  1. Re: International Friendlies 3rd Sept - 7th Sept 2014

England to keep a clean sheet is 6/5 at Betway, and they are 6/4 at Betvictor to be leading at HT and win at FT. Both bets I shall be taking up. England have superior quality in their ranks, and this friendly will be one of those drab, low-tempo affairs at a half-empty Wembley. The only point of this game is if you are a punter, and are trying to scrabble some money out of this pointless fixture. I expect the game to be fairly lively (by these drab standards) for the opening half-hour, where England will take the lead, before a raft of subs at half-time will destroy any cohesion and flow to the game. Norway will probably pack plenty of players behind the ball and offer little in attack. Oh and Betvictor are also offering 23/10 for England to win one or two nil - that also seems fairly grand to me.
For a meaningless fixture which no players want to participate in, you seem over assured that they'll keep a clean sheet and win HT/FT. Why will they win at all? Seems Norway would be the more enthusiastic to play at Wembley and show something to watchers. They'll all want to get a goal knowing everyone's watching. It could mean getting noticed and maybe moving from the Tippaligen to England where they'll get better wages who knows? The England players have important fixtures and MANY of them next week and all season long. You're telling me they'll be committed to a clean sheet? A raft of changes you mentioned at half time won't sabotage your clean sheet? C'mon If I were Victor Chandler I'd take your bets all week long with no limits. These are risky enough in competitive fixture but in friendlies you line the bookmakers pockets and put their children through college.
  2. Re: Italy > Serie A TIM > 30th - 31st August Inter look really good in Midfield with Medel, M'Vila, Kovacic, Guarin, Alvarez and I like Vidic at the back to lend his tremendous experience to the defenders. It's just the attackers. Icardi, Osvaldo and Palacio just don't sit right with me. This side would look pretty good with a world class striker to finish whatever the midfield creates.

  3. Re: Italy > Serie A TIM > 30th - 31st August Agree with all above on Milan - Lazio. Another important aspect is Inzaghi vs Pioli. Inzaghi is a player we all loved but as a manager who knows if he's even capable. It seems he was chosen for the same reason as Seedorf and the other new players, because he was free and Berlusconi doesn't want to spend. Bad signs. Bruta figura. Pioli has a reputation for getting the best out of his players and saved Bologna apparently from the drop zone last season or the season before. So he was chosen on ability and has a clear vision for this team. Not to mention a heap of experience more than Pippo.

  4. Re: Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool > Sunday August 31st Liverpool have shown at City they sit back against no one. They will be taking the game to Spurs from the start with a high defensive line. Spurs will oblige as that's their cup of tea as well. So we have doubts over Glen Johnson and Moreno the 2 fullbacks with the replacement fullbacks already out. From the telegraph: "Three players who sustained problems during Monday's loss at Manchester City, Alberto Moreno, Martin Skrtel and Glen Johnson, are to be assessed ahead of the Spurs match. Jose Enrique will also have a late fitness test, but Jon Flanagan is not yet ready to return as he works his way back to fitness from his knee injury, and Daniel Agger and Oussama Assaidi remain sidelined." So we have Lallana returning to fitness ready to debut with Balotelli. Add Sterling Sturridge and Coutinho and Liverpool looks stacked in attack and vulnerable in the back, Spurs have never been a defensive juggernaut and will likely concede. However players like Erikson, Adebayor, La Mela, Lennon can score at any time. Goals goals goals

  5. Re: Newcastle United v Crystal Palace > Saturday August 30th Only thing concerning me about backing the home side for the straight win is this Monaco guy Riviere against City looked so rough on the ball and murdered a few shots that he could of easily put on target. However Cabella looked dynamic and think the midfielders have just enough about them to get one over Palace. Would feel much more secure if they had an efficient striker though.

  6. Re: Italy > Serie A TIM > 30th - 31st August

info from juventus andrea pirlo out a month' date='chiellini disqualifield and morata-barzagli injured ,llorente with fever doubtful and vidal e evra late form[/quote'] barzagli morata llorente won't be felt. Back 3 will be Ogbonna, Bonucci, Carceres imo midfield 3 strong with Marchisio, Pogba, Vidal Llorente is rubbish and Tevez with Giovinco should do ok.
  7. Re: Italy > Serie A TIM > 30th - 31st August

Ac Milan - Lazio Lazio to win 3/1 Bet365 Ac Milan have looked woefully in the preseason, they have not really bought any players to address the needs of the team while lazio have been making some smart buys. First game of the season in front of home fans for the new coach, the pressure will be on, I can Milan starting the season slowly
Wow can't believe prices. Milan priced up on name.
  8. Re: Italy > Serie A TIM > 30th - 31st August Chievo v Juve It's matchday 1 in Serie A and maybe that's the reason the odds are higher than usual vs Chievo. I don't expect Juve to start with any rust as I saw them play preseason matches in Australia and they played sharp and won them all. They played also "all star" teams from a couple asian countries and won with embarassing score lines. 8-1 was one of them against Indonesian all stars. Chievo lost their last 3 friendlies and on 23rd August lost 1-0 in the cup to lowly Pescara. 4 losses in a row. They have retained Vidal, Pogba and Pirlo. Keeping these 3 together is the strongest asset the team has and Chievo has no answers to this midfield domination. I'll go for the straight win here as we saw last season time and time again Juve winning matches just 1-0 (especially away) but always looking comfortable throughout. Juve to win @ 1.60 (expect this to shorten)

  9. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday August 28th Thanks for the heads up Senk. I backed Lyon to win their first match of the league vs Rennes and forgot about them completely after that. Must of been luck because since then they've fallen apart by the look of it. This article on uefa.com illustrates how motivated the Romanians are for this match. Can't imagine this is more important to Lyon than getting a CL place in the league. So hopefully that difference in motivation (selection) will be the crucial factor here. http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuropaleague/news/newsid=2135831.html

  10. Re: Manchester City v Stoke City > Saturday August 30th There is a nice little dynamic of healthy competition going on between Dzeko, Augero and Jovetic to be top dog I think. Jovetic scored the first 2 against Liverpool and then as if to one up him, Augero comes on and scores in 8 seconds :lol Ensures punters there's no complacency or slowing down because even at 4-0 up they all want to get their name on the score sheet.

  11. Re: Leicester City v Arsenal > Sunday August 31st

Admittedly Leicester did do OK against Chelsea this past weekend until the first goal popped. But Chelsea were laboured and lazy for the first 45 minutes' date=' and I doubt Arsene will allow his players to make the same mistake. [/quote'] Well Arsenal have a match midweek which is infinitely more important than this one. Any number of things could eventuate there which would have an impact here. The match could go for 120 minutes and fatigue the team. There could be injuries to important players. Players who start against Besiktas, may not be fit enough to start against Leicester. All the preparation during the week will go into beating the Turks with little time available afterwards to focus on Leicester. We already know there are fitness issues with Giroud and Sanchez. Will Koscielny be fit? Or will the 19 year old fill in once more? All the while Leicester will be working solely towards this match with no other distractions. They would of probably taken heart from their solid showing at the bridge. Let's not forget that when the scores were 0-0 Courtois pulled off a fantastic parry from close range to deny the away side early in the second half. That looked to be going in for all money too. If it did, would the result have been different? Who knows. I'm not suggesting Arsenal won't win but these are factors that need to be seriously looked at and maybe they have something to do with the larger than expected price. If Arsenal run themselves ragged vs Besiktas then maybe they'll look laboured against Leicester too.
