  1. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series Oh well that has shut me up. Could've been the Twenty20's where it started at 26 come to think of it. But anyway there's not much that is screaming out at me ahead of tomorow other than the following: 5pts England to win @ 11/10 Bet365 I may sound like a broken record but I will continue to back England in these matches especially at these odds. I can't help but feel that the two Australian wins have come only virtue of two big individual performances. I've watched both the ODI's and they haven't really played well as a team and the injuries in their side ahead of this match mean I can't look past England here. Bresnan is out for England but on the flipside, Johnson is out for the Aussies alongside long term absentees in the form of Ponting, Hussey etc. They will probably line up with both Xavier Doherty and Steven Smith who full me with no confidence whatsoever. England to finally get one for me. 1.5pts Ajmal Shahzad Top England Bowler 2/1 Sportingbet I'm a fan of Ajmal Shahzad. He is a good front-line bowler and he has a good wicket-taking record. He can be a bit erratic at times but he generally bowls decent lines with good pace too. He bowled three top-order batsman on Friday which is fairly rare in this day and age and he will almost certainly take the new ball tomorow. Bresnan is out which slightly increases his chances of taking wickets and I think if he bowls a good early spell and picks up one or two, he'll take this line. He has a good yorker on him too so if he comes on later on in the innings and bowls at the tail-enders, I'm confident he can pick up 2 or more wickets tomorrow.

  2. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series I've been watching Bet365's line on Yardy since the start of the series. In the first match it was 26 and in the last one it was 31 and he has cleared them both. I still am unsure why they keep it so low because as you say, he always bowls his over allotment and is handy with the bat. Very strange. May follow you, will add my lines later.

  3. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series I actually can't believe England lost again in this ODI. I watched the whole Australian innings and was completely baffled as to how we had them on the ropes at 142/8 and still let them get 230. Eight of the 10 Australian partnerships were below 12 runs, yet they still hit in excess of 200?! Madness. Clouded what would have been a clean sweep for me really as everything else came in. We walked the 15 Over line and Bresnan took 2 wickets as I thought he would. Annoyingly Ian Bell scored exactly the same as Trotty so in the event of a tie Sportingbet half your stakes. All in all +5.224 for the ODI and -4.776 for the series. Watson took a wicket and held on to two catches adding another 40-odd points to his 161 from the 1st innings so my outright on him looks good. England need to start winning games though this is ridiculous. Played any other winners :clap

  4. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series Had a shocker in the 1st ODI but I'm going in with four ahead of tomorows 2nd. 4pts England to Win at 11/10 Bet365 I still think England are the superior side in limited-overs cricket. It's not every day that a team posts a 1st Innings score of 294 at the MCG and despite losing fairly comfortably, I think the margin of the loss didn't actually correspond with the overall performance. We still have a few players in good form and a lot of players capable of winning matches by themselves. The worry here is the bowling attack, without Jimmy and Broady our attack lacks abit of experience and looks abit toothless. We did only take 4 wickts at the 'G which is abit worrying however, despite saying that, at this price I'm happy to take on England to recover and push forward in this series. 4pts England to have the Highest 15 Over Total 10/11 Sportingbet England took this in the 1st ODI with a score of 102 after 15 overs which is pretty impressive. This was at the biggest stadium in the world too. Matt Prior has been drafted in to replace Steven Davies which only strengthens this line as both Strauss and Prior naturally score quickly. Next up for England is Trott and Pietersen who again get the job done when needed and at speed. Tait returns tomorow so there'll be plenty of pace onto the bat to exploit early on and we all know anything abit too straight will be despatched with ease by Strauss. Priors inclusion also means a Left-hand, Right-Hand opening pair for England which always upsets bowlers rhythms. I fancy England to take this one despite Warner and Watson lining up for the Aussies. Clarke comes in after those two and in the 1st ODI, he was in for 57 balls without hitting a boundary. All over it. 4pts Tim Bresnan (Player Performance) - 40 & Over @ 5/6 Bet365 Points are scored as follows: 1pt per run, 10pts per catch, 20 pts per wicket, 25pts per stumping No Anderson or Broad actually make Tim Bresnan England's strike bowler. He took the new ball in the first ODI and took two wickets which would clear this line all day long. He is fairly handy with the ball generally bowling decent lines and at a good pace too. We saw in the test series and in the 1st ODI that he can take wickets and what makes this appealing too is the fact that he isn't a complete tool with the bat. If he only takes one wicket tomorrow, he is definitely capable of hitting 20 runs with the bat at #8 (ODI average of 25.64). I think he can clear this with the ball alone, if he doesn't a few runs is well within his reach. 1pt Top England Batsman Jonathon Trott 11/2 Sportingbet Trott is a good player there's not many who would deny. He can definitely score runs and has a ODI average sitting comfortably over 40. Recent history of ODI's at Hobart have been fairly low-scoring and the Top Batsman in each innings generally has been someone from the Top Order who effectively can dig in and stay there for 15/20 overs. Trott is the best in Englands Top 5 at doing that and he has a good disciplined head on his shoulders. Decent price from Sportingbet too at 11/2 I'm happy to take this on with minimal stakes. Never nailed a top bat before, I'll be rooting for Trotty here.

