    Current ratings .....
    Call me lord. 9.0 20/1
    Bold endeavour. 9.0 16/1
    Goshen    8.7 20/1
    Fine margin. 8.3 8/1
    Monmiral.  7.9
    Ed keeper.  7.9
I'll try and narrow it down when I get chance ....but top three look very good value currently 🤔
Edit .....a good prep race is a must so I'll omit Goshen and monmiral leaving
    Call me lord.   99
    Bold endeavour. 96
    Fine margin.    101
    Ed keeper.  94
That's best class ratings ......overall this more often than not goes  to a up and coming horse age 6 to 9 which goes against call my lord but I still think he's definate Ew material and good value .....most likely winners are fine margin or bold endeavour imo ...but ed keeper is a lively Ew danger

Cheltenham 1.15 A decent thirteen runner Premier Handicap has attracted thirteen chasers over a trip of 2M 4F 127 yards with the race having a wide open look to it. Venetia Williams saddles a brace of runners and it’s the Charlie Deutsch ridden Victtorini who takes my eye. He’s won two handicap chases at Ascot this season over 3M rising just 8lb and may not be too inconvenienced by the drop back in trip. His latest victory has been boosted already by subsequent victories for the third and eighth since and with extra places looks decent each way value.   VICTTORINO 1 point each way @ 7/1 bet365 1/5th 1234   Cheltenham 1.50 Six chasers line up for the latest renewal of the Grade 2, 3M 1 1/2F Paddy Power Cotswold Chase. Five of the six are carrying penalties and it’s a tightly knit contest where each of the sextet has a chance. Slight preference is for the Patrick Neville trained The Real Whacker who has an excellent record at the track, including a short head victory over Geri Colombe in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Festival last March. He showed plenty more than his re-appearance last time out in the King George at Kempton on Boxing Day when fourth with the third Allaho winning since to frank the form. His regular rider Sam Twiston-Davies is back in the saddle and he can run well in a tight race.   THE REAL WHACKER 1 point win @ 9/2 bet365   Doncaster 2.05 A field of six line up for this Yorkshire Rose Mares Hurdle run over 2M 128 yards. Willie Mullins has sent over two from his Closutton stables in Ireland in the shape of Gala Marceau, ridden by Danny Mullins and Ashroe Diamond ridden by Paddy Mullins. With question marks over the rest of the field they may fight out the finish with preference for Gala Marceau who was not far off the top of the juvenile hurdle pile last season and if straight enough can take this.   GALA MARCEAU 1 point win @ 15/8 bet365   Cheltenham 2.25 The re-arranged Grade 1 Clarence House Chase has attracted five chasers although unfortunately not El Fabiolo who stays in Ireland for the Dublin Racing Festival next weekend. That surely leaves the path open for Jonbon to continue his winning run (he’s now won twelve of his 14 runs under rules). He’s rated 8lb and upwards better than his quartet of opponents and can take this en route to a clash with El Fabiolo at Cheltenham in March although he will be at unbackable odds today obviously.   Doncaster 2.40 Ten line up for the Grade 2 Albert Bartlett River Don Novices’ Hurdle run over 3m 84 yards. It may be between the Paul Nicholls trained Welcom To Castries and Kim Bailey’s Destroytheevidence with slight preference for the latter who has the best piece of form in his locker with his 1 1/4L second to the promising Shangagh Bob in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham in December. A reproduction of that effort should see him go very close to taking this under David Bass for the team who struck with First Flow at Lingfield last weekend.   DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE 1 point win @ 4/1 BetVictor   Cheltenham 3.00 The Unibet Hurdle run over a distance of 2M 179 yards is up next with five hurdlers lining up. Last year’s top juvenile hurdler Lossiemouth is making her re-appearance having not been seen since winning at the Punchestown Festival last April. If she’s near enough ready she’ll be hard to beat with Paul Townend over to ride her. The other mare in the race, Love Envoi looks her biggest danger and any easing of the ground will be in her favour. A fit Lossiemouth should be winning this for master trainer Willie Mullins.   LOSSIEMOUTH 1 point win @ 5/6 William Hill   Doncaster 3.15 The day’s big handicap is the SBK Great Yorkshire Handicap Chase run over a trip of 3M. A near maximum field of eighteen have declared and the race, as one would expect, has a wide open look about it. My short list comprises of Emmet Mullins’s Sweet Will, Nick Kent’s Erne River and Christian Williams’s Cap Du Nord. Preference is for the latter who has been placed in this race, off of higher marks, the last three years. He, in typical Christian Williams style, has shown nothing this season but his mark has fallen to a mark 3lb lower than when beaten a length by Coopers Cross last year. Sure to have been aimed at this and sneaking in off bottom weight under Jack Tudor he looks the one to be with although I can’t resist a small each way saver with additional places on Nick Kent’s Erne River who bounced back to form over course and distance last time to bring his course figures to 1121.   CAP DU NORD 1 point each way @ 8/1 Betfred 1/5th 12345 ERNE RIVER 1/2 point each way @ 14/1 bet365 1/5th 123456   Cheltenham 3.35 The McCoy Contractors Cleeve Hurdle is run over 3M and we have a seven strong field this year. He maybe the joint oldest in the field but Emma Lavelle’s Paisley Park has an excellent record in this race having finished third last year and winning it three times. He showed last time in in the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot before Christmas that he’s lost none of his old zip when going down in a head bobbing finish to Crambo. He had both Dashel Drasher and Champ behind him that day and looks set to confirm the form and win this again at the age of twelve under Tom Bellamy.   PAISLEY PARK 1 point win @ 11/4 bet365

