1. Re: My Way De Solzen MWDS has been a bit of a disappointment but sometimes these young chasers can be in their second season. VPU is being geared for Chesltenham and I doubt he can be criticised as he almost succeeded in giving away lumps of weight first time out, was then beaten fair and square by a horse that will probably go off favourite at Cheltenham before winning over Christmas. Blazing Bailey, IMO, possibly over achieved last season, but it is still too early to say. However, the trainer himself is regularly banging in winners over fences, hurdles and NHF (including a double today) and I have no problems backing his horses (especially, as today, when he has two NHF at two different meetings when he has no problems, usually, in running two in the same race). In Chocolate he also has the most improved jumps jockey this season, who knows which side his bread is buttered (and the success he is likely to have with King) by rarely taking outside rides.

2. Re: Sedgefield 26/12 A trainer I always keep my eye open for is Tom Tate. He has been somewhat unfortunate recently as every time he has a horse entered the meeting ends up being off!! He is someone who has his favourite courses (especially Newcastle) and, although he has only had eight runners in the last five years at Sedgefield, he has won one out of two here. the likely favbourite, Auroras Encore, won its last race by 17l, but the fav pulled up and 5 of the 14 runners were priced at 100/1 or more. Tate's Charlie Crab is paper second fav at roughly 7/2 and, at the price, is a definite pick for me. A bumper winner on fast ground, Tate is wasting no time in stepping the gelding up in trip for its first run over hurdles. At the price a definite bet for me.

3. Re: X Factor 2007 This week’s theme is ‘Best of British’, with all the acts singing two songs. Hope We Will Rock You 2 Become 1 Leon The Long and Winding Road Crazy Little Thing Called Love Niki Fields of Gold Total Eclipse of The Heart Rhydian Somebody To Love I Vow to Thee My Country/World In Union Same Difference Wake Me up Before You Go Go Any Dream Will Do Take it away, Jaded, although the public vote, and the choice of songs, should ensure Hope finally depart.

4. Re: Champions League - 28th November Does anyone else think that Chelsea are a false price for their trip to Rosenborg? Rosenborg have been no mugs this season in Europe, and were worth the point in the reverse fixture. They are also well rested, having not been in action since the last Euro round. I am also taken with the idea that Porto can get something on Merseyside. A point will ensure they go through, won't it, and they had a decent win on Sunday to stay top of the Portuguese league. Liverpool have been on fire recently in the league but, lets face it, the teams they have played haven't been the greatest in the premiership and the win against Besiktas does give a false picture in Europe IMO

5. Re: Hereford 22/11

The rest of the favs are pretty poor in returns therefore the only race i can be confident on is the 1.20 race. This is backed up by the trends for the race which shows that the last 6 favs have won this race.
Good news, Sir Tubbs, you can back a winner, leave early and avoid getting held up behind the tractors..........
6. Re: The Fallon Trial

:ok No probs Ginge, that's what the forum is for some good wholesome conversation with each others views, that's why we are all individuals and we have our own opinions. My slant on this Fallon case is that the prosecution must have some evidence there which is why it has gone to court. It could be in the form of unusual betting patterns, telephone calls, cloak and dagger meetings, dodgy race riding etc, etc... The whole point is they have enough evidence there to take him and others to Court with the charge of "Conspiracy to Defraud". If they did not have reasonable evidence I'm sure Fallons Defence (which I'm sure he has the best!) would've blow them out of the water by now and case dismissed. Regards,
It can sometimes be the case that the prosecution will bring a conspiracy charge when they believe they cannot prove a "substantive" case. It enables them, for example, to lump all the defendants in a trial together in order to paint the bigger picture. Fallon has got a decent QC, though. Decent golfer, smokes like a chimney and always looks half asleep (but isn't). Likes a beer as well.
7. Re: The Fallon Trial

I expect most of you remember the Top Cees case. I think some of the Press have been trying to "get" Fallon since being made to pay damages in the court case in 1995. We must trust the courts descision with Top Cees.
Unless not everything came out in court ;););)
8. Re: Gold Cup Quandary With these two being discussed it is easy to forget the likes of My Way de Solzen, Exotic dancer and Star de Mohaison will all be in the mix. If the jockey of Denman rides just to try and beat Kauto he may well play into the hands of one of the others. There are some cracking new kids on the block (second season chasers) this season.

9. Re: PL 10 to follow - Jumps 07/08 - entries by 15th Nov
It had to be in by 8pm for the official site but seen as though it was in before Fridays racing I personally don't have a problem including your selections unless anyone else objects. I'll add your selections to the database unless anyone else says otherwise. :ok Bowles may need some luck too - Iktitaf is out for the season so that's 1 less points scorer till the transfer window. A big welcome to the newbies entering this and to those that don't venture into ATR very often, hope to see you all contributing throughout the jumps season and beyond. :)
cheers Mowgli. I got my official lists in in time but this one wasn't one of them. Looking at it, and comparing it to my four proper entries, I wonder why!!

13. Re: X Factor 2007 Entertaining read, fellow depressed football fan, but Daniel was seriously bad and I do not see how he was ever one of the favourites to win. That, of course, is not saying that Emily or Elisha can hold a note in a paper bag, but he was the worst. Just a note...you mentioned that next week is motown but it was mentioned that it is Big Band next week.

14. Re: Rugby World Cup 2007 - Official Thread

Mr Chairman, that is a good question. Sth Africa have been impressive this tournament, but they are not a huge scoring team in the mould of a France or NZ (more a rumbler than a thoroughbred). Tonga sprang an upset over Samoa which belies the quality of their player list (they were not expected to do much this torunament). Therefore it is a difficult game to predict viz the spread. I have a suspicion 50 might actually be enough to get Tonga over the line. Interestingly, sportsbet here in Australia is only offering 40.5 pts. Personally, I would take a small stake on Tonga at 50, but there have been more confident bets this tournament. Not sure if that helps...
Wasn't the Samoa result more down to them underperforming, though? I agree it is a 'no play', but would still side with the Saffers, especially as Tonga will have more of an eye on the game against England.