  5. Re: Tennis - The Australian Open (17-30 January) I do like the look of Maran Cilic tonight vs. Santiago Giraldo. 365 have his handicap set at -4.5 which to me looks very do-able. I do not know a great deal about his opponent though. Their last and only previous meeting was on hard-courts and Cilic cleared this with ease but I don't know how much Giraldo has come on since then. Can anyone with better knowledge shed some light on this match?

  6. Re: Tennis - The Australian Open (17-30 January)

Roddick vs Hajek UNDER 28.5 games @ 8/11 (Bet365:4pts) Think Roddick can win this one easily enough. Hajek been out for a couple of months, pulled out of early year tournaments so first competitive match in a while and he's also done very little on hard court in his career, mostly a clay courter at challenger level. Roddick looked good in Brisbane reaching the final, has a good record at the AO and I think he should cruise here....I expect one or two very easy sets.
I like this alot. Tennis is something I follow rigidly but have never actually bet on before. My first foray into betting on this sport will be following this tip and I confident of Roddick doing the business in the opening round. Fancy Federer game to go overs as well, I fancy Lacko to give him a few problems in the opening round. I will mull over whether to double it up with this one here over the next 24.
  7. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series Two ahead of the first match also: 5pts England to win EVS @ Bet365 Similar to the Twenty20, I can't quite understand why England aren't favourites here. They're the better team and have top players coming back into their ODI squad, including skipper Strauss. Australia have lost 6 of their last 9 matches at the 'G and are resting Peter Siddle and Mitchell Johnson. I fancy them to take his and at EVS, I'm happy to back them with my own money. 5pts Total Match Sixes - 4 or Less 5/6 Sportingbet Barring one freak match against the West Indies (where something ridiculous like 13 sixes were hit) this line has not been cleared in the last 10 ODI's at the MCG. As far as I'm aware, this is the biggest stadium in world cricket and it just doesn't bring that many sixes at all. There are 6 hitters in both line-ups tomorow but I am still confident that the Unders will come in. There were only 6 in the Twenty20 where over 300 runs were scored so I think there is scope for this to come in.

  8. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series Two outrights for me. 7pts England to win the Series @ 4/5 I'm all over England in this series. They're the better team, they're in better form, they have batsmen that are all in good touch and they have a far better captain. On top of this, England have won their last 5 ODI series on the bounce and come off the back of a crushing Ashes win. I still think Australia are a team in transition and they lack any kind of form and confidence at the moment. Yes England are without Jimmy and Stuart Broad but as Kev alluded to earlier they still dumfound me with selections like Steven Smith and in Xavier Doherty, they have a spinner who can't really be classified as a spinner. I expect England to perform strongly over the seven matches and a confident series win here shall put them in perfect stead ahead of the World Cup. 5pts Shane Watson (Player Performance) - 350 & Over @ 8/11 This line is probably a touch inflated due to his recent amazing performances in the Twenty20 games but I still think it's a good one nonetheless. Shane Watson is Australia's best player at the moment by a mile and half. He is solid with both the bat and the ball and I think he can clear 350 over the seven games in this series. Australia need him, so he should play all seven matches meaning the only worry here is whether any matches are rained off. The chances of that are slim though, its Australian summertime so this should be okay. He has a batting average of 39.57 in ODI's and in 100 matches where he has bowled he has taken 121 wickets. He is an opener, so he will bat in every match he plays and as we saw in the Test series, he is a handy slip fielder too so catches could potentially be a third scoring method for the Aussie. I'm happy to take this, I reckon there will be at least one match where he will score big and I also reckon there'll be at least one match where he takes 3 or 4 wickets. Confident of this one.