With Fakenham falling foul to the elements we're left with Lingfield (subject to a early morning inspection) and one cracking race from Thurles on ITV on Sunday afternoon. Here's my thoughts on them -   Lingfield 1.15 The Lightning Novices’ Chase has been re-scheduled from Friday’s abandoned meeting and has attracted just five runners with only 7lb between the entire field at todays weights. All can be given a chance of sorts but its the Simon Munir & Isaac Souede owed Matata that catches my eye. He carries no penalties here (unlike three of his rivals) and has shown more than enough in two starts over fences to suggest he can win this. A easy 10L winner at Ffos Las in a novice’s handicap chase on his chasing debut in October, he stepped forward from that when runner up in a similar contest at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day giving weight to all and a reproduction o that effort should see him thereabouts.   MATATA 1 point win @ 11/4 William Hill   Thurles 1.35 The 2M 4F Grade 2 Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase features six runners, four of which hail from the Willie Mullins stable. Stable jockey Paul Townend rides double Ryanair Chase victor Allaho who has also won this race in 2021 and 2022. He’s got officially 8lb and upwards in hand here and will be hard to beat. He looked good at Clonmel on his re-appearance after a 561 day lay off and there was plenty to like about his third in the King George over Christmas. He should be winning this with maybe his stable mate Appreciate It following him home.   ALLAHO 1 point win @ EVS Betfred   Lingfield 1.50 A valuable 2M class 2 handicap chase is up next with six possibles lining up. Irish challenger The King Of Prs is chasing a four timer and although 2lb wrong at the weights has to be respected. Devon trainer Jane Williams has her string in fine form winning with three of her last 10 runners and can take this with her six year old gelding Saint Segal. He stepped forward from a creditable third to Boothill at Ascot on his re-appearance in early November when looking likely to beat that rival three weeks later at the same venue when a length ahead and keeping on when unfortunately falling at the last. Raised 3lb for that he looks sure to be involved in the finish under regular pilot David Noonan.   SAINT SEGAL 1 point win @ 5/2 bet365   Lingfield 2.25 A field of eleven line up for this class 2 2M 7F handicap hurdle which has a very open look about it. Dan Skelton’s Nurse Susan looks the most obvious but she has stamina to prove here and it maybe worth chancing bottom weight Classic Concorde who maybe the oldest in the field at eleven years of age but is in the form of his life winning five of his last six starts, with his only defeat coming on good to firm ground. His latest victory came at Chepstow on Welsh Grand National day when defeating J’Ai Froid by 2 1/2L with that one winning since at Warwick to frank the form (back in 3rd was the re-opposing Tanganika). The overnight forecast rain will help soften the ground and receiving weight from all looks a value each way play for Welsh trainer David Brace who has booked the promising 7lb conditional jockey Tom Broughton (15 wins from 64 career starts).   CLASSIC CONCORDE 1 point each way @ 11/1 William Hill 1/5 1234 CLASSIC CONCORDE & O’CONNELL (3.35) 1/4 point each way double     Lingfield 3.00 The feature race of the day is the £165,000 guaranteed 2M 6F Fitzdares Fleur De Lys Chase which will see six chasers go to post. My first thoughts were that I wanted to oppose the odds on favourite L’Homme Presse as his yard of Venetia Williams have fallen out of form having not had a winner 17 runs and 16 days and with the trip on the short side and the ground not soft enough but the more you look at the opposition its hard to think he will come undone. He’s won first time out three times in his career and with forecast rain overnight maybe the ground wont be too dry for him. I’ll sit and watch but with his only real danger Protektorat dropping in trip and carrying a 8lb penalty he should be winning.   Lingfield 3.35 A decent sized field of fourteen line up for the Fitzdares Surrey National Handicap Chase run over a stamina sapping 3M 5F. The race looks open with many holding chances. The jockey booking of Harry Cobden for the Sue Smith trained bottom weight O’Connell looks very interesting. This is Sue Smith’s first runner here in the last five years (possibly longer!) and having only his seventh chase start under rules (his tenth in total) may have more to come now stepping up to a marathon trip. He ran fourth over 3M 3 1/2F on Boxing Day in the Lincolnshire National at Market Rasen (the re-opposing Animal was a neck ahead of him). He looks a value each way play with extra places.   O’CONNELL 1 point each way @ 11/2 bet365 1/5th 1234

