  1. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday October 3rd

Esbjerg are second in Denmark, and Salzburg top in Austria. Denmark are 19 and Austria 26 in the UEFA rankings. I have seen both sides recently and Salzburg seem to have the more impressive team and can be very effective in attack. They won their first Europa League game 4-0 at home to Elfsborg, and on Saturday they thrashed Wiener Neustadt 8-1 at home. But they can be poor away in Europe. Last year they lost in Luxembourg to minnows Dudelange in the Champions League. Esbjerg knocked out St Etienne in the qualifiers and surprisingly won at Standard Liege in the first group game. If they raise their game and Salzburg under-perform, they could get the better of the Austrian side at home.
Salzburg are basically a billionaire playtoy and used to buy a new team every year. This year however they kept all important players and that was a good decision.
  2. Re: UEFA Europa League > Thursday October 3rd Lyon - Guimaraes Both low scoring teams in their respective leagues. Guimaraes have scored 2 goals (1 at home, 1 away) in the last 4 league games (2 games against Porto and Benfica though). Convincing EL win against a side (Rijeka) that honestly has been very lucky to face a terrible Stuttgart team in the qualification. Also apart from Dinamo Zagreb Croatian League is terrible. Lyon's glory days are over and their last league game at their own ground endet scoreless against Lille. In Europa League they also started with a scoreless draw at Real Betis. Under 2.5 @ 1.8 bwin

  3. Re: Zenit Saint-Petersburg v FK Austria Wien - Tuesday October 1st Despite usually jinxing myself by posting here I'll say the following. This is an absolute must win game for Zenit. They want the knockout stage as much as Atletico and Porto. Austria Vienna have been poor in Austrian domestic football lately and are also in some sort of mini-crisis. Of course they will be defending like hell and hope to get a point. For Zenit it's not only a must-win but also a game where they can do a lot for goal difference. Given that I'd go for handicap win Zenit.

  4. Re: FK Austria Wien v FC Porto > Wed 18th September

Some Austria players (and fans) were disappointed to be draw into a group "just" containing Porto and Atletico! That tells me, that their "Champions-League-mind" was never programed to win. They would rather lose against Bayern or Barca than against Porto. For me they are clearly missing the drive even draw against Porto.
This is nonsense. Of course they were dreaming about playing Real or Man United before the draw. Every small club in Champions League does. That doesn't mean they are lacking "Champions-League-mind". I'd be surprised if Austria Vienna manages to steal even 1 point in their 6 games. Austrian football is so far away from CL-quality, it would be a minor sensation. They had all the luck on their side in Zagreb and were completely outclassed in the second leg at home.
  5. Re: Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund > Tue 30th April Like the 'More goals in 2nd half' bet. Dortmund will try hard to avoid an early goal from Real and their focus will (understandably) be on keeping a clean sheet. Everyone in the football world has witnessed what happened to Milan after that early Messi goal. That's the last thing any team wants against a Top 2 Spanish side. Sooner or later Real will get desperate and create more and more room for Dortmund's counters.

  6. Re: Arsenal V Bayern Munich > Tuesday 19th February

The pace of German football is not slow, I watch it week in week out, it is as frenetic as the premier league. Also, Bayern's form in the group stages is pointless, this is now knock-out, the mind set will be completely different. Arsenal just lost at home to Blackburn in the FA Cup, in which was a must win game for them, and they had no excuses. Borussia Dortmund play like Arsenal, only are much better. The German league is a lot stronger than you think.
I never said it was slow. Just think the average EPL team plays at a higher pace than the average German team. I wasn't talking about Dortmund or Leverkusen, which are top class but there is without a doubt more quality in the EPL. In Germany it's Bayern, Dortmund and Leverkusen; in England United, City, 3 London teams, Everton, Liverpool.
  7. Re: Arsenal V Bayern Munich > Tuesday 19th February

