6), and honestly I expect that to happen once again today against Parmentier. The French lady came from the qualifications, where she beat two decent players in Pliskova and Torro-Flor, then won in the first round in straight sets against Dellacqua. At this point I would rather ignore the H2H stats - which actually favors Parmentier 3-1 - as all those matches were played on clay and a couple of years ago, but I feel at least one set should be on the cards for Pauline.

  7. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 7th August 2014

Back FK Krasnodar (-2) to beat DVTK with 1.72 at MarathonBet I'm going against DVTK once again. Even if the Russians are virtually qualified, and will probably not field the very best players, their second line should be well able to cover this line. I just read the news on DVTK's web site, they traveled with only 2 + 16 players to Russia (some of them inexperienced youth). They are without 5 first choice members, having their goalkeeper and some key field players injured recently. They will definitely not going to war, just to do their duty and come home. I cannot imagine anything, but a home win tomorrow - by at least two goals. As mentioned last week, the gap of quality between these two teams is huge. The line of -3 with 3.05 at MarathonBet might also worth a smaller stake imo.
The Russians were firing from all cylinders in the first half, and DVTK was lucky to concede only one. After Joaozinho and Ari were introduced in the 61st minute I expected at least one more goal, even if this came only a few minutes before the final whistle (Ari still missed a huge chance at 3-0...). In the second half Krasnodar did not put the same pressure on the Hungarians (which is understandable), but the two substitutes created an awesome goal to make this pick a winning one :nana
  8. Re: Champions League Third Qualifying Round 1st Leg - Tues 29th & Wed 30th July

Hey folks, I'm looking for an accumulator with qualification bets, and was thinking about the following teams: Sparta Praha, Steaua, Salzburg, Zenit. What do you think, or what else you might suggest? Zenit and Salzburg should be pretty straightforward, and the odds just confirm this. I rate Steaua as a better team than Aktobe, but they might face some problems in defence as Gardos is still out injured, and Varela was left out against Rapid. According to their manager, he might also miss the first match against the Kazakh champion. Regarding Sparta Praha I agree with HastGill1, they should advance to the final qualification round. Malmö was all but impressive against a relatively weak Ventspils. I was also looking at Apoel, Lille or Dnipro, but am not completely sure about those. What do you think? Any useful input is greatly appreciated :)
Thanks God I stayed away from betting on Sparta's qualification!!!
  9. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday 7th August 2014

The only thing is because they lead 5-1 they have little motivation or reason to do anything tomorrow. All they are really interested in qualifying - which they have almost certainly already done. It could turn out as a big home win - but I am wary about backing it these circumstances.
Agreed, and this is something I mostly don't do. I mean backing an already qualified team to win the second leg as well, especially with handicap. But taking into account DVTK's injury problems, and seeing that huge quality gap between the two, I still think there is value in backing the -2 line in favor of Krasnodar. In the previous qualifying round they beat Sillamae Kalev 4-0 away, to demolish them 5-0 at home as well in the second leg.

Pre-match interviews with the coaches: Sivic (DVTK): "The first leg did not go as we expected. We conceded 2 goals in the last 3 minutes, hopefully tomorrow it will look better, as we won't think about the 1-5. Four of our players have injured on Sunday, but tomorrow we'll fight until the very end." Kononov (FK): "We do not underestimate our opponent. Diosgyor is a tough team, who caused us problems last week. I am pretty sure they will give their best to win tomorrow. Despite their problems they were very organized. On the other hand we tried to play a combinative football and won the first leg comfortably. Of course we are looking to do the same at home, and we'll do everything to achive a similar result and play a high quality football. There is big contention for getting into the starting lineup, the lads are improving. Therefore we do not cut down the expectations despite the result of the first match. This is what our motivation lies in."

  12. Re: Europa League Third Qual Round First Leg - Thurs 31st July

DVTK 1 Krasnodar 5 :clap A dominant performance from Krasnodar going by the stats
The weather was fine over here yesterday, there was nothing to affect the match negatively. I well expected a comfortable win for Krasnodar, and honestly I'm not surprised by the goal difference either. Looking at the odds of the 2nd leg, MarathonBet offers 1,20 on the home win which is a guarantee even if they are 4 goals in front and virtually qualified for the next round. I will wait and read the news before next Thursday, but I suspect DVTK will rather rest most of their key players. But even if they won't, Krasnodar's 2nd line will be strong enough to grab another win by at least 2 goals.
  13. Re: Champions League Third Qualifying Round 1st Leg - Tues 29th & Wed 30th July

Wow looks like Celtic find themselves heading out of Europe early this year. That away goal however' date=' stops me from completely writing them off. Will the Poles be able to hold their nerve at Celtic Park where much greater teams have stumbled? Should be a must-watch second leg.[/quote'] As far as I remember they were on the verge of being eliminated in the qualies last year as well against Karagandy... I can definitely see Legia scoring once in Scotland, and that would well mean they progress to the final round.
  14. Re: Champions League Third Qualifying Round 1st Leg - Tues 29th & Wed 30th July

