  1. Re: England > Weekend > FA Trophy 3rd Round/BlueSQ Bet Prem Feb 4

A note of caution for people looking to oppose York tomorrow. Gary Mills has gone on record saying he is desperate to lead a side out at Wembley so I would expect a pretty strong side from them tomorrow (if the game is on). Also they beat Ebbsfleet with 10-men in the league fixture a couple of weeks back so I expect it will be a pretty tough game for Ebbsfleet.
I was just about to post virtually the same post! So ive changed it. York are taking the competition seriously and will probably field their first team. It will probably also include at least two of their three new signings. Doig could be a particularly good signing as their defence has let in some silly goals when they have dominated games. walker will probably be on the bench and come on at some time. i really cant see an upset here. Its nice and sunny in York and all the frost has gone so i dont think there are worries about the game going ahead.
  2. Re: England > Weekend > Championship > 4th/5th Feb

Saturday 12.30 : West Ham - Millwall Such an enjoyable read from everyone here, great to find a totally committed bunch of punters. I'm still taking a back seat for a few weeks as I have a heavy business commitment looming in two weeks and as negative as it may seem I can't risk any loss. However, that won't stop me posting my tips, being disciplined enough not to place them under the circs' being a good sign in itself. West Ham - Millwall : I can not see West Ham winning this. Their last home victory was only c/o two penalties and to need to win a game against Forest in that manner says enough. [Hold on, theres a roar in background, crikey thats a shock, Santamarinda Tandil have just taken the lead at Boca in the Arg' Cup, I don't even know what league they're in but its at least third tier]. Back to Wet Spam, conceding 5 goals at Ipswich on Tuesday was admirable, Millwall with Darius Henderson back are scoring again with the exception of their 0-2 slip up against Watford who they have a habitually poor record against anyhow in recent years. I've not been to this fixture at West Ham, but did have the pleasure of this fixture at the old Den back in the mid to late 80's, what an atmosphere. In their earlier meeting this season it was 0-0, early kick offs rarely seem to produce great games but then this one could kick off at anytime in other respects ! [Hold on, another roar, that's a shame, Boca just equalised] West Ham Not To Win : Lay Odds on Betfair hovering around @ 1.625
Millwall double chance is 7/5 with Paddy power ie win or draw
  3. Re: England > Weekend > Championship > 4th/5th Feb Portsmouth Hull first goal 28 mins or over evens Coral I agree with the general consensus that Pompey Hull will be a close game with few goals. The time of the first goal after 28 minutes at evens looks an interesting bet here. Both teams usually keep it very tight and rarely score an early goal. Hull have only managed 1 goal before the 28th minute in their last eleven games so look unlikely to bring the bet down. Portsmouth are slightly better and seem to have found their scoring boots in the last two games. However they have only managed 6 goals before the 28th minute all season. The bet does need a goal to win but I'm not concerned about that as Portsmouth havent had a 0-0 at home all season. In light of the two teams records evens looks a decent price.

