  1. Re: Sky Bet League 1 > Saturday February 1st Swindon look a good price to me: were 5/4 yesterday, slightly shorter at 6/5 this morning with betvictor. Swindon 10 wins from 13 in league at home this season, Oldham 9 defeats from 15 in league away this season & have lost 5 of their last 7 games. Can anyone put me off, as thought Swindon would be odds on here?

  2. Re: Sky Bet Championship > November 22nd & 23rd

Das Phantom's post is spot on. Burnley should be much shorter than 3.30 Forest back line ruined, having to rely on youngsters and despite trying desperately to loan players to cover...those loans were all rejected. Also missing their joint top goal scorer. You just can not afford to field Defenders that are essentially amateur. It never works, they do not have the confidene to make the decisions that matter and the restrain to not make the decisions they do. Think there's great value in backing Burnley who seem to have a pretty much full strength squad to chose from. So my pick: Burnley to win at an average of 3.37
Forest could still field a defence of 2 full internationals for Chile & USA in Jara & Lichaj, England under 21 player in Chalobah and experienced club captain Cohen, so not essentially amateur. Think Hobbs will play if recovered enough from virus. Will still be makeshift though & Reid a big loss, so do agree Burnley are value pick.
  3. Re: Championship > 11th Jan - 12th Jan

Nottm Forest v Peterborough +0.75 @ 1.90 Bet365 (3 Points) The factors look good against opposing Forest here and I think Posh are facing them at a good time. MacLeish hasn't won a match as manager there yet and with the squad looking depleted it doesn't look any easier. Hutton, Jenas and Ward have all finished their loans and returned to their respective clubs. Captain Danny Collins was sent off on the weekend so woll be suspended and that makes 3 'first choice' defenders now out for this match including both centre halfs. Andy Reid limped off injured so is also a major doubt for the weekend. Posh's form has been much better lately and Dwight Gayle is looking a real player for them. They had a bad defeat in the cup on the weekend but they should have some key players back for this match and they are up against a depleted Forest side. The line is a 0.25 out for me and as such I will be taking the +0.75 on Peterborough.
an update on Forest's situation: Our first choice keeper Lee Camp has been told he can leave, so our No 2. karl Darlow has been recalled and will start. He's a fairly promising 22 year old keeper, but it will be his first start at this level. We have reloaned Ward though I don't rate him, and also another defender in Jara from WBA. Jara has only made one first team appearance for WBA this season so will lack match fitness. Also Andy Reid will be out for about a month. So the general odds of 4.75 available on peterboro to win look good value, or the safer option of the handicap which Wisey10 has advised.
  4. Re: League 1 > Sat 8th December

Docaster have been hit by a huge sickness bug in the squad mate and struggled to field 11 players against crewe in the JPT in the week, Thats why the price is as big as it is.
it looks like the virus has mostly cleared up for Doncaster: http://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/news/article/preview-swindon-town-a-530666.aspx?pageView=full#anchored while Swindon have a fair few players out themsleves including their captain http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20564721 so at a general price of 10/3 (4.33) Donny look a good value bet having won their last 4 league games & 7 from 10 of their league aways. whilst Swindon have lost their last 2 games. League Leaders priced at 5/4 with Stan James at home to a team only out of the relegation zone on goal difference does seem too high to me, so worthy of a bet on Tranmere. Ok Tranmere not doing so well of late, but neither are pompey with 6 league defeats before a draw last time out. Then we have Stevenage priced just under 6/4 away to bottom of the table and a long way adrift Hartlepool. Yes Stevenage form has dipped off late, but they have a good away record with 6 wins from 10, while Hartlepool lost 7 from last 9 league games. Finally Leyton Orient who have won their last 4 league games look value at 12/5 away to Bury.
  5. Re: Forum Speed? Good, Bad or just Urrrrrrrrrrrgly? further to my above post on IE it's very slow, (below slow would be my vote) pages really struggling to load, pages just left as a white screen or I get a proxy error.. This is when navigating on general chat topics. I was on a few other subforums a bit earlier for where speed I would describe as slow; though not sure why there should be a difference in sub forums speed? switching onto firefox and my vote would be between acceptable & fastish.

