Re: Best race course to visit
Cartmel is one on my list of "courses to visit", mate. I love to watch the racing from there and it's a pretty quirky course with the finishing straight going through the middle of the course, and I don't think I've seen houses as close to a racecourse as I have done at Cartmel. I watched one race and as the horses were at the post I saw a women pull her net curtains to one side to watch the start of the race which was literally yards from the front of her house:lol i'm pretty determined to make a meeting there this year:hopeI was going to post a thread asking if anyone has been to Cartmel. I was in Cartmel last year but no meeting was on at the time. I had a walk around the course, plenty photos of me and my kids jumping the fences (one or two on my facebook page). Always looks good on TV, feel sorry for the jockeys having to race by with the smell of the BBQs roasting away trackside. There's a trememdous chippy in Flookburgh for after racing, the legendary local sticky toffee pudding from the village shop (I had one tonight during the footy), the bakers in Grange do a fantastic steak pie for lunch on the way in, and their 'beesting' cakes are just amazing. Do I want to go back there or what? -
Re: In Loving Memory board
I'm with Nymrod here. In my opinion we don't need a warts and all dedicated thread or a list of "Fallen Heroes", if you like, in order to any more appreciate the entertainment these animals have given us over time. Simply put, I appreciate what horses and jockeys put on the line every time they race and I'm more than capable of reflecting accordingly to what extreme highs and lows the sport can bring without a thread like this, even though it's very obvious Tipster created it with the very best intentions.:okSorry Tipster, I for one don't feel comfortable with this thread. The fact that so many wonderful animals died so tragically in the pursuit of our entertainment, makes uncomfortable reading. Feel guilty about this, especially the "cause of death" column. I'm sorry, but I prefer to keep my head buried in the sand and not to be reminded of this. It is bad enough to hear of events such as yesterday at Aintree, but to see a whole list of tragic cases is soul destroying. :sad -
Re: Going to the Cheltenham Festival
Cass, are you working in the Best Mate enclosure like you were last year? Or have you managed to get an upgrade to Tatts?;) If you're in Tatts, Paul Ross and myself are there on the Tuesday and we'll find you and say hello! You might even dip your hand in the heaving satchel and sort us out with a bevvy:loon:tongue2:cheersSome of this lot on here go for drink first, the racing is secondary. :rollin:rollin I'll be working there for 4 days, and I hope we get hotelled in Cheltenham this year, it was a fecking drag to Worcester last year, not helped by being soaked through on Tuesday. -
Re: PL Exclusive League with Devilfish Poker - Starts February 23rd Nice one for getting this deal!:clap Jase, it's been a while since i've played but i'll have a bash at this one. Could you send us the password mate, please? thanks:ok

Re: Jim McGrath (Aussie Racing Commentator)!! McGrath is rubbish imho. He looks like a spitting image puppet and always sounds half asleep. Hoiles and Holt, top class:ok I'd also like to throw John Hunt's name into the ring too, I think he's brilliant and his knowledge of racing is superb.:ok