  4. Re: World Cup 2012 - 3-5 Feb Austria to win 4th Quarter 11/1 Victor Chandler The forth quarter consists of Netherlands,N. Ireland, Austria, Gibraltar, Denmark and New Zealand. The 4th quarter appears a very weak group with Gibraltor and New Zealand fielding virtual unknowns in their team. Denmark’s Per Laursen is solid enough but unspectacular. However he must surely be let down by his partner: Hoffman. To be honest I thought Hoffmann retired a long time ago. From what I remember he was never up to much in the nineties anyway. That just leaves N. Ireland, Netherlands and Austria. N. Ireland’s main player is Brendan Dolan. Dolan is best remembered for his appearance in the final of the world grand prix last year. The result however appears to flatter him as he has not achieved anything else of note before or since. His partner Michael Mansell has done precious little since winning the Tom Kirby Memorial Championship in 2010 and qualifying for the world champs in 2010. It’s hard to see him making much of an impact. That just leaves the Netherlands and Austria. Obviously the Netherlands are a strong favourite and should win their quarter with ease. However Barney has looked a shadow of his former self on recent tv tournaments. He appears to have serious issues and I don’t fancy lumping on the Netherlands at 1/3 to win the group. Van de voort is obviously a quality player but not someone you would want to put your mortgage on. His game can sometimes go awry. He played well in the world champs but did lose all three qualifying matches in the grand slam of darts earlier that year. So If the Netherlands do underperform that leaves the quarter wide open for Austria. Suljovic is a good consistent player who can hold his own against some of the best in the world. When last seen on tv he was beaten 3-1 by Nicholson but played well enough and averaged over 90.. He appears in decent nick at the moment in the recent players’ championship in Spain he beat Andy Smith and Colin Osbourne before narrowly losing out to Matt Clark 6-5. His partner is Dietmar Burger. He is the chap who got whitewashed 4-0 at the world championship by Perez averaging a mere 67! Obviously he is better than he showed in those 4 legs otherwise he wouldn’t have qualified for the world champs by winning East European qualifiers. If he plays to his best ability Austria could perform well.

  5. Re: England > FA Cup > Weekend > 27/28/29 Jan Liverpool v Man utd Liverpool over 6.5 corners Bet365 6/5 I'm surprised this is odds against. Liverpool have gone over 6.5 in every home game this season except the opening one against Sunderland where they managed 6. Many times they have gone over with ease managing double figures on 5 occasions. I'm assuming that because they are playing a good team in Man U the bookies think they will get less corners. However they managed 8 against them when they met in October. Liverpool proved that they can still notch up plenty of corners against the better teams by achieving 12 against Man c this week. It looks a great bet to me.

  6. Re: Sky Shootout 27-29 Jan M Dunn 100/1 Most firms A Higginson 80/1 Stan James In what is basically a coin toss event you realistically would like to see around 63/1 for the field. Therefore as proved last year the value lies in picking players at a bigger price than 63/1. M Dunn is a capable player on his day and reached the quarter finals last year. his kidney stones health issues are now behind him as he showed with his recent 147 break. Ive always rated Higginson who is also a member of the 147 club. He hasnt broken through into the top 16 as I expected but is still a very capable player on his day. He proved this last September when he beat Higgins in the final of the PTC event 5. Good luck to antone having a bet. :hope

  7. Re: Ghana v Botswana - Tuesday 24th January Half time/Fulltime Draw /Ghana 7/2 ladbrokes I dont know an awful lot about these two im just coming at it from a value point of view. It seems apparant that Ghana are clearly the better team and that Botswana keep things very tight and dont concede many. thereforee I can envisge a tight first half with Ghana eventually breaking them down in the 2nd half. The 7/2 with ladbrokes halftime draw full time Ghana seems a decent price.

  8. Re: England/Scotland > Midweek L1 & All Cups - Jan 17/18 Tranmere to beat Rochdale Evens VC Willhill Ladbrokes Coral I was expecting Tranmere to be a shade odds on in this one so I'm pleasantly surprised to get evens. Rochdale are having an awful season and have only won the one game since the 1st October. They even managed the unthinkable by losing to Hartlepool! Tranmere themselves are having a poor season but they are fairly solid at home losing only three of thirteen. The big diferance between the two is that Tranmere regularly score whereas finding the back of the net seems a real struggle for Rochdale. Rochdale have managed just the 2 in their last 6 games whereas Tranmere have scored 7. The draw no bet at 4/9 seems the safe option but Im happy to take the evens on a home win.

