  1. Re: 2010 Boxing Thread

Still not managed to catch the whole fight but it looks like that was the most 'off' prediction I have made - little disappointed but hey ho shite happens:) Will update tables at some point this week - not sure how good the reading will make though:$
Na, I think a lot of people had Sonsona winning that one.. hard to see that outcome but there were questions about his heart that will grow even louder now. It reminded me a bit of the finish of Ortiz-Maidana, just didn't look interested at all. It'll be a long way back but he is only 19 I suppose. Just seen James Toney has signed with the UFC.. :eyes
  2. Re: Ufc 110 M.Bisping to bt. W.Silva by KO 5pts 4.50 PaddyPower M.Bisping to Win in Round One 2pts 10.00 Betfred Silva, although a legend, has been KO'd in 3 of his last 4 losses which is worrying for an aging fighter who has been through his fair share of wars and was much less susceptible to being sparked in his earlier days (1 'proper' KO, 1 cut stoppage, in 37 fights prior to 2007 compared to 3 heavy KO's in 6 fights since). Everyone knows that a fighter's punch resistance is one of the first things to go and this could be the case with Wand here. He will be further hampered by the weight cut to 185, a cut which he has never made before and he even had trouble cutting to 195 in a catchweight contest against Franklin last year. Silva can always land the big shot but has always been hittable and even more so at this point of his career. Bisping has enough power, in my opinion, to floor Silva here and will be the much slicker, more fluent and quicker fighter, especially knowing that he will not have to defend the takedown with a fighter like Wanderlei. Rich Franklin beat Silva convincingly on the feet last time out but couldn't put the nail in the coffin and won a decision, I'm hoping the weight cut could help to increase the chances of a KO here. Bisping showed great heart in his last fight with Kang and I think he'll take advantage of Silva's demise in grand style tonight.

  3. Re: Ufc 110 R.Bader to bt. K.Jardine by Decision 3pts 3.50 PaddyPower R.Bader to bt. K.Jardine 10pts 1.67 StanJames Bader has wrestled his way to decision victories, losing just one round on 6 scorecards whilst doing so, in his first two UFC performances and although I don't think Jardine will be so easy to control as his first two opponents, I do think that Bader will eventually catch Jardine's infamous leg kicks and have enough success with the takedowns to grind out a decision. I don't think Jardine's awkward stand-up style will be enough to bamboozle Bader for long as he will look to impose his will on Jardine with relentless takedown attempts. I do recognise that Bader has the power to KO Jardine but I'd have the decision favourite over that particular outcome and if Bader doesn't have success on the feet, he has a strong contingency plan in his high quality wrestling that should get him the win here against a stuttering Jardine who has lost 3 of his last 4 bouts.

  4. Re: Ufc 110 Good to see some interest in this, should be a good one. Couple of speculative picks.. Chris Lytle vs. Brian Foster Fight of the Night 1.5pts 9.50 PaddyPower Lytle has won this award in his last 3 fights and 4 times out of his last 6.. it is noticeable that he has somewhat embraced his role as a slugger/gatekeeper type and makes a point of making his fights exciting, almost to the point of abandoning any form of tactics. Foster is a guy who could match up well with Lytle and this one could be a real cracker.

  5. Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Cleverly in Rounds 7-12 I've taken too, I think Brancalion will hang around for a while, at least half of the fight.. he's been 12 rounds 5 times and is pretty durable. He was done by Brahmer in 1 last time out like Greenhoff points out but I think facing Brahmer at this point is rather more intimidating than Cleverley who can take some time to finish his opponents. He has taken 7 and 8 to get rid of McIntosh and Fry respectively and was taken the distance by Tony Oakey, too. He only has 3 real early wins (before halfway) from his 18 victories so I definitely think there is some value in taking him to finish Brancalion off in the second half. He's 1.73 to win inside the distance now.. 5pts 3.50 @ SportingBet

  6. Re: 2010 Boxing Thread Along the same lines as Greenhoff, I've dutched Chisora in 7,8,9,10 for just under 5.00 with Boyles.. I hate Chisora and I think his power is somewhat questionable but I can remember Baker being on death's door late on versus Williams in a 3 rounder (!) and yesterday he weighed in too heavy for the scales which only went up to 20st so I have serious doubts he can do the full 10 here. I think Chisora is horse sh*t but he should be able to get the job done in the second half of the fight here. Managed to stop Sexton late on for what its worth, and Sexton is a lot better than Baker who clearly has weight/stamina/motivation issues which he admitted in Boxing News this week. 10pts staked in total.. 3.33u, 2.38u, 2.38u and 1.91u @ 15.00, 21.00, 21.00 and 26.00 :hope

  7. Re: Superfoo and PL? boxing challenge Going to have a small bet on Dolan by KO; he had Norton in trouble, flooring him twice, in their first meeting and the 38yr old has only fought once in the meantime.. he's getting on a bit and will drop his hands at times so at 7.50 I think it's worth 1pt on a Dolan KO/TKO. What do you reckon superfoo?

