  1. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 I'm also having some of the overs on the 180's today. 5pts - Taylor v Lewis - over 15.5 180's @ 2.00 PaddyPower Hard to add much to Fishy's post but will post it up in case anyone wants to take the price @ Paddy Power. Also for anyone wanting to play it a bit safer Bluesquare have the over 180 market set one less at 14.5 @ 1.73. Lewis was excellent on his finishing yesterday, but he is going to have to score heavily just to hold his throw. He is more than capable of doing that and I fancy him to improve on the 5 he hit against Webster. Taylor was in great scoring form with 9 yesterday. IMO both are more than capable of hitting 8 each to bring this in. I'm really hoping for a cracking game of darts this afternoon and as mentioned by Fishy if we get around 27 legs then we should be golden.

  2. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 Much better night for me yesterday with 2 out of 2 bringing in 6.60pts and taking me to -9.08 overall. 4pts - Anderson v Wade - Wade to win @ 2.20 Skybet I'm a big James Wade fan and I will take him at this price all day long - regardless of his terrible record against Anderson. In the 17 times they have met Anderson holds a 12-5 advantage. He has also won the 4 matches they have played this season. Based on the stats its hard to make a case for Wade, but I will try. Wade has already accounted for Pipe and Chisnall, two of the form men coming into this event. With Chisnall a player not a million miles away from Anderson in terms of scoring power and the habit of double trouble. Yes, he lost to Jenkins but he was already through at this stage and I think his game dropped visibly. Anderson lost to Heydon where I saw enough to suggest his head just isn't right, and if put under enough pressure he could crumble. His interview before the Dolan match didn't inspire any confidence in me, and if Dolan was in any sort form I think he could have taken him out. In opposing Anderson you always run the risk that he could turn up and blitz any opponent. However I fancy Wade to apply the required pressure at the right times. A few big check outs from Wade after a couple of missed Anderson doubles, and I think we can see a change in the recent head to head records. With the odds on offer I will happily get on Wade.

  3. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 Currently -15.68 now after 2 180's a piece between Pipe and Chisnall. I will go with 2 tonight as I start the fight back :loon 3pts - Webster v Dekker - Webster over 1.5 180's @ 2.10 Bluesq Webster has managed to cover this line in both his games so far with 2 in the 9 legs against Monk and 2 in the 6 legs against Part. I have been really impressed with Webster since his Premier league experience and it seems to me that he is scoring much heavier these days. I will take him to cover this line in what I expect to be a comprehensive win. 3pts - Stompe v Phillips - Phillips to win @ 2.10 Skybet Surprised that Sky make Stompe the favourite in this one as other bookies have Phillips @ 1.80. You can easily make a case for both players here, but I will happily take Phillips with the better odds. Phillips has thrown some excellent darts so far, beating VDV 5-2 with 5/11 on the doubles and a healthy 88.38 average. He also just lost out 5-4 to Lewis where he managed a 97.11 average. If he can produce that sort of form tonight then I expect him to get past Stompe. Stompe produced some good darts in beating VDV 5-3 finishing with a 91.53 ave. He was blown away by Lewis, but that was with Lewis producing the best average of the tournament so far. Stompe did manage a 98.96 average in that match, but this was distorted as he only had 2 shots at a double. I expect this to be a close game, but I think Phillips is the steadier player of the two. I will take him to edge a tight game here.

  4. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 Another shocking night for me leaves me at -10.68. I just can't seem to hit the large bets at the moment. :( I did exactly the same thing backing Nicholson in the Grand Prix. However I still managed to turn that around for a small tournament profit, so fingers crossed I can do it again. 5pts - Chisnall v Pipe - Chisnall most 180's @ 1.80 Bluesq Pretty straightforward with the reasoning for this one....... Pipe hasn't hit a 180 in either match so far. Chisnall hit 4 in losing to Jenkins and 3 in losing to Wade. Chisnall is one of the biggest 180 scorers in the game and you have got to fancy him to outscore Pipe tonight. I also think that Jones is overpriced @ 3.00 with Bluesq. He has the home crowd support behind him, and that could be enough to unsettle the delicate Anderson. However as that is the last match on I will wait and see how I am fixed going into that one.

