  1. This is an idea Ive thought about a few times before and wanted to run it past you guys. People quite often pick up on when a horse is declared to race and becomes a NR then appears in a race a few days later. This is usually noted as its expected that they decided on the second race as the horse was fancied to have a better chance in this race. What you dont get to hear about as often is when a horse has multiple entries for a week but is only declared for one race. The RFO lists all entries for the upcoming week. Often theres horses which may hold up to 5 or so entries for that week. Could the same idealogy be applied here in that if the horse ends up only being declared for one race from several entries that it is fancied to have a good chance. Has anyone here looked at this and/or does anyone believe its something that may be fruitful if looked further into?? All/any opinion/thoughts appreciated.

  2. Re: Lingfield 31/10 Actually like Texas Gold today. Followed him for the last few years. He loves Lingfield with a more than impressive record at the track (18 runs, 7 wins, 6 2nds, 2 3rds) He hasnt been upto much recently but looked close to being back to it two races ago when coming 3rd to Matsunosuke. That day he came 1/2 length behind Osiris Way on level terms and today recieves 3lbs. LTO he disappointed coming 8th of 10 but was over 6f. Today he's back to his preferred 5f, same distance as the previous race with Osiris Way. A year ago he was racing in Class 2 but since then hes plummeted down the ratings and either there has to be a stopping point or he's seen his best days. Im prepared to give him at least another chance.

  3. Re: Aintree 28/10/07 Definatly didnt see anything from Kauto Star to put me off him next time out. He did seem a little disinterested to start but once he got woken up seemed ok and considering it was 1st race of the season, and conceding so much weight , more than happy with the showing.

  4. Re: Aintree 28/10/07 Backed Katchit lmost every race last season and was on again today. Lie you said, great horse and another good display. May be my heart ruling my head but Im going to have to side with Kauto Star. I know hes giving weight, I know Nicholls says hes mainly there for a run and I know he may not be at 100% fitness (which all tells me to leave alone) but in my eyes the horse could have been feasting on Mars Bars all summer and have two legs tied together, he'd still be hard to beat. Stood by him despite the doubters in the Gold Cup and wouldnt feel right to back anything else.

  5. Re: George Washington dies after race Always a tragic occurence when this kind of thing occurs.

Apparently the US horses are used to pounding the hard track but they do get a lot of injuries when its like this and the Racing UK bloke out there feared that this very thing might happen.
I think I remember seeing somewhere that US horses suffer burst blood vessels much more than over here due to this reason.
  6. Re: If you can't bl**dy win then at least get placed!! At the mo Im staking £25 a bet. £10 a day is a rough target. I dont stop when I hit it as I know some days Ill make less, some days Ill make a loss. Just gives a rough good of how much is needed. Yep. Short odds and favs. Ill be the first to admit I cant pick longshots but I can usually pick a good fav and if they dont win they rarely get unplaced. Even if youre backing them as short as 1.15 or so to place, you only need to find 3 a day that short to make the target.

  7. Re: Not to lose accy's You could always use foreign leagues by pretending and substituting in odds. Example: Want to use Lyon. Pick any other team you arent using(e.g. Blackpool), when the odds come up put in the odds available for Lyon. When the perms are worked out substitute Lyon everytime it says Blackpool. The bigger accas permed could be a pain. If it was same stake perms no problem but as you have different stakes youll have to place each bet seperatly.

  8. Re: Help with horses that place? (Placepot Help!)

I do know all the perils of the PP and the fact the tote does take 20%
28%. At work we can see how much is going on each horse for each leg as the placepot develops, giving an indication on whether its going to pay well or not. After Leg 6 you obviously know how much has won. Divide that into 72% of the pool and we're only ever pennys of the actual dividend so its closer to 28% that the tote take.
  9. After reading a piece in the RFO Ive decided to give something a go this season. Im going to back teams to be drawing at HT and winning FT. Odds are generally around the 7/2 mark. In most cases Ill be doing 8 matches and backing them in 56 trebles. At an average price of 7/2, one treble will return around 90pts. Heres this weekends picks: Portsmouth @ 9/2 Everton @ 3/1 Liverpool @ 7/2 Arsenal @ 10/3 Chelsea @ 4/1 Man Utd @ 4/1 Hibernian @ 10/3 Southampton @ 7/2 56 x 1pt trebles
