Angel’s Hideaway 3.05 Royal Ascot (E.Way 12/1 Bet365)
Angel’s Hideaway was fourth in the Albany at Royal Ascot last year, so has good course form, but you will need to forgive Angel’s Hideaway for her last performance at Epsom. Maybe it was the track but that run was clearly disappointing she was well behind Saturday’s likely favourite Space Blues. The run was too bad to be her true form. Earlier this season she was third in the Nell Gwyn after missing the start and fourth in the 1,000 guineas. That sort of form would give an outstanding chance.

Home Before Dusk 5.55 Ayr (Win 6/1 Bet365)
Although HBD is a twelve race maiden, he has run mostly in class 5 races, so the class 6 race on Friday should be easier. 10f is definitely his distance, in his five races of 10f or less his form figures read an impressive 5, 3, 2, 2 and 3. When he runs over further (seven times) he has just one third place to his name. Watching his videos he struggles to get home in those races. Hopefully he can give his young apprentice his first ever winner.

Divine Spirit 2.30 Ascot (E.Way 12/1 W.Hill)
There are 28 runners lining up in the Queen Mary but horses with a single figure draw are best avoided. My focus is on Divine Spirit who is nicely drawn in stall 17. She was purchased by Godolphin for an eye watering £850k before making her debut at Windsor. She duly obliged, running the 5f in less than one minute (0.7 seconds quicker than average). This run was even more impressive given that she bolted on the way to the start and needed to wait for a gap to appear before running out a comfortable winner. She should be suited by Ascot’s tougher 5f being a daughter of Irish 2000 Guineas winner Kingman.

Fragrant Belle 6.30 Beverley (Win 6/1 PP)
A filly sired by Sir Percy. This will be her first time in a handicap and she will appreciate the extra distance.
-
Maarek 7.40 Windsor (E.Way 22/1 Sky Bet)
Maarek is one of my favourite horses. He won the Abbaye in France. Now 12 he may not be the force of old but he loves soft conditions. Unlucky at Bath on Saturday.

Youkan 5.20 Salisbury (Win 10/3 PP)
If starting on level terms will go close.

Start Time 17.15 York (E.Way 18/1 Sky Bet)
Start Time’s last run over 6f was in the Ayr Bronze sprint (September 2018) where he finished a creditable sixth, winning the race of those drawn low. That was a good performance and he went up 5lbs for that run. Latterly he has been running over further often weakening in the final furlong. Back down in trip should be to his advantage particularly with the soft going at York. Being drawn high, now 1lb below his Ayr run and having the services of top jockey G Mosse all point to him being very competitive.

Smokey Lane 14.10 Chepstow (E.Way 10/1 Bet365)
Smokey won off 92 and now runs off 72. He may well have fallen sufficiently in the weights to be competitive. He ran ok at Kempton in his last race.

Catalogue 17.05 Yarmouth E.Way 66/1 PP)
Catalogue has very little to recommend him other than Norwich trainer Christine Dunnett is capable of producing the odd winner and KT O’Neil is a good jockey (most of his winners are on outsiders). Hopefully the drop back in distance could bring about some improvement.

Princess Palliser 19.00 Hamilton (E.Way 11/2 Bet365)
Her sire Slade Power loved the soft ground, so I am taking a chance that “Princess P” will also like it. A £58k purchase in 2018 she has had just four runs all respectable if not spectacular (finishing close behind the winner). Her chance will come. Both jockey and trainer are in winning form.
-
Mutarakez 18.20 Thirsk (Win 9/2 PP)
Once rated 101 and raced in the Britannia at Royal Ascot. Those days are long gone but "Muta" can be competitive off a rating of just 68. He has run consistently this year.
-
Lathom 21.05 Pontefract (Win 4/1 PP)
Once rated 100, Lathom races off just 72. Two close seconds at Hamilton and Thirsk but with trainer P Midgley in form he should make up for his near misses.

Double Up 16.10 Goodwood (E.Way 12/1 W Hill)
Low drawn numbers have a big advantage over 6f at Goodwood. Double up is drawn best of all. Once rated 107 he is now down to a workable mark of just 87 and he should find this drop in class much easier. Still well thought of, Ian Williams Racing shelled out £43k for the eight year old, racing him in Meydan and very competitive class 2 races, hence the poor recent form numbers.

Cold Stare 16.10 Haydock (E.Way 14/1 Bet365)
The Haydock Dash will be anything but a sprint. With the going heavy I am going for a horse with stamina that has been running over further. When others are emptying, Cold Stare should be finishing well.

Korcho 18.20 Haydock (Win 7/1 PP)
Toronado is another sire whose prodigy are better suited by soft ground conditions, so the rain forecasted for Friday will definitely be in Korcho’s favour.
-
Kenny the Captain 16.30 Hamilton (Win 11/2 Bet365)
Captain Rio is a sire whose prodigy are best suited by soft ground conditions, so the rain in Scotland will definitely be in Kenny’s favour. Nine times a winner over 6f and 7lbs below his last winning mark, Kenny should go close.
-
Dirty Rascal 19.15 Kempton (E.Way 16/1 Bet365)
Top weight Dirty Rascal is ultra-consistent (won or placed - 8 times from 11 races) and clearly has the best form on show having finished second in a £300k race at Doncaster and has an appearance in a Group 3 race. He is only two pounds above his last winning weight and with regular pilot Tom Marquand back in the saddle he should go well (Form with Tom riding 2, 2, 1, 2 1 & 6).

Home Before Dusk 18.20 Newcastle (E.Way 8/1 Bet365)
HBD is an eleven race maiden who will need to improve to reverse the placings with likely favourite Ishebayorgrey. When they met last week at Ayr the bookie was unable to split them HBD 13/8, Ishebayorgrey 6/4. Watching the race back HBD was marooned in the middle of the track and did not go through with his effort so the booking of Joe Fanning is a real positive and can make all the difference. He often runs over further but 10f is definitely his distance with form figures of 2, 2 and 3.

Oso Rapido 14.15 Thirsk (E.Way 6/1 PP)
I am hoping “Oso” lives up to his name. Sired by Kodiac he is bred to be speedy and costing £90k in October 2018 good things should be expected. His second on debut was a reasonable racecourse introduction and with both trainer and jockey in excellent form he should go close.

Roman River 16.30 Nottingham (Win 9/2 Bet365)
Roman River was second beaten a head by Ornate who won the Epsom Dash on Saturday. Top jockey G Mosse rides.
-
My Lady Grey 20.00 Stratford (E.Way 15/2 PP)
My Lady Grey is nicely bred being sired by presenting and related to Generous. It is a surprise to she is still a maiden after 10 races. Last time out she came close to losing her maiden tag when second fitted with cheek pieces at Fontwell. The cheek pieces are retained.

Arnoul of Metz 5.00 Chepstow (E.Way 9/2 Bet365)
Arnoul of Metz flew home to finish second over 5f at Musselburgh. A repeat of that effort would see him go close.