  9. Re: Cricket: South Africa vs India - ODI Series + Twenty20 International

Two ahead of this one tomorow. May add another later, I shall deliberate over it. In the meantime: 4pts South Africa to Make Highest 15 Over Total @ 5/6 Skybet Was contemplating taking this one in the first ODI but thought I'd see how it went before choosing again. SA won this by 29 runs in the last match and looking at their top orders, I fully expect them to win it again. Smith can hit a ball, he needs no introducing, Amla looked in imperious touch yesterday. It was almost like he knew where Nehra would bowl before Nehra knew himself. De Villiers is just, De Villiers and Duminy seems to be a ODI specialist. Now those players all have quality in abundance as you know, but what makes this line appealing is the fact that they are all quick scorers as well. SA raced to 82 within 15 overs the other day which is a pretty impressive scoring rate. On top of this, India's bowling attack looks very thin especially if Nehra produces what he produced in the 1st match (6 overs, 1-61). Confident this will come in 6pts Dale Steyn (Player Performance) 40 & over @ 5/6 Bet365 Steyn needs two wickets for this to come in which is an easy feat considering the form he's in. Every single time SA play I am wary of picking Steyn on a Performance bet because his line is always so damn high. Yet he goes and clears it every single time taking wicket after fxcking wicket. He will get the new ball tomorow and will steam in against touchy Indian batsmen fighting for their places ahead of the WC. If it comes to it, he can hold the willow too and score a few runs down the order. For the first time I'm actually going to bold and back him so I'm hoping he doesn't fail this one time.
Both of these sailed in thankfully which makes me +8.32 for the day and +3.32 for the series. Didn't expect India to win this one. Sets up the remainder of the series very nicely. Nice shout on the sixes too Otter, that line was ridiculously high.
  10. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series England to Win @ EVS - :@ When tait bowled that horrible wide and then Woakes hit that six I was like 'no way!'... Unfortunately there really was now way :cry Watson: 42 & Over - :D 17 runs and 2 wickets. Easy peasy. Davies: Under 35 :D - As expected, no catches. 29 runs. Pietersen Top Batsman :@ - Scored the lowest amount of runs of any England batsmen. +0.81 for the match. Can't complain I suppose. Congrats on all the sixes unders. Turns out the Unders on Sportingbet would've come in!

  11. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series I was very tempted to follow you on the unders Kev but I don't have a Stan James account and the Unders on Sportingbet starts at 7 which just isn't going to happen. I have been thinking about this all day and I am going to go with one more. 1pt England Top Batsman: Kevin Pietersen @ 7/2 Bet365 I generally don't really like calling Top Batsmen because there are just so many possibilities for it to come in. However, the pace attack from Australia, the ground we're playing at, the threat of rain and the format of the game suit Pietersen down to the ground so I think its worth a punt. We'll start with the former. Given the fairly reasonable likelihood of an early wicket tomorow (which I hope will be Davies, see above), Pietersen will come in probably facing either Tait or Lee. These two send balls down at well over 90mph and we all know KP loves pace onto the bat. He is one of the few English batsmen who could clear this massive boundary with relative ease and I think he will relish taking on, one of, if not both of the Aussie pacemen. The threat of rain too also increases the possibility of a reduced-over match, effectively nullifying the lower orders of both teams taking the Top Batsmen market again, playing right into Pietersens hands at #3. If he is around when the medium pacers come into play, we all know he can manouvre those guys around with his eyes closed & at 7/2, I am willing to back it with small stakes of course.

  12. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series 4pts England to win the 2nd T20i @ EVS Bet365 Not quite sure why Australia are still favourites. As far as I'm concerned, England are still the better and most complete team of the two. I actually think that they'll take this one after the win two days ago. Confidence is high in the England camp, they're playing without fear and it seems that none of the 11 are really fighting for their place hence, not adding any pressure. England have batting through to #9 and the bowling attack is maybe just behind but not that far off the quality of the Aussies. Not really a whole lot I can add to this, Australia are still a team in transition and I don't think everything has been sorted in the 48 hours since the previous match. Happily take EVS in this line too. 4pts Shane Watson Player Performance (42 & Over) 5/6 Bet365 Watson cleared this with the bat alone and with the ball alone on Wednesday without too much fuss. He is easily Australias most in-form player and he proved the other day that he is very effective in both forms of the game coming out with something ridiculous with 139 points. I think he will ocver hald with the bat. THe massive boundary at the 'G is well within his reach and I think he will score enough runs to leave him with just needing one wicket. His fast/medium pacers usually come towards the end of the innings when the opposing team usually look to push on and he is often subject to big hitting and hence players wholling out to fielders around the boundary. Expect this to continue tomorow. 3pts S Davies Player Performance (Under 35) Bet365 I dont particularly rate Davies as a fantastic T20 opener. He has 74 runs in 4 T20i innings with 33 of those coming in one match. I dont think he will get a big score tomorow either and after doing a bit of research into T20i's I have found that catches by wicket-keepers are quite few and far between. A lot of the time, players are caught out in the deep or are bowled towards the death when they look to chase runs. Wicket-keeper catches don't come that often. Infact in 54 Twenty career matches, Davies has taken only 30 catches. I'm effectively hoping that there is no catch tomorow as I don't think he'll score 35 with the bat. Infact, I don't think he'll score 25 so that leaves me with 1 catch as cover. This line is a risk but I think it's calculated. The MCG is a huge ground and the test there showed how difficult is what to hit boundaries there. I am therefore staying away from all boundary markets. Good luck to all.