  9. Re: Tennis: Australian Open 2012

Matthew Ebden (-6.5 games) to beat Joao Souza- 4/6 Bet365- (6/10) Quite where this line has come from I don't know as I still probably would have taken it at the (8.5) mark so this is a bonus. What else Souza is doing here apart from collecting some cash I find hard to imagine. He plays very very little tennis on anything other than clay and hasn't ever won a grand slam match on the hard courts so it's hard to envisage him having anything at his disposal to trouble an Aussie who has been in good form. Ebden beat Granollers last week in Sydney and then pushed Baghdatis all the way to a final set tie break. He also took a set of Stepanek the week before in Brisbane so he should have a ton on confidence and see this as a great chance to get to the second round in his home tournament. He had some really good results on the hard courts last season, picking up wins over Simon, Harrison and Petzschner whilst he was extremely competitive against Nadal on the grass which show's what he is capable of. This really should be all about the Aussie in front of the crowd and if he gets off to a good start, Souza may well just play for the sake of it, knowing that the clay tournaments aren't far off and that's where he'll pick up his ranking points. Hard to look past Ebden here and he should win this with ease.
Ebden to beat Joao Souza 3-0 11/10 Blue Square Got to concur with everything you say here Fishy. Joao Souza is an out and out clay courter who shouldn't trouble Ebden much. Ebden has been mixing it with some good players lately and performing admirably. He should have way too much and I believe the straight sets win at 11/10 offers good value.
  10. Re: Snooker: 2012 Masters

2pts Dott to win Q4 18/5 Boylesport Dott would need to beat Carter (which I think he will) and then probably Williams in the 2nd round. Both Williams and Stevens by what I've seen recently are in poor form and I feel Dott can beat any of these on his day. He is far more consistant nowadays and this is a nice price.
I believe that its Higgins or Stevens for the winner of the Dott Carter match.
  11. Re: England > Midweek > Non-league Jan 9-10 LUTON TO WIN TO NIL 5/4 CORAL BLUESQ Luton should have little difficulty scoring against one of the weakest teams in the league. As well as scoring freely in recent games they are also keeping it tight at the back. Stockport have failed to score in 6 of their last 7 games; in their last match against Gateshead they managed just the one shot on target. . Therefore the 5/4 price looks appealing to me.

  12. Re: England > FA Cup 3rd round > Fri 6/1- Mon 9/1 Coventry to beat Southampton 11/4 most firms Southampton are not the force away from home that they are at home. They have won only three of their 12 away games this season which is poor for a team topping the table. Their recent form has also been poor winning only 1 of their last 6 and culminating with the 3-0 defeat at Brighton. The FA cup is likely to be be a low priority for Manager Adkins who will probably rest some key players and he will also be without leading scorer Lambert due to suspension. Coventry are no world beaters but have improved of late and must have better than a 11/4 chance against a weakened out of form Southampton who are more concerned about the league

  13. Re: Darts: BDO World Championship 2012 Paul Jennings ew 66/1 Sadly the 100/1 that was widely available on Jennings a few days ago has gone; but 66/1 is still available with Ladbrokes. Jennings is a decent match player and knows how to win tournaments. This year he has won four tournaments culminating with the Latvian open. Unfortunately he has a difficult draw but if the big names underperform 66/1 is too long for someone of his ability.

  14. Re: Darts: BDO World Championship 2012 Scott Waites to win 4/1 Bet365 Waites is the class player of the BDO consistently achieving averages most BDO players can only dream of. He has a poor record at the world champs for someone of his ability: never managing to get past the quarter finals. However I believe the disappointment of the Grand slam of darts this year will make him even more determined to win the world champs this year. He is currently in good form recently winning the Zuiderduin masters with an average of 99. The obvious dangers are Winstanley and Adams. However Waites holds a 3-1 head to head over Winstanley including a 7-2 victory this year in the Winmau world masters. Although behind in his head to heads with Adams it’s significant that Waites has won the last three. He potentially has a difficult second round tie against Hankey but I believe he will come through it.