Very hard to envisage anything but a Bayern win tonight. I have been watching Bayern all season and they are real contenders for the champions league, they are playing superb stuff, and are a traditional champions league club. Last 23 games, 19 wins, 4 draws, 16 clean sheets, 66 goals, average 3 goals a game. I think Arsenal will struggle to score tonight, Bayern to win to nil could be a good option, but I do fancy Bayern at around even money to win the game. Arsenal lack in defence, lack in midfield, Walcott will be well marshalled, just don't see where an Arsenal goal is coming from against probably the best defence in Europe right now?????
Bayerns away results in CL 1:3 loss against Bate 1:0 win Lille 1:1 Valencia (when they were already qualified for knockout stage) nothing spectacular. sure Arsenal have seen better times but it's not like they are another Celtic who don't even know how they got to the knockout stage. european nights usually give a team some extra boost and Bayern hardly encounter a team like Arsenal in german bundesliga. the pace of the games there usually is much lower.
  8. Re: Group H > Dec 5th (CFR Cluj, Galatasaray, Braga, Man Utd)

If you backed United in any' date=' way, shape or form, sorry but you don't get any sympathy for me. Everyone should have known Ferguson didn't give a flying hoot about tonight's game, top of the group regardless and City away on Sunday? I know where his priorities lie.[/quote'] With Cluj going for last 16 I was on the over and bts. Even if Ferguson plays they young uns they will be eager to make an impression (which he didn't). However I was wrong again and that has finally taught me that EPL is a big joke. Dortmund for instance is a football team, with proper football players. United is an American like show business team like the Lakers or Yankees. English mentality sucks. That's why they always fail so hard at the world cups and euros.
  9. Re: Group E > Dec 5th (Shakhtar, Juventus, Chelsea, FC Nordsjaelland)

Chelsea -3 (EH) @ 3.10 sportsbet Obvious class difference between the two sides and Chelsea should win this easily. But expect them to make the most of this to ram home a few goals and look to shut up some of their critics who have criticised their recent displays. They beat them 4-0 in Denmark and believe that a similar scoreline will occur here
Under DiMatteo I would expect the Danes to get hammered, under Benitez I wouldn't be surprised if it ends 2-0. They have scored 1 goal in 3 games and West Ham certainly are no giants.
  10. Re: Group D > Dec 4th (Man City, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Ajax)

Dortmund also have no motivation as they have guaranteed top place no matter what happens. City need to win to get into the Europa League' date=' thats if they want it. Could see a lot of Dortmunds reserves playing this one. Good luck with your bets :ok[/quote'] Sorry, but you are wrong there. Dortmund have the chance to beat the English League champions, also City was awarded a controversial last minute penalty at Etihad Stadium, so there will be enough motivation.
  11. Re: Group J > 8 November (Lazio, NK Maribor, Panathinaikos, Tottenham) Maribor Double Chance @ 3.90 bwin Maribor draw @ 6.00 bwin Maribor win @ 9.75 bwin I'm sure you can even get better prices at other sites. After all it's Spurs. A bunch of pansies who still can't accept they weren't allowed into Champions League because of Chelsea's lucky victory in Munich. For Spurs it's PL, CL, FA-Cup, then the other 17 English Mickey Mouse cups, then Europa League. Despite having not really won much the last 30 years, Redknapps spell made them think they were a big club and Europa League is beneath their dignity. Now Redknapp is gone and was replaced by overrated AVB who had the luck of being Mourinho's assistant. For Maribor this competition actually means something. They have shown some good results. Dominated Panathinaikos at home and won 3:0, good performance in Rome and drew at their ground where Tottenham was woeful. I'm not saying Spurs can't win but I don't expect a lot from them.

  12. Re: WC - Europe Qualification > 12 October

England -6 (EH) @ 2.40 sportsbet England beat Moldova 5-0 away while San Marino lost 6-0 at home to Montenegro. The English have a strong squad for this game and with Rooney getting the captaincy, expect him to have a big game for them. Hard to see this not being a high scoring win for the English and would not be surprised that they score double digits here if they push themselves all the way. They do have to travel to Poland on Tuesday but would expect a number of players to push their claims to be included in the first eleven with a very good game here
england scoring double digits? they will score 4 or 5, then sit back and do nothing like the typical spoiled fairies that they are.
  13. Re: Group C > Oct 3 (Malaga, AC Milan, Anderlecht, Zenit SP)

Well the more you look into it the more you can make a case for a Malaga win here' date=' although I was tempted by the high price on Anderlecht at first, must admit. Very tricky this one but 2.46@Pinny for Malaga to beat a team [b']that needed two last minute goals against the mighty AEL of Cyprus (playing at home by the way) just to qualify for this tournament could prove to be decent.
because they parked the bus buddy, that's how chelsea won the cup
