Re: Golf: 2008 Ryder Cup I just cannot have, even for value reasons, the pick on Perry/Furyk. If there is one thing that recent weeks has taught us it is that Perry has been found out as being a "flat track bully", to coin a rugby phrase. Nowhere in any big tournament, even though it is his home state Furyk will have to carry him IMO. This may come back to bite me, but Westwood/Garcia looks far too strong.

Re: Golf: The Open , 2008 I know someone up there!!! Not as windy as today so scoring may be atouch better...however worst of the wind should be when the leaders are going out...last pairings at 2.20pm. They should, however, have the best of it on the back six holes.

Re: Golf: The Open , 2008 Just played on Curtis @ 20's...I can only see him going shorter the way the wind is blowing

Re: Golf: The Open , 2008 Something else to bear in mind is the forecast for tomorrow. The later in the day, the stronger the wind, with some gusts of 50mph plus expected. Look for someone to post early. Tee times: http://www.opengolf.com/ChampionshipGolf/TheOpenChampionship/TeeTimes.aspx?ptype=tt&day=3

Re: Golf: The Open , 2008 Jack...Kim talks down his chances big time in the RP today. States that the course beat him up in practice.

Re: Golf: The Open , 2008
Sorry Woody but I just cannot agree about Lefty. His performances at links courses, when he has done well, are the exceptions rather than the norm. His problem is that he only knows how to play one way, and that is hit it high. If the wind is blowing then he has problems. An earlier poster asked about the previous time it was at the course and the high scores posted. Is it that hard? I don't think so and, although I am a 16 handicapper, I have played far harder links courses (although I haven't been to Birkdale for four or five years). Unlike many the fairways are flat, with no dodgy bounces into the rough, but if you miss the fairways then you will often be playing from the sides of mounds and off bad lies. I also record that all, or all bar one, of the par 3's are in exactly the same direction, which is unusual. With his shape of shot, the worse the weather is the worse it is for his shotmaking. A lay for me.Im going to go with three e.w picks and use two firms who are generously offering 7 places, there maybe slightly bigger win prices elsewhere. My players are ranked no. 2, 6 and 11 in the world and I think are overpriced in an event without Tiger. 20 pts staked. Mickelson 18/1 boy 5 pts e.w I cant help thinking Phil is a big price here in an event without the main man and an event where he is statistically the best player left in it. Even with Tiger in I would think 20/1 is a big price and without him I think it could look very big come Sunday. I have taken shorter from an e.w point of view. I hear some people say Mickleson's game isnt suited to links golf but Im not really convinced by that. True his record in this major is nothing like it is in the others but at the same time he has managed one top 3 at troon a few years back and at places like pebble beach in america, albeit a different kind of links course he has a very good record and regularly wins the various events played there. There is no doubting he is a real class act and I expect his awesome short game will be suited here. His form is pretty decent in 2008, he has won twice, also had a second place and has only missed one cut all year. All in all i can see Mickelson having a really good week. . -
Re: Rugby Union -All Blacks vs England "C"
With the NZ lineout a real weakness I would take SA irrespective of the injuries....and cover it they do, 42 - 12 to the ABs, good performance against a crappy England team, concern with the injuries to McCaw and Williams. If McCaw in particular doesn't recover, then look at take south africa on the handicap in wellington in two weeks time. Nice little earner tonight, I'm pretty happy :ok -
Re: Royal Ascot 19/06/08 4.20 Not a tip but I had a fancy for the reserve runner of Elsworth's @ 33/1. Obviously worried which stall it would go in and, in the end, had to call the racecourse. It will go in stall 26 if anyone else was considering it for a bet or for placepot purposes.

Re: Golf:Austrian Open 5/06/08-8/06/08 I have taken 200/1 with Powers on David Higgins; tied 9th last year and 20th the year before.

Re: Great Leighs - 05.29.08 Make of it what you will, but both Curzon Prince (4.00) and Lindy Lou (5.00) fanced by the yard. All in all most runners from yard in ages.

Re: Yarmouth - Thursday 29th May Make of the info what you will. Connections to Wall's yard say Dalla Finestra (2-10), Cornelia Maria (3.40) and Grand Vizier (4.10) all fancied by the yard

Re: Sweaty Balls Time
Don't be too generous to him...he blew a one shot lead on the back two!! To be fair, however, Michelson actually won the tournament with what could turn out to be the shot of the year on the 18th. Jiminez wonUnfortunately for Barton, Pampling blew a two shot lead on the back nine:\ Unlucky Barton, you'll nail the biggie one day:hope -
Re: Sweaty Balls Time Oh FFS!!

Re: Sweaty Balls Time
Already have done, but only to win about £250. I was out all day so couldn't hedge on Jiminez so part of me thinks it is perhaps my week. I als find it difficult to hedge something I viewed as a fun bet.How about hedging it?;) -
I know this will be classed as after-timing but, every week, I always do a £2.50 e/w double between the European and PGA tours for a bit of fun. No real in depth study like Keith Elliot; just find a golfer in reasonable form with some previous liking for the course and/or the tournament. Never confident enough to tip them up here as, more often than not, at least one of the buggers is way down the field or misses the cut. Occasionally I get the place double up but presently sitting on a ticket with Jiminez at 33/1 and Pampling at 45/1. It has ceased to be a bit of fun!! :loon

Re: Six Nations 2008
To be fair we improved after some non Osprey players came on. Jenkins steadied the front three because Jones was getting dicked there, Popham was unlucky not to start the game and Shanklin was far steadier in the middle. As a Welshman even I recognise that we burgled that game as England should have been out of sight by half time. Their error in the second half appeared to be trying to play a different type of game from the first half, failing miserably and then panicking....summed up by the Wilkinson pass to Cipriani in the English 22.Was England's defeat such a shock - personally I don't think so. People criticised 13 players being picked from a very successful European Ospreys outfit - why? Very foolish in my opinion. The guys proved they were up to international standard. . -
Re: Dancing On Ice - Inside info
...and apparently he used to play ice hockey.blonde twat from hollyoaks will get the girl vote no probs. the best skater wins this event though. -
Re: My Way De Solzen Don't worry, mate, we have all posted things that have come back to haunt us. I tipped up Charlie Crab at Sedgefield last time out, where it unseated before the first hurdle and then took out half the field by running out later, including the favourite that my mate had a bundle on. Today I didn't tip it up for Catterick, halved my bet and watched it lead all the way at 7/1!!

Re: Cheltenham 14/11/2008 Which, of course, throws into doubt the intelligence of ALL the other jockeys in that race. Isn't it arguable to say, therefore, that all of them have not ridden their horses to achieve the best possible placing by taking a route that was plainly longer than required? It would also be interesting to know what side of those bushes the course planners went when measuring the race distance! The bushes will still be there next season...just there will be a couple of more "C" markers to ensure they go around the bushes!
