Re: PokerPlayer Magazine & PaddyPower freeroll 4th March 19.30pm Irish Open Package I've no idea mate. It's really up to the sites. It seems like a good balance to me, where the sites don't just get a load of players who play the freeroll and nothing else but it is still a freeroll. That said some sites prefer the buy-in tourneys and some sites like the pure freerolls. It's going to be horses for courses.

Re: PokerPlayer Magazine & PaddyPower freeroll 4th March 19.30pm Irish Open Package
No it's been set up correctly. You need to deposit using the code in the magazine to get a ticket. PPUK Tour returns this issue too. AND a GUKPT freeroll. Busy one after a couple of quiet months.Possible this has been set up incorrectly as it's listed as an 'Invitational' rather than a passworded freeroll. -
Re: 2plus2 campaign to blockade Pokerstars
I'm not sure this is the right place for the discussion on player value, poker ecology and so on. I'm happy to have it though. This is a good balanced recent post on the subject. http://www.pokerstrategy.com/news/world-of-poker/Don-t-Discriminate-Against-Winning-Players-Dominik-Kofert-Blog_54577/ I fundamentally disagree that those who rake the most (with other people's money) deserve the most rewards. And I think some of the parasitic rakeback pros are at best bad for the game and at worst killing it. That's not really the point I was making though. What I most object to is this striking/protesting/blockading a business. PokerStars is not a public service. Poker players are not exploited workers. To take trade union style action against it and try and sabotage its business sits very badly with me. As you rightly say, the correct response is to take your business elsewhere. But that is not what people were discussing.Yes Stars are a business and thats why they should look after their customers. If you went to Currys and spent that sort of money that some Stars players rake for them then Currys would look after those customers. Surely the more you rake/more points you get the better the benefits should be.Isn't that the way to keep your best customers happy. If you raised the price of your magazine would you still expect the same amount of people to buy it especially now with all the information available online. Like everything you don't look after your most valuable customers they will go elsewhere. -
Re: New Year Poker Resolutions 2012 Has someone hacked Jon's account?

Re: 2plus2 campaign to blockade Pokerstars I swear people in the online bubble sometimes lose touch with reality altogether. Stars is a business not a public service. You're not an employee. They don't owe you anything. You can't walk into Currys and organise a sit in if they put the prices up. The police would (rightly) kick you out. You just don't shop there. WTF is the matter with people in poker? Always wanting something for nothing. /end rant

Re: PokerPlayer UK Tour OnLine Qualifiers - Gala/Coral - Grand Final - Birmingham Hi all. It sounds like the tourney was set up wrongly as the live qualifier is normally a $22 tourney. But as it's the final with a higher buy-in this time it's $33. Let me try and speak to someone at Gala and find out what we can do.
-
Re: PokerPlayer UK Tour OnLine Qualifiers - Gala/Coral - Grand Final - Birmingham Freeroll with 10 seats in the $33 qualifier GTD tonight. Gl all. Hoping to run as good in this one as I did in the Grand Prix.

Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 Just got a message from one guy saying he's been paid in full. Hopefully everyone else has too.
-
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 I will chase up for you, but with these manual payments you're usually in a queue on some bloke's desk who has a million other things to do. I'm sure it will get sorted soon.

Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
Were you the guy at my starting table? Or the guy I gave a horrendous bad beat to on the final table?I did indeed :ok Good to meet some folk i've been playing against for years:clap. Thanks Poker Player /BWin for a very enjoyable day,and well done Alun for the "win":spank -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
It was a hell of a brave move with how many short stacks there were on the table and I was the only one who could knock you out. Fair play to you for going for it and I don't think you did anything wrong in that hand. I ran insanely good to win it I have to admit. And it's an easy game when you have a lot of chips. The game was played in a brilliant spirit though and there was great banter all day. Ironically the guy who finished second just sat back and let everyone else knock each other out. Lesson there I guess!:cheers Nice one Glenn! -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
Sorry mate, my bad. I don't see any problem with leaving it to the day. Give everyone a piece of paper with two options. Tick the one you prefer. Doesn't take long to count 28 votes. And if it's tied we will go FT only.where in my post Al, did you see a complaint, i was just asking a simple question. leaving it to the day could be a bit a messy is all, i hope all finalists have a great day whatever the payout :ok -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 Just to clarify. Structure is a good one, and basically same as last year. Grand Prix finals are not supposed to be deep-stacked serious poker they are supposed to be a laugh. Payouts would normally be final table only, but it was suggested by people who are playing in the live final to me that it might be nice if everyone got a piece of the prizepool. Fairest thing to do in my mind is put it to a vote on the day. Here are two prize structures. Which one do you prefer. Can't really see why that would get anyone's back up. Just trying to make sure the maximum number of people are happy with the day.

Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
What are you on about? I don't even know what you're complaining about. I swear you just complain about everything for the sake of it sometimes.what a cop out :p why wasnt this decided before the Grand Prix started? :unsure -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
Starting stack 7k 20 min clock (needs to be finished in 6 hours) Prizepool is 8k. Planning on putting it to a vote on the day between paying out all spots ($100 for 28-20 etc) or final table only. Will be relatively flat structure either way.======= That would be brill Haich:ok thx -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
It's a midday start on the Saturday and the poker will be finished by 6pm so no need for a hotel unless you want to get pissed up and stay over. And that doesn't sound like PL :lolAs I'm sitting 2nd and with a bit of a luck I will make it, I was thinking about getting something from the start. Just to cover a train and hotel. But after rethink, I'd go for FT only :ok. -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 Thanks for the feedback guys. I like the idea of everyone getting something, and the ladder. Although both throw up the same issue. Flat prizepools mean there is a relatively small prize up top. We can give everyone at least $100 for their troubles but that means a top prize of no more than $1k. Starting payouts at say 20th place means we can have a bit more up top for those that win. And obviously just paying FT means chunky prizes. What would people prefer?
-
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 Yep that's correct. Should only be four tables max with a few PokerPlayer donks who can't win any prizes. And $8000 up for grabs. Grand final is indeed on October 22 at the Empire. I guess it's a tough choice for those with other commitments, but that's a lot of value to miss out on. Interested on hearing people's thoughts on how to split the prize pool too. Cheers Alun

Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 And yep. I will see you there. Teeside in October. Living the dream....

Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7
Haha! Yeah, it's annoying when things don't go exactly as we'd like. But fair play to both sites for trying to put it right. People make mistakes. It's how you deal with them that's often more important. I think I've said that before. I must make a lot of mistakes....2 cock-ups in one month Alun, need to kick some poker site asses ;) at least you can rely Gala so far :hope see you in Teesside? -
Re: Poker Player Grandprix 7 I disagree. Anyone who was 'pushing' and cashed has already benefitted from the very top heavy structure. Everyone else will now benefit from the deeper payouts.
