Re: Rugby League: Super League Rd 26 & Co-op Champs A magnificent occasion beckons tomorrow. Sold out, weather forecast ok = superb entertainment. Don't envisage there being 10 points between them, in a toss up of a game. On paper, Warrington the better side this season, finishing higher in the league (which does'nt lie), but Leeds with the far, far superior big match pedigree, and have had the pleasure of doing the double over Wire this term. Warrington have only had one win and five defeats to their 'big 4' rivals, so still plenty of work to be done on their big match pyche. Leeds, for all their stuttering early/mid season form, have three wins and three losses amonsgt the 'elite'. Besides a couple of early season games, all top 4 matches between the heavyweights of Wigan, saints, Leeds and Wire had very little between them. Warrington under the expert guidance of tony smith, broke their trophyless duck, winning this competition last year, and are legitimately bidding for the GF in a few weeks. Smith has a wonderfully expansive team under his command, and there's lethal strike options all across their threequarter line. Still novices on the big stage compared to the Rhinos. Multiple grand final wins/app's (tony smith set the template after some desperately barren Leeds years before he arrived) give Leeds the advantage in the big occasion stakes. The Rhinos memorably saw off Wigan and Saints in the QF and SF, whilst wire eased past bottom club catalans, and were run close by Bradford in the QF. Just a few titbits. :D
