Snooker: World Open 2010

Recommended Posts

The 2nd ranking tournament of the season (formerly the Grand Prix) gets underway on Saturday. Odds Comparison haven't realised this yet, so here are the main contenders with their current Betfair prices: Ronnie O'Sullivan 7/1 Mark Selby 8/1 Ding Junhui 14/1 Stephen Maguire 14/1 Ali Carter 14/1 Shaun Murphy 15/1 Mark Williams 16/1 Neil Robertson 16/1 Judd Trump 20/1 Jamie Cope 20/1 I'm not quite sure how this tournament will fly from a betting perspective - the short format (best of 5 frames) matches could make it a bit of a minefield, but could also throw up some very juicy long odds winners. As I understand it, there will be just the one table with a roll on roll off policy with 3 matches in the afternoon and 2 in the evening, so the start times for individual matches may vary. Full coverage on the BBC red button and online.

Re: Snooker: World Open 2010 I should probably have added that there will be a random draw after each round, so there's no market for quarter winners etc. Also, 11 matches have been held over from the last 64 until the TV stages, so 21 players are already through to the last 32. They are: Judd Trump Marco Fu Martin Gould Fergal O'Brien Ricky Walden Matthew Stevens Andrew Higginson Joe Jogia Marcus Campbell Liu Song Alan McManus Jimmy Michie Nigel Bond Mark Davis Stephen Lee Mike Dunn David Morris James McBain Matthew Couch Ken Doherty Jamie Cope Plenty of unfamiliar names and a few TV debutants in there. The last 64 matches still to be played are: Sat 18 Sep 2.30pm Neil Robertson v Graeme Dott Ali Carter v Thepchaiya Un-Nooh Stephen Maguire v Stuart Pettman 7pm Steve Davis v Peter Ebdon Shaun Murphy v Dave Harold Sun 19 Sep 2pm Stephen Hendry v Bjorn Haneveer Mark Williams v Igor Figueiredo Ding Junhui v Adrian Gunnell 7pm Jimmy White v Paul Davison Mark Selby v Barry Hawkins Mon 20 Sep 12.30pm Ronnie O'Sullivan v Mark King