  13. Re: Cricket: South Africa vs India - ODI Series + Twenty20 International Two ahead of this one tomorow. May add another later, I shall deliberate over it. 14. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series Up there with one of the most entertaining matches I've ever seen. That flippin' sixes bet had be shitting large bricks towards the end but I'm very happy it has come in. Leaves me +3.32 for the match and the series so far. Once again, another cricket thread proves to be very profitable with some top tips. Well done to all England backers but: Liveforever :notworthy

  15. Re: Cricket: South Africa vs India - ODI Series + Twenty20 International I can't for the life of me confidently call who will win this series so I am not even going to call it. I'm staying away from all outright series betting. It's just too close for me. Onto the first ODI then: 5pts - India +2.5 Wickets/12.5 Runs @ 5/6 Sportingbet I don't think India are that bad a One-Day outfit to be this price on this handicap. Yes South African conditions aren't ideal for them but the players they have at their disposal have a lot of quality and alot of them will be looking to impress ahead of the imminent World Cup. I was worried about their bowling attack ahead of the test series because without Zaheer it looked very weak to me, but for the ODI series, they will probably line up with Zaheer, Nehra, Ashwin & Harbhajan with Yuvraj and Raina also more than capable of sending a few down. There's enough there to cause most teams problems and I think they'll win this 1st ODI. I am more than willing to back them at this price with a little cover for a close match too. I don't like any of the Player Performance markets at Bet365 except one: JP Duminy Player Performance Pts - 33 & Over. It's so high risk though that I am not even sure if I want to call it. I'm going to go and play Black-Ops for a couple of hours, if after that time I decide I want it, then you'll see a write up on it. If not then I'm not convinced. Good luck all :hope

  16. Re: Cricket: Australia vs England - 2xT20s & ODI series I have been scouring around for something to interest me in this first T20i but am really struggling to come up with anything other than the following: Total Match 6's - Under 8.5 @ 5/6 via William Hill This match is being played at the Adelaide Oval which is notorious for its fairly odd boundary sizes. The straight boundary is around 80m long with the square boundaries being somewhat shorter at around 60. This obviously means sixes square of the wicket will be considerably easier but when you look at the respective bowling attacks of each team, you'd probably agree sixes might be hard to come by. Australia are expected to line up with Brett Lee, Shaun Tait & Mitchell Johnson whilst England will probably start with Shahzad and Tremlett pace-wise. At least four of those five will send those white Kookaburra balls down the patch at 90mph or above which makes six-hitting very tricky. Michael Yardy proved that picking him is very difficult in the warm-up match the other day proving to be very economical. I generally don't like to back Unders in 6's markets but I'm fairly confident of this coming in. Extrabet have this line at 10/11 so if anyone would like to follow this, they have better odds over there but I have an account with Willhill so shall stick with this line here. I think England will pull together for Collingwood and win this one. Odds of EVS are attractive too but I do not like betting when I do not know what the opposition is capable of. For that reason I shall stay away for precautionary reasons of any outright markets. Best of luck to any other tippers :hope

  17. Re: Cricket: New Zealand vs Pakistan - Test Series Jesus Christ New Zealand got blown away in that second innings. All out for 100 is atrocious. Fortunately for me Umar Gul walked that Player Performance bet and came out with 117 points which leaves me +4.15 from the 1st Test. Need NZ to dig deep and win the 2nd to spare my outright though. Unlucky on a couple of those Kev, that spot for the Mccullum runs was a great find though, he cleared that with comfort in both innings. Will be back with my 2nd test lines later on in the week.

  18. Re: Cricket: South Africa vs India - ODI Series + Twenty20 International

Good call on the overs too Bigmac but unlucky with ashwin.. 2pts shy?:wall
I know, Raina got out with the last ball of the Indian innings which meant Ashwin didn't actually get a chance to bat :@ Go into the ODI series -2.00 after the Twenty20 despite the sixes coming in. Rather annoying that. Still, well done Kev. Looking forward to what should be a very good ODI series.