With Navan having to pass an early morning inspection I've concentrated on a decent enough card at Lingfield with four of the contests aired by ITV.    Lingfield 12.15 Came late and fast to win over course and distance last time out on New Years Eve under Jack Mitchell to follow up his Southwell victory from 9 days earlier. Mark Rimell’s six year old is in the best form of his life and with just a 2lb rise to contend with can get the the hat trick up with Rob Hornby taking over in the saddle.   THAPA VC 1 point each way @ 7/1 William Hill 1/5th 1234   Lingfield 12.50 Ryan Moore makes his first appearance on these shores in 2024 with four rides at the Sussex track and can score on the second of them on Andrew Balding’s Juddmonte owned three year old Dark Angel colt Fire Demon. He’s making his handicap debut off of what appears to be a fair mark of 83 having made all to win a 6F Kempton maiden a fortnight ago. That form has yet to be tested but he has more scope than his seven rivals in this class 4 6F handicap and looks a good bet.   FIRE DEMON 2 points win @ 2/1 William Hill   Lingfield 1.25 An open looking 12F class 4 handicap which has attracted a maximum field of twelve. Roger Varian’s Amazing looks likely to be thereabouts but has to overcome the widest draw and preference is for the Stan Moore trained Raintown who can be backed each way. He’s two from three at the track and appeared to be coming back to form last time when runner up in a Wolverhampton handicap over today’s trip. David Probert looks a positive jockey booking and he can run a big race.   RAINTOWN 1 point each way @ 6/1 bet365 1/5th 1234   Lingfield 2.00 A valuable class 3 1M handicap has again attracted a maximum field of twelve with the weights headed by a very interesting runner in the shape of the Roger Varian trained Dragon Icon who’s making his handicap debut in a first time hood having last been seen finishing a disappointing fifth in the German 2000 Guineas. He’s one to watch closely in the market. The bet however is the Richard Hannon trained Talis Evolvere. He’s shown consistent form on the all-weather and although he’s yet to race here theres no real reason why he won’t take to the surface. Raised 2lb for his latest success at Kempton he has the services of Ryan Moore which is obviously a big bonus.   TALIS EVOLVERE 1 point win @ 9/2 bet365   Lingfield 2.35 There’s £50,000 up for grabs in this 5F class 2 handicap which has attracted a maximum field of ten. Kevin Ryan’s Bergerac comes here chasing a hat trick and looks a player but it’s Mick Appleby’s Bedford Flyer that makes most appeal. He’s won four of his twelve starts on the all-weather and bumped into one last time when running the revitalised Clarendon House to 2 1/2L at Southwell in a race where the course record was broken. An easy course and distance winner in November he can run a big race under Lewis Edmunds who knows him so well.   BEDFORD FLYER 1 point each way @ 13/2 William Hill 1/5th 1234   Lingfield 3.10 The feature race of the days racing at Lingfield is the BetMGM Winter Oaks Fillies’ Handicap over 1M 2F with a field of only eight. Simon and Ed Crisford took this last year with Al Agaila and can repeat the feat with their top weight here Oh So Grand. She won the trial for this contest 45 days ago by 1 1/4L from the re-opposing Queen Regent who is 4lb better off. I confidently expect Oh So Grand to confirm that form as he had the worst of the trip around the outside whilst Queen Regent saved ground sticking to the rail. The Crisfords also have Twirling here who will be ridden by Ryan Moore who hopefully can set the pace for her stable mate to attack at in the short straight under Jack Mitchell.   OH SO GRAND 2 points win @ 9/4 Unibet   Lingfield 3.45 A two mile class 5 handicap which has an open look about it although Rossa Ryan’s mount Two Past Eight appeals as one that will appreciate stepping up to this trip following a third at Wolverhampton in November over 1M 6F. Alan King’s dual purpose four year old has yet to taste success on the flat but today may well be his day in an eminently winnable race.   TWO PAST EIGHT 1 point win @ 9/2 bet365

A top course combo and a trainer with notable track record - Saturday's all-Weather.
Lingfield: top team take aim with Breeze
Charlie Johnston and Rossa Ryan have a 60 per cent strike-rate when teaming up at Lingfield and combine with the progressive Bohemian Breeze in the 1m4f handicap (1.25).