  5. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 8pts - Monk v Dekker - Monk to win @ 1.61 Skybet Skinnier odds than I would usually like to take, but based on their opening performances I just can't see past Monk in this one and will go in with a large play. Monk gave Webster a tough time in the opening match just losing out 5-4 and finishing with an 84.40 average. That performance should give him plenty of confidence going into this match and he is in with a real chance of progressing. Dekker on the other hand produced one the worst performances of the tournament so far. He finished with an average of 73.23 and didn't look like he can handle it at this level. Anything like a repeat of either players opening performances should see this bet come in with ease :ok

  6. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011

The smallest of profit for me last night with +0.32, better than a loss and hopefully onwards and upwards from here on in. 3pts - Anderson v Dolan - Dolan to win @ 3.50 Skybet Despite losing on Dolan last night I see definite value in backing him again here. He didn't play anywhere near his best darts last night and I think the crowd go to him a bit, whilst also inspiring Jones to his best TV appearance in sometime. For me he is still a class darts player and he was in very good form leading into this tournament. We saw the worst part of Anderson's play last night in that he just can't finish his doubles. In this shorter format he has less chance to rectify his mistakes, and if he doesn't start well his head can go down and the match is gone. On the flip side of that if he does hit his doubles then he will outscore Dolan and this match will be over very quickly. However with the odds on offer I just can't be having Anderson around 1.33 and would much rather be on Dolan here. :ok
Fair play to Anderson he took his A game to the stage tonight and dealt with Dolan. When I saw his prematch interview :loon I thought this bet was a banker. -2.68 for me over the 2 nights so far. :sad

  8. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 3pts - Jones v Dolan - Dolan to win @ 1.91 Coral Dolan showed his class in reaching the final of the World Grand Prix in Dublin with a win against Wade and the 9 dart finish along the way. He also gave Taylor more of a game than anyone else managed that week. Granted he did have the crowd on his side in Dublin but he threw some great darts with consistent scoring. Jones hasn't played his best darts on TV for a while and although he may be buoyed by the home crowd I don't think he will have enough to beat Dolan here. Jones also lost to Dolan 2-0 in the Grand Prix. For me Dolan is the form player here and with the odds on offer I will back him to bring his Grand Prix form into this tournament and dispose of Jones. :ok

  9. Re: Darts: Grand Slam of Darts 2011 4pts - Pipe v Jenkins - Pipe to win @ 1.83 Skybet For me this match represents two players who's careers are going in opposite directions. Pipe has very much been on the up and is really starting to thrive on the big stage. Jenkins IMO is very much on the slide and I feel his best days are behind him. The career stats for the last 5 months reflect this - Pipe - 10th in Prize money won, and 7th in the PDC order of merit. Jenkins - 34th in Prize money won, and 32nd in the PDC order of merit. Pipe warmed up for this event reaching both finals of the recent Pro tour event in Crawley. Loosing 6-4 to Dave Chisnall and winning 6-3 against Vincent VDV. In the same event Jenkins was knocked out in the 2nd round on both days by Mark Frost and Gary Eastwood. I will take Pipe to win this one and hopefully get me off to a winning start :ok

  11. Re: England - Barclays Premier League - Nov 5 - 6

3pts - Bolton v Stoke - Bolton @ 2.52 Betfair Bolton have an awful home record this season and have lost all 5 league games so far. However 3 of these were against, United, City and Chelsea, so probably not as bad as first glance. Coyle showed he is a decent manager last season and I think Bolton are a decent side. Bolton are in desperate need of the points and with the price on offer I will back them to get their season going at home this weekend. Stoke have lost their last 3 away games against Arsenal, Swansea and Sunderland. All three of these games coming on the back of a Thursday UEFA Cup match - The same situation we have this week. I was very disappointed with Stoke on Monday and I think they have a few issues in fitting Crouch into their side. Although he's very tall he isn't very good in the air, and is actually better with the ball on the deck which isn't really the Stoke way. Bolton certainly have enough to cause Stoke problems. This added with the uefa cup game for Stoke, the importance of the game to Bolton and the nice price and I definitely see some value in Bolton here. :ok
4pts - Blackburn V Chelsea - BTTS @ 1.72 Bet365 As already mentioned in this thread Chelsea have been a mess defensively this season. They have only kept 1 clean sheet away from home and that was in the opening game against Stoke. They look to have adapted a more open style under AVB, but this is leaving the defence seriously exposed - as demonstrated by the 5 Arsenal scored last weekend. For all Blackburn's struggles this season they do carry a goal threat. They have the young lad Hoillet who looks a class player and they will always be a danger from set pieces with the likes of Samba in the side. They have only failed to score at home twice this season once against Man City (no disgrace) and once against Everton, but from memory they bossed this game and missed 2 penalties. Blackburn are still playing for the manager and will be fighting for their lives in this match. While I can't see them winning the game I do fancy them to cause Chelsea problems. At the other end I can't see Blackburn containing Chelsea and I will take the odds on offer on this one. :ok
A small profit on these. A shame Samba had to go off as Blackburn did cause Chelsea some problems and he could have made the difference from a set piece.