  8. Re: MMA Betting Thread

Nice picks Pete:clap. I missed the weigh in but looking at it Johnson was a shoe in but 6lbs overweight is plain ridiculouus!! Poor card overall in my opinion....Bader dissappointed as well but Velasquez didnt!
Cheers, mate. To be honest I thought Rua was robbed, he had a flawless gameplan and caused substantial damage to Machida. The rematch has been all but confirmed so that'll be interesting. That deicision added to the Froch 'win' has left a bad taste in the mouth for me. Velasquez was awesome but he does seem to lack that ferocious one punch KO power, dodgy stoppage too although Rothwell was never going to win.
  9. Re: MMA Betting Thread Not the greatest pick I suppose but I can't see past Stevenson (1.50 Skybet).. I can see this being a boring 3 round blanket from Stevenson as Fisher gets overwhelmed by Stevenson's strength and wrestling.. was going to go for the decision method of victory but I could also see him locking in one of those chokes. Also, despite missing weight by 6lbs (!) I think Johnson is going to be simply too big for Yoshida (1.33 Skybet).. Machida, a perfect 15-0 should almost certainly have too much for Rua who hasn't beaten a top contender for years (Liddel was and is shot) whilst Machida has been giving Rashad Evans, Thiago Silva and Tito Ortiz a lesson. Seeing the way Rua gassed in a 3rd-er against a 60yr old Coleman I think he'll eventually get KO'd in this one (1.73 SportingBet).. The treble pays 3.14 @ SportingBet :hope

  10. Re: boxing betting thread I think Dirrell got screwed. He landed the cleaner shots, Froch was the only one in serious trouble.. He landed counter shots throughout and made Froch miss all night. Froch was made to look stupid swinging wildly and missing time after time. Dirrell was trapped in the corner numerous times but weaved his way out and caught Froch with so many check hooks whilst staying out of trouble. I hate all this warrior bullsh*t.. why should Dirrell stand there and trade with him when he could just outbox him all night? I thought Dirrell showed all the skill and dictated the fight. You could tell Froch thought he had lost it at the end, ridiculous decision in my opinion. How did Froch get away with not getting a point taken yet Dirrell wasn't even warned for holding and got one taken (at least I don't think he was warned). I didn't even think it was close :wall

  11. Re: boxing betting thread

I'm having a nibble on Harrison, outright. I read a post on eastside a few months back before this was announced where someone said that if you put a headguard on Harrison and put him in a 3 round contest he's probably still the best heavyweight in the UK. I agree with this in a big way, IMHO all of Audleys problems stem from the fact that he doesn't believe he can do 12 hard rounds. That results in him just retreating into his shell, as he doesn't have the chin or the punch to take people out early. If he had the stamina he'd be a different proposition entirely over 12 rounds. Anyway, spotted some massive value in Harrison's first fight - He's evens with paddypower to win by points or decision. That's astounding. I'm on that. Also taken him at small stakes to win the whole thing.
    2.20 at Betfred now :ok
  12. Re: Cricket: Indian Premier League 2009

IPL RECORD 3/5 OR +10 PROFIT 20 POINTS ON CHENNAI @ $1.55 For the benefit of Justin and others i will do a right up. This match up has to be one of the easiest one's to pick as it is just simply men vs boys. Hayden and Raina have been on fire so far this ipl with Dhoni as back up with Oram and co form a formidable batting line up. The Kolkata Knight Riders are hopeless winning only 1 match this tourny, infact if it wasn't for Macca and Sharma i would fancy a under 17 team against them! Chennai are the best bet of the tourny for me
    You've f*cked that right up!
  13. Re: boxing betting thread

What happened' date=' I forgot al about it and just switched it on as they were whosing a replay of Rogan stood t the ropes, finished.[/quote'] Sexton boxed well, probably well ahead on the scorecards, Rogan massive welt under left eye, somehow comes back and just about KOs Sexton with one eye. Has him done, Sexton stands there with his hands down, shaking his head and Rogan won't punch him! Sexton tagged a couple more times, looks ready to go and then the ref takes Rogan to the Doc and it's all over due to the eye! Biggest bruise (not cut) I've ever seen..
  14. Re: Darts!

Good spot' date=' but culpable error - if you bet on it it will be voided[/quote'] A couple of days ago Florida Marlins were 1.66ish everywhere but 2.25 at VictorChandler, who obviously had their odds mixed up. I got on a decent sized bet and was paid out. Didn't even have an account there just opened it to place that bet! You get away with it sometimes :nana
  15. Re: Boxing...Ricky Hatton vs Manny Pacquiao

does anyone really think Floyd Jr will be chomping at the bit to get in the ring with him? Yes, definately. Pacquiao has been knocked out twice by flyweights. As undoubtably a brilliant boxer he is that stat will give all his potential opponents at welterweight the belief they can beat him. Comparing the manner of Floyds victories over DLH and Hatton to Pacquiao's is essentially a pointless exercise. Yes Pacquiao had the more eye catching displays but that was always likely based on the style of the two fighters. Floyd is a master defensive boxer and will be harder to hit than anyone the Pacman has faced thus far. Mayweather is good enough to control a fight against Pacquiao with his superior ringcraft and providing he still has 100% commitment to the game will most probably take the victory.
Surely looking at KOs from 10years ago when the guy weighed nearly 30lbs less is just as pointless? He is so much better now than then that it's not even the same boxer. People also were saying ''we'll see how good he is when Oscar/Ricky hits him at this weight'' but neither looked like doing so. Maybe it is just impossible to hit him! I dunno, just don't think Mayweather will be knocking out Pacman anytime soon. If this one was a close thing then that one will be as tight as anything. Apparently some bookies are already offering odds on whether Hatton will fight Khan next?!