  6. Re: Forum Speed? Good, Bad or just Urrrrrrrrrrrgly? 1. Acer aspire 2 ghz , 4gb memory - given my system a good clean yesterday. 2. 32gb free of 120gb 3. virgin media running at about 10mb 4. Usually IE 8, sometimes chrome, firefox 5. everything else mostly runs smoothly & quicker Similar to Rivrd, forum was quicker before.. Paul your internet speed is around double that of mine, and 4 times that of Rivrd, so probly expected that your pages would load twice as fast as mine, four times as fast as Rivrd.

  7. Re: Midweek > England > Championship > 31st Jan/1st Feb just a few pointers on the brum v leeds match guys; brum are the form team in the championship hence the odds. Taking last 6 league games into account, leeds have only picked up 7 points, while Birmingham have picked up 16. So it's a no bet for me... Taken from bbc website: Birmingham City • The seventh-placed Blues are top of the Championship's "form" table, and are unbeaten in nine league and cup games, of which the last five have been won. • Chris Hughton's side, who'll be visiting Chelsea in the FA Cup, have racked up 14 points from the last 18 available, and are one of three clubs on a three-match winning run currently in the Championship. • They have scored 14 goals in four games, while not conceding any (all comps). • Birmingham are chasing a sixth win in seven league and cup games against Leeds, and three in a row. Meanwhile Leeds have picked up seven points out of nine following a three-match losing sequence, to leave them three points outside the play-offs.

  8. Re: Midweek > England > Championship > 31st Jan/1st Feb Nottm Forest v Burnley (pick Burnley best priced 21/10 @ betvictor) opposing my own team here, well they are rubbish.. just sold our best defender to Leicester, our other experienced centre back is suspended; which basically leaves us with just one first team centre back in lynch, who has about 50 games experience in this division & about 70 in leagues 1 & 2. partnering Lynch is likely to be a makeshift defender in Moussi. Moussi is really a centre mid, and in defence he gets exposed quite easily.. Our only club left back who is a loanee (cunningham) may not be back from injury; though he'll have to play whether fit or not cos no one else can fill in.. We have no fit wingers, Reid doesn't count as he is wide but can't really play wide. We do have about 7 central midfielders to choose from (including new loanee Guedioura) & about 7 strikers, but the only one who knows where the back of the net is is our wonder kid Bamford. Despite Bamford scoring 8 goals in the FA Youth Cup against Wigan & Southampton recently, Cotternil says he is not ready for first team action.., whilst Forest have no defence, we also barely score any goals, & haven't scored a goal at home since 19th November... Forest home league record this season sees 9 defeats out of 14, whilst Burnley have won 7 out of 13 away from home this season. Oh and last 5 h2h's read: burnley 5-0 forest forest 2-0 burnley burnley 1-0 forest burnley 5-0 forest forest 1-2 burnley

  9. Re: England > Carling Cup (Second Leg) > 24/25 Jan Palace make 11 change for tonight's match - i.e have their best team out tonight as far as I know. I agree "Thruspider", there is some value on Palace to qualify, though I'm actually laying Cardiff for the match, and backing them in extra time markets and a bit of a saver on penalty shoot outs. 7.75pts lay of Cardiff - 1.73 (8/11) @ betfair 1.25pts Palace to win in extra time - 16/1 @ ladbrokes is cracking value, as they should be fresher as none of their players started on Saturday; also away goals kicks in after extra time & Cardiff have no away goals from the first leg. 0.5pts palace to win on penalties - 33/1 @ ladbrokes 0.5pts cardiff to win on penalties - 33/1 @ ladbrokes

  10. Re: 2011 Boxing Thread Klitschko v Haye - I agree with most punters here that the power of Klitschko will be a step too far for Haye. My local bookie is offering 8/11 on a Klitscho win which is better than anything online; so I was going to lump on with them tomorrow, but then I saw skybets prices which offer even better value. It's under Group betting © 5pts Klitscho to win in rounds 1-6 @ 5/1 6pts Klitscho to win in rounds 7-12 @ 4/1 and I've even added a cover with betfair in their method of victory market: 3pts Klitscho by Decison/tech decison @ 5/1 This looks like a good way of playing the markets to me, if you fancy Klitscho to get the job done more likely than not by KO.