  15. Re: England > Weekend > Premier League > 30 Dec-1 Jan Liverpool Newcastle race to 9 corners - Liverpool 6/4 Victor chandler Newcastle usually manage between 2 -6 corners a game so therefore look unlikely to get the 9 required. Therefore its just a matter of whether Liverpool can manage 9. They have managed a total of 55 corners in their last 5 matches and have won the race to 9 on 4 out of the 5 occasions. Therefore the 6/4 on offer seems generous.

  16. Re: England > Boxing Day > Npower Football League One > 26-27 Dec Huddersfield v Chesterfield Rhodes to score an hat trick 12/1 Coral Willhill This has to be a good value bet as long as Rhodes hasn't gorged on to many mince pies. Rhodes is clearly a class above this league and seems to score at will. He has already managed 3 league hat tricks this season including last week against high flying Sheffield Wednesday. If he can do it against Sheffield Wednesday there is no reason why he cant against Chesterfield. Chesterfield are one of the weakest teams in the league and regularly concede. Its highly plausible that Huddersfield will score a few with Rhodes being the most likely goal scorer. Considering he is 5/2 to score two today 12/1 looks a good price.

  17. Re: 2012 PDC World Darts Championship

Dunno about anyone else but I'm going right off Newton during this match' date=' love to see Pipe win this although fair play to Wes on the 170.[/quote'] Couldnt agree more. From a betting point of veiw I wanted it to go the distance but I'd much rather see Pipe win now
  18. Re: Darts: Players Championship Finals 8-11 Dec

No idea what Osborne was throwing at but he wouldn't have hit a double if they were as wide as the single. .
Slightly off topic but given the respective form shown by Van gerwen and Osbourne I'm surprised to see that the bookies cant split the pair in the world champs. Van Gerwen best price 10/11 Ladbrokes.
  19. Re: England > Midweek > BlueSQ Bet Prem Dec 6

Good stuff, addpea. It's a pity that Darlington are the visitors or else I'd be more inclined to look at some of the exotic bets at fancy prices. On the basis that Kettering should tire badly in the 2nd half with little to come off the bench, I've backed over 1.5 Darlington 2nd half goals at 7/5 with Paddy Power. Although they will be weaker than at York on Saturday, it's interesting that Kettering actually managed 6 corners to York's 5. They also managed 5 goal attempt during the game but only 1 on target.
Hi Im not making a prediction but I just thought I'd give you some info on the York Kettering game. The corner stats and shots are not all at relevant. Kettering had one weak shot in the whole of the game from distance and for the life of me i cant really recall many of the other 4 shots off target except to say that they never really looked like scoring. Corner stats can be misleading for example AFC Tooton managed 10 to Bristol Rovers 3 on Sunday. From what I saw of Kettering they were defensively poor although the early goal probably didn't help. York's wide men basically had a field day which was Kettering's undoing. If Darlington have similar quality on the wings then a comfortable win is likely. However if they don't have the quality wingers then it might not be as easy as you think. Good luck with your bet :)
  20. Re: England > FA Cup 2nd Round > 2-4 December

It seems MK Dons will make wholesale changes for the trip to barnet "MK Dons boss Karl Robinson will make a host of changes for the FA Cup second-round tie at Barnet. As he did for the first-round tie against non-league Nantwich, Robinson will include a handful of teenagers in the squad. Leon Lobjoit, 17, George Williams, 16, and Brendan Galloway and Dele Alli, who are both 14, are in the running to be on the bench."
BARNET TO BEAT MK DONS 4/1 SEVERAL FIRMS Good info cc135. I was looking at this one as a possible upset anyway and now I'm convinced the 4/1 is a great price. I'm sure Barnet Manager Lawrie Sanchez would love to to get one over on MK Dons and with the Dons not taking it too seriously there seems every chance. Barnet have picked up a little of late winning there last two and drawing the one before that. In a one off cup tie against a weakened side they must have better than a 4/1 chance. Its fair to say Sanchez has a liking for this competition having scored the winner against liverpool in 1988 and taking Wycome to Semi finals about 10 years ago. So its well worth a dabble I reckon.
