  1. Re: Ayr 19/4/08 1.55 Mr Crystal I fancy this one to overturn the Nicholls horse and the favorite. Should of won a Listed Hurdle @ Wetherby but a novicey mistake cost it the race and was beaten by La Vecchia Scuola 3/4 length when giving away 21lbs. Now La Vecchia Scuola receives only 3lbs! The trainer has also been waiting for better ground which hopefully it will get today.

  2. Re: Newbury 19/4/08 4.OO Confront Not very original I know but this horse has the best record of any of these and with last seasons form getting franked by Stimulation last Wednesday @ Newmarket in a Listed Race it looks good at 13/8. I guess the one worry would be has he trained on? But I'm sure Mr Stoute wouldn't be running him if he hadn't! The rain shouldn't inconvenience him too much either and I note that he has even been touted as a Derby horse, so you would think that he needs to be winning a race like this to prove that reasoning.

  3. Re: Fun Forecasts For fun a few years back I use to do rev f/casts on the first three in the betting on 2 yr Old Maiden Races. Not to massive stakes but it was loosely based on a 2 yr Old Maiden system that has been around for a few years now. No massive wins but quite good fun none the less.

  4. Re: Hold Up Horses If I'm on a front runner and Phillip Robinson is riding I sit a lot easier. He is an outstanding front running jockey for me, the amount of times he has stolen a race from the front and it's like he's carrying a stop watch sometimes. Regarding come from behind horses I've got a book by Peter Braddock 'Horse Race Selection & Betting' from 1983, and he recommends from a professional view point not to back them! I appreciate that betting is a view point and there is nothing quite like watching your money weaving through a field of horses but it is just as frustrating watching it run up the backside of another nag!

  5. Re: Aintree 5/4/08 Woody, regarding Unowatimeen I couldn't of put it better myself! As long as he is over his broken blood vessel I think he has an outstanding chance. Gypsy George has gone on to frank the form of their race (1st & 3rd in next two races!). I also have a little fancy for Forest Green but I think his weight may get the better of him.

  6. Re: Best Bet of the Day - Sun 9/3/08 Quote:

2:15 Market Rasen - BROOK NO ARGUMENT - 1pt Win Swerved a race at Doncaster last week persumably to run in this easier assignment. John Quinn has a 30% s/rate with his hurdlers here so will know the horse will run well at the course after winning a NHF race here this time last year. Won well lto, when looking well held over 2mile, suggesting horse was crying out for a step up in trip as it really flew in the dying stages lto. All looks good for a win with impressive conditional Harry Skelton riding today.
Now a Non Runner - this will win when it runs !!! SmallTimePunter for your information and if it runs good luck!

  7. Re: Six Nations 2008 Scotland v France Generally I have approved of what Frank Hadden has done with the Scottish side but he may of dropped a clanger in not starting with Chris Patterson. Scotland won't be pretty but I do think this is their best chance for some time to win some silver ware. They have some big aggressive forwards who are in your face and some solid backs who may lack the flair of their opponents but are more than capable of crossing the gain line. This is why I think they are great value still at 10/1 to win the Six Nations outright and I also believe that each country in this Tournament will lose at least once. I would also like to say well done to my Welsh friends for there win yesterday, you beat an English team who put up one of the worst second half displays ever seen on the international stage! But that shouldn't detract from what the Welsh achieved. My only question to the welsh supporters is "Do you think this was a better playing performance than the one in Cardiff last year? I was there and for me it wasn't! The English have issues! Especially in the leadership department Phil Vickery is not a captain and there do not seem to be any deputies to stand by him! When you look at the World Cup Winners of 2003 you had Martin Johnson in charge supported by the likes of Jason Leonard, Lawrence Dallaglio, Jason Robinson & Richard Hill all potential captains in their own right. I think the French out of all the nations have done the right thing, they are building for the future and for this reason I am happy to watch them for the time being and not put any money on them.

  8. Just seen this programme advertised on Channel 4.

21:00 Derren Brown: The System spacer.gif
Investigating the psychology behind gambling and using his unique combination of skills, Derren proves his system works every time. So the advert went Mr Brown plucks some ordinary person from off the street and gets them to scrape together as much money as they can. They are then going to bet that money on one race and using Mr Brown's expert skills they are going to ? Is this the end of this glorious forum, has all our hours of soul searching been for nothing? This man in 60 minutes is going to make us see the error of our ways, make us all rich and the Bookies poor!
This time next year we'll all be millionaires!!!!! :nana
  9. Re: Turkey Super Ligi ( 26-27-28 jan) Kombassan Konyaspor - Ankaraspor BB I was looking at the win for Kombassan Konyaspor in this match, Kombassan Konyaspor look like a strong home team compared to Ankaraspor BB away form. Although it looks like Ankaraspor BB play for the draw away from home. Is there any team news for this match or any other reason that I should look at before choosing Kombassan Konyaspor?

  10. Re: Kempton 5/1/08 I was at Kempton last night and watched the race in question, in my very humble opinion the gap wasn't there but Richard Hughes is an incredible horseman, as he basically picked the horse up from off the dirt, managed to stay in the saddle and still ride out the finish. Hindsight being a wonderful thing I'm sure he would of held back on his finishing kick as he was no doubt on the best horse and probably should of won! Just a foot note, well done to the Irish connections of this horse & the winner of the first race as they travelled for 11 hours to get to Kempton.

  11. Re: Sandown 5/1/08 I couldn't agree more Mileni4uk, I posted this a bit earlier on another thread. Surely we both can't be wrong! :loon Re: Best Bet of the Day 05/01

Sandown 14.40 - Freddie The Third First time out this season he fell at the last when in total control of the race, loves the ground, seems to prefer going right handed and he has a trainer who knows how to get one ready at a big price. There has also been some early money for this horse. Quotes: TOWCESTER 26 December 2007 Soft Freddie The Third, a bumper winner making his hurdling debut, had the racewon into the last but misjudged it badly and fell. As he had raced enthusiastically early in midfield, this was an eyecatching performance and he clearly enjoys soft ground. NEWBURY 10 February 2007 Soft Freddie The Third proved hard to steer around the left-hand turns, giving himself no chance. WARWICK 25 January 2007 Heavy He clearly handles the mud well and looks the typical mould of horse that his handler excels with. Good Luck to everyone & all your bets!! :hope

  13. Re: Wolverhampton 31/12 I know its close to race time but Mission Control in the 2.20, Trainer & Jockey combo look good around here. There is a question mark about time off since last run but trainer does well in this type of race and the Maiden it ran in looks quite reasonable.

  14. Re: Bangor 29/12 An obvious choice but I like the look of Mughas in the 1.25, satisfactory run last time out, condition and distance suit the horse, he stayed on well in his last race and the jockey/trainer combination show up well at Bangor in this type of race. 5/4 now available on Betfair!