  11. Re: F1 2011 Season Thread (Inc. Outrights) Luckily Perez came away from the crash in Monaco Qualifying with no injuries. Hamilton paid the price for not putting doiwn an early marker in Q3, he finds himself starting the race in 9th after losing his only Q3 lap time for cutting the chicane in a lap which he said Massa impeded him on and his tyres were too cold. It's going to be hard for Hamilton to make up too many places in the race, though a safety car or 2 could shake things up. Kobayashi has finished in the top 10 every race this season. he qualified 13th on the grid; and the sauber is kind on the tyres, so can hopefully make up a few places as other drivers struggle for grip, or take advantage of a safety car. He's a general 6/4 for a points finish. Barrichello will effectively begin 10th on the grid, can choose starting tyre strategy and can count on a wealth of experience on this street circuit. He said he got held up in traffic which stopped him reaching Q3. He's around 6/4 for a points finish on betfair. I'll also looked to get matched at betfair on Kobayashi, Barrichello, and also Maldonado for top 6 finishes around the 10's mark. Maldonado is new to F1 this season, but has a likening to monaco - "I feel good heading to Monaco and it is definitely my favourite track and a place where I’ve had great results over the last five years (including one win in World Series and two wins and two podium finishes in GP2),”

  12. Re: Golf: European Tour 2011 - BMW PGA Championship I'll go with last years winner Simon Khan to finish in the top 10 which is 28/1 at totesport. The defending champion at 175/1 to win outright is a bit surprising, He has no recent form to speak of as has missed lhis ast 4 cuts, he has though been looking forward to Wentworth all year. http://www.sportinglife.com/golf/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=golf/11/05/24/GOLF_Column.html&BID=585

  13. Re: Cricket: The Ashes 2010/11 Aus name squad for 3rd Test.. Justin Langer, Matthew Hayden, Ricky Ponting, captain, Michael Hussey, Michael Clarke, Andrew Symonds, Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Brett Lee, Stuart Clark, Glenn McGrath, Mitchell Johnson (12th man). Ricky was reported as saying that we believe these are the men most capable of getting the job done and beating England once again. if you are good enough age doesn't comng into it.. Ok it's really: Hughes Watson Ponting Clarke Hussey Haddin Smith Johnson Harris Siddle Hilfenhaus Michael :beer but the first squad probably more likely to make a game of it.. :rollin Australia admit they have no other option as they bring back the two bowlers they drop. Feel a bit sorry for Hauritz, as now another random left arm spinner (Michael Beer) with just a few domestic games played is called up instead of him...

  14. Re: PL Fantasy Premier League 2010-11 Surprised to find myself top of the pile, as I keep bringing in players after they have scored a bag full of points, then their points scoring dry up. Bale, Carroll, Johnson.., and this week brought in Berbatov and Gerrard. Also whichever players I bench score plenty of points which I miss out on. Top 50:

  15. Re: Cricket: Friends Provident Twenty 20 A shame weather in part ruined the spectacle. Hants nearly messed it up in the final near the end, with Kieswetter also managing to miss about 4 shy at the stumps. Plus Somerset would have won it if they had taken the bails off at the strikers end, as Christian ran a single off the final ball when he had a runner. Bit gutted as a Notts fan, that the rain came at the time it did. Disagree with you santos as 35 runs off 3 overs was perfectly getable for Notts with Hussey in and set, Somerset scored 48 off their last 3 overs, and 64 off their last 4.