  14. Re: UEFA Champions League > Tuesday 1st November

A draw would suit both teams. I wouldn't be backing them tonight. But I think unders is the safest bet given Marseille's incapability to score.
maybe, although I wouldn't have expected such a drift in such a short space of time without any significant team news. Nothing in the pre match reports to suggest Arsenal wont be fielding a strong side. If anything they cud be stronger with Vermalen back. Bouyed by the win against Chelsea and with a chance to qaulify tonight. I'm happy to take that price. Also the way the gooner fans are at the minute. You never know they might even generate an atmosphere tonight.:p
  15. Re: England: Championship Oct 29-30

5pts - Leeds v Cardiff over 40 booking points @ 1.83 Blue Square These 2 sides have been fairly good this season in not picking up many booking points. In fact Leeds have only gone over once in their last 5 home matches and Cardiff once in their last 5 away. However I see these as two evenly matched sides and in front of the TV cameras I fancy a keenly contested match in which I think this line can be covered. The main reason for this bet though is today's referee is Phil Dowd. IMO He just can't help but make himself the centre of attention. He is what I would call a very card happy referee, and with today's game on TV I think he will want to show everyone who is boss. Phil Dowd has gone over this line 3 out of his last 5 matches. In the 2 games that didn't go over one of them had 40 points and the other only 20 - but this was a non contest between Citeh and Blackburn. Blackburn didn't really get close enough to kick them and Citeh had all the ball. In what I expect to be a hard fought match and with Phil Dowd as the referee, I'm happy to be on the over's here. :ok
Only 3 bookings in the end, and not really a tackle of any note in the match. :@

  17. Re: England: Carling Cup Oct 25-26

5pts Blackburn v Newcastle - Blackburn @ 3.3 Betfair I was really impressed with the Blackburn performance against us as the weekend and we were very lucky to come away with the 3 points. The players are certainly still playing for the manager, and I think this is an ideal chance for Kean to relieve some pressure with a win tonight. Steve Keane and Blackburn need the win much more than Newcastle and I expect to see a strong Blackburn side. Newcastle on the other hand has a very tough set of league fixtures coming up and I expect them to rotate more than Blackburn. A Blackburn win of any sort will help to ease the pressure on Kean and his side, and If they can play like they did against us at the weekend I can see them coming out on top here. With the odds on offer I certainly see some value in Blackburn and I'm happy to be on the home side in this one. :ok
Traded this out for either 5pts win if Blackburn hold on, or 4pts win on the draw or Newcastle. :cigar I will take that sort of result all day every day. Good luck to the rest on Blackburn :ok

  19. Re: Npower Football League Championship & League One» Oct 18/19

Bet365 and BBC have made an error and there were actually 11. I listened to the game and also http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/match/2011/oct/19/leicestercity-v-watford. They are reviewing it but if they mark it as 12 definately argue with them. I'm quite sure they were only 11. EDIT: Here has 11 also but they disagree too ha! - http://soccernet.espn.go.com/gamecast?id=324389&cc=5739
Bet365 have paid out. Nice one :lol
  20. Re: Npower Football League Championship & League One» Oct 18/19 4pts - Leicester v Watford (Asian Corners) Under 11.5 @ 1.80 Bet365 In Leicester's 5 home games and Watford's 5 away games this season this line has only been covered once - 12 corners in Watford away to Coventry. Leicester Home Total - 10,9,9,7,9 Watford Away Total - 9,9,11,12,5 Leicester have only contributed more than 5 on one occasion with 7 of the 9 against Reading. Watford have only managed to get to 5 on two occasions away from home. Leicester home corners - 4,5,5,4,7 Watford Away corners - 3,2,5,5,2 Based on the stats this season I think this line is too high and will play the unders tonight.