Lingfield: quickfire track hat-trick for Richards?
Lydia Richards has an eyecatching 23 per cent strike-rate on the all-weather at Lingfield in the last five seasons and enjoyed a double at the track at the start of the month.

Wolverhampton: take note of sole Evans runner
Worcestershire trainer James Evans has a good record in January in recent years. He has operated at a 20 per cent strike-rate (8-41) in the two-week period either side of today's date in the past five seasons, posting a £1 level-stake profit of +£25.
His sole runner is Gentle Fire, who is an intriguing contender in the 2m handicap (6.00) under in-form 7lb claimer Joe Leavy.

Wolverhampton: Brown bids for more course success
Gary Brown has a career strike-rate of 15 per cent at Wolverhampton but way exceeded that last year when operating at 36 per cent (5-14) at the all-weather track.
He was successful with Pyrrhic Dancer in the finale at the track on Friday and saddles two runners on Saturday with solid claims, starting with Graffiti in the 1m½f handicap (6.30). This dual-purpose five-year-old was a tidy winner over a furlong further at this track on his penultimate start under Taylor Fisher, who is back aboard. A slowly run race did not play to his strengths last time.
Hannah’s Return should be a leading player in the closing second division of the 6f classified stakes (8.30) under Fisher on the back of an encouraging third following a break from a wide draw over 5f here last month.

    Best bet
    Photosynthesis (12.50 Lingfield)
This three-year-old was a beaten favourite on his recent debut for Tom Clover but that form looks strong and he is an intriguing runner on his handicap debut in this 6f contest.
Photosynthesis was a maiden winner at Navan on his second of three starts in Ireland at two and there was encouragement to take from his third under a penalty for Clover at Newcastle last month.
The winner Sports Coach and runner-up El Bufalo have scored since, so a 3lb drop in the handicap could prove lenient for this colt.
A return to 6f is a plus and he is well drawn in stall two, while Clover has started the year in fine form with two winners, two seconds and four thirds from 11 runners.

The ITV cameras are bringing us four races from Dunstall Park on Friday and here are my early thoughts :-   Wolverhampton 1.40 Landed a gamble on his stable/all-weather debut over course and distance just after Christmas having been backed from 16/1 into 9/2 for trainer Ralph Smith when bolting up by 6L. The handicapper has responded by sticking him up 10lb but there may be more to come from this ex Fergal O’Brien trained hurdler who was runner up to Luccia in a listed novice hurdle over hurdles.   PALACE BOY 1 point each way @ 11/2 William Hill 1/5th 1234   Wolverhampton 2.15 Newmarket handler Roger Varian has his string in fine shape and appears to hold a decent chance of taking this class 4 7F 0-85 handicap with his lightly raced four year old Al Farabi. He made a pleasing handicap debut when beaten a length by Swiss Ace (run well in defeat since)at Newcastle just after Christmas and with just a 2lb rise to contend with should be thereabouts with Jack Mitchell in the saddle.   AL FARABI 2 points win @ 11/4 bet365   Wolverhampton 2.50 Mark Usher has been in good form this year and runs a brace of runners here in Sea The Buckhorn and Outreach who both have chances. Slight preference though is for the latter who finally broke his duck at the thirteenth time of asking over course and distance on Boxing Day under today’s pilot George Bass who is good value for his 3lb claim. A 2lb rise in the weights may not stop him from following up in a race where a careful eye must be kept on the top weight Kraken Diamond who has joined rookie trained Brian Twomey from John C McConnell in Ireland   OUTREACH 1 point win @ 4/1 bet365   Wolverhampton 3.25 James Fanshawe hasn’t had a winner for 42 days but has been knocking on the door in the past fortnight with four of his five runners all hitting the frame. He can take this 9 1/2F class 5 0-68 with his four year old daughter of Cracksman who’s only win came over course and distance last October off of a handicap mark 3lb lower than today’s. Back here she can score again and give Fanshawe his first winner of 2024.   FAST AFFAIR 1 point win @ 11/4 bet365