Best priced accumulator according to oddschecker is with winner.com To qualify odds Sparta Praha 1.3 - (77%) Steaua 1.27 - (79%) Salzburg 1.07 - (93%) Zenit 1.1 - (91%) Accumulator of above with winner.com 1.94 I think the sensible way to look at your bet is to look at each bet on it's own and try to work out if it's good value or not. The percentage figure shows the implied chance according to the odds. So odds of 1.3 on Sparta Praha qualifying imply a 77% chance (1/1.3). If you think they've got a 90% chance of qualifying, then it's a good bet, but if you reckon they've only got a 60% chance, it's a bad one. Look at each bet on its' own, and decide if it's good value or not. It's a bit of work, but after you've done it, you will have an accumulator bet that is more likely to be good value. Good luck with what ever you decide :ok
Thanks for your input, sir! I really appreciate it. Also, I agree that if we do not spend and sacrifice time on researching and analyzing all of our picks we might not find the best value. Thanks again!
  15. Re: Champions League Third Qualifying Round 1st Leg - Tues 29th & Wed 30th July

Re. Sparta Praha, Steaua, Salzburg, Zenit Just looked at the 'to qualify' odds for these teams - average odds are about 1.2, which is the same as 1/1.2 = 0.83. So the odds say there is on average an 83% chance that these teams will qualify. If you took the above 4-fold to qualify bet, you would get odds of around 2.0 on the accumulator. Have you thought about waiting until the second legs?
Actually I did. But I thought if Sparta happens to win comfortably (as HastGill1 predicts as well), and Steaua grabs a decent result in Kazakhstan (1-1 or 2-2 for example), the qualification might be well in their bags. I do not expect at all Zenit to loose in Cyprus, and even if somehow Salzburg will loose by one goal, they should be well able to turn things around at home. Taking into account all of these I thought it's better to place an acca before the first leg, rather than wait for the results but risking the odds dropping from ~2.00 to ~1.50 or maybe even less that does not worth to back.

Just to make things clear, because I think I was misinterpreted over here. I am not looking to back these 4 teams to win this week, but to qualify for the next round.
  17. Re: Europa League Third Qual Round First Leg - Thurs 31st July Back FK Krasnodar (-1AH) to beat DVTK at 1.86 with MarathonBet Right now only MarathonBet has asian lines for this match, and the odds already dropped from 1.96 to 1.86. I am from Hungary and completely aware of the fact how crap we are, and not only on national but mostly on club level. This is the sad truth. DVTK will not play in their own stadium, but will travel to Debrecen (the city I live in, 100 km distance). There is a brand new stadium over here, perfect for playing football (not artifical grass!!). I watched DVTK playing here in the first qualifying round against Birkirkara, a team from Malta. They won in the last minutes, playing against 10 men for almost the whole second half. In the next round they - let's say - surpisingly eliminated Litex. DVTK won 2-0 in Bulgaria (odds 7.00), but then almost lost the qualification in their "home" match loosing 1-2. It worth to take a look at the statistics of those two matches... FK Krasnodar is simply way too strong for any of the current Hungarian teams. Having players like Ari, Granqvist, Akhmedov, Izmailov, Bystrov, Wanderson, Joaozinho in their squad tells everything about how huge the gap is between these two clubs. The away win is almost a guarantee, but having odds on -1AH at around 1.90 must worth a shot.

  18. Re: Champions League Third Qualifying Round 1st Leg - Tues 29th & Wed 30th July

I suggest you forget the accumulator - (which is often just a quicker way of giving money to your bookmaker) - and concentrate on finding a single bet where you believe the odds are too high. For example' date=' if you think Team A are stronger than Team B, but the odds for Team A are higher, backing Team A might be a good bet. Up to you entirely of course, and good luck with the accumulator bet if you go with that! :ok[/quote'] Thanks for your answer, I appreciate it. Actually my general strategy is betting on singles with odds averaging ~1.90, but sometimes I place accumulators as well. So thank you once again for your advice, but I'm rather looking for inputs on the aforementioned matchups right now.

  20. Re: July 7 - July 13 Back Shelby Rogers (+1.5 sets) to beat Andrea Petkovic at 2.20 with Paddy Power Back Shelby Rogers to beat Andrea Petkovic at 4.00 with Bet365 This young American lady was impressive during the whole week, won in straight sets against excellent clay court players like Suarez Navarro, Giorgi and Errani. She serves well, has powerful ground strokes and does not have any problems when moving towards the net. Petkovic was great as well, and taking into accout her undoubtable advantage in terms of experience, the German is rightly considered the favorite of the today final. But being an underdog in this tourney never baffled Rogers, and I think at these odds is well worth to take a risk and bet on her winning at least one set.

  21. Re: Wimbledon 2014 Back Tereza Smitkova (+4.5 games) to beat Lucie Safarova at 2.04 with Unibet The 20 years old Smitkova's Wimbledon progress might be a surprise for most of us, but she is capable of playing some great tennis and has a promising future. Safarova did everything right until this point, her great left handed serve can be an advantage and she should reach the next round, but I expect a tight battle between the two Czechs tomorrow.
