  1. Re: Euro 2012 > 8th - 9th October

Luxembourg vs Belarus Belarus @ 1.29 (Betfair) I know every team is always motivated to win at International level, and to therefore use motivation in analysis of a pick is often seen as bad reasoning. But I really think Belarus will want this one just that extra bit more than usual, because after their amazing win away in France and their 0-0 draw with Romania they are actually in a position where they can challenge for qualifying for a major tournament for the first time. As has been mentioned before on here, Belarus are definitely one to watch for the future. They are an emerging nation with some excellent recent results under their belt, not only the win in France but also a friendly draw with Argentina and a victory over South Korea. They are known for their attacking football and have not slipped up against any minnows in recent years, dispatching of Andorra and Kazakhstan with ease in World Cup qualifying. The 5-1 win in Kazakhstan in particular makes me confident about this game. Luxembourg meanwhile are also improving (though not at the rate of Belarus) and are now a level above the likes of Andorra and San Marino. That said, they still get beaten the great majority of the time; they only picked up four points in the latest qualifying campaign, three of them coming in a 2-1 win in Switzerland which has to go down as one of the best international results in recent years. I would point to their 0-4 home defeat to Latvia (in WC qualifying) and their 1-5 home defeat to Wales (a friendly, but still signficant) as markers for how I think this tie will go. Luxembourg will play with a lot of pride but they know they are have no realistic chance of qualification as opposed to Belarus; this combined with the class difference means I can only see one winner. A lot of people will think there is no value here because of the odds, but I would beg to differ. It may be a low price, but I would price it as around 1.1 so for me this is good value. To add to your returns you can always put it in a double or wait for the AH prices to come out and back Belarus -1.
Excellent insight into this game mate and just what I was after. Also agree with the fact that it does contain value as all I knew about Belarus before was that the best of teams struggle to beat them (often they don't) and also they have Hleb. Any other players of note on the Belarus team? :cheers
  2. Re: Euro 2012 > 8th - 9th October Just some early scratchings to debate over... I'm looking for a solid accumulator and considering: Slovenia at home to beat Faroe Isalnds - Slovenia were in the WC and were a very tough to beat unit. Belarus who beat France in Paris to beat Louxembourg away The dutch away to Moldova - nuff said And Spain at home to Lithuania - nuff said but Lithuania seems like the sort of team that might be better than their reputation, not 100% on this one especially if Spain take 3 points for granted Does anyone see flaws with my picks and are there potential upsets in any of these games? I dont care about what the odds will be just that the selections are succesful Cheers

  3. Re: UEFA Champions League > 14th September Fergie's an asshole for doing what he did tonight. I can imagine many punters got burned tonight like myself. But to be fair we should have looked ahead to the fixtures and seen that the big Liverpool weekend game would have been his No. 1 priority and that Rangers would have been an obstacle in midweek and nothing m,ore than a formality because they play in SPL. Well he undwerestimated an got f$#%ed Up yours Sir Alex

  4. Re: UEFA Champions League > 14th September Agree with the above posts on Man U. If anyone saw the game against Everton they were up 3 - 1 then conceded 2 injury time goals in the space of a minute. One of them ofcourse being a Cahill header (how cliche :eyes) My points are: 1. Everton at Goodison are much stronger than Rangers at Old Trafford. 2. Rooney was rested and is primed to rip someones net apart. 3. The manner in which they lost to the toffees would have caused Fergie to spray them in the dressing rooms till their hairstlyes cahnged. Expect a big reaction (ie. Rangers find themselves in the wrong place at the worst time). Also a quick note on Barca. Against Hercules on the weekend Pep rested about 4 players for this clash. But of the most importance were Xavi and Dani Alves who control the flow of the game and "make" goals. Thats what I put it down to and it should be back to Biz for them. And I stood to make a big profit on a weekend multi except I had Barca - Hercules over 2.5 as my last leg. when Hercules scored in 1st half I thought money was already in the bank. But to see Bojan twice fail to tap in square balls which were pracitcally touching the line just killed me :puke

  5. Re: Euro 2012 Qualifying > 7th September Any early team news for England and the swiss? Probable lineups etc? Early thoughts are that England love imposing their might on lesser teams in qualifying stages of tournaments and like to build alot of momentum and create an image of perfection before the tournament much like the Germans and Dutch tend to do. The main difference however is that England then dont square up very well to quality opposition with superior tactics. Therefore focussing on this game the Swiss should be another notch on England's belt IF england field a decent 11 AND dont park the bus like they did againt Spain :@ (bad memories) Are they likely to play this way or open up at home? Cheers :)

  6. Re: UEFA Europa League > 24th - 26th August Manchester City will probably field their squad players against Timisoara. These players however are Adebayor, David Silva, SWP etc who did not play against Liverpool and have a chip on their shoulder and will be out to prove to Mancini why they should be in his starting 11... Handicap this one by 2 or more and 3 or more. Havent seen odds yet

  7. Re: NRL Round 18 Been looking at this forum for the soccer a while now and just realised you guys do this nrl thread :loon Awesome keep up the good work. And Dave on your bets.. um i think I heard Gordon was out earlier in the week and Lui is back in the halves for tigers to push Lawrence back to bench...could be wrong though Anyway cheers and goodluck boys :cheers

  8. Re: Midweek > Friendly Internationals > 31st May - 3rd June Hi Everyone, Im looking at over 2.5@ 1.77 for holland v ghana. No Essien, plus coach will be using this game as a squad test as he has staed in the media. Does anyone know how dutch coach's substituion policy in previous games is like and does this seem like a solid bet? Thanks :cow
