Newbury 16th April

Recommended Posts

2.40 Newbury A very hot handicap with nearly all of these bringing group and listed form to the table make this perhaps one of the hottest handicaps you will see all season. Elnawin is current fav and I just cant have simply has done all winning over 6f and is becoming an extremely hard ride often racing very freely hard to envisage a run over 5f will improve that just likely to bomb out and try and make all. Hard to cross many of these out but willing to give Tamagin a chance at the prices second in group2 reads well upto this standard on penultimate start, although not won over 5f hasnt recieved many chances and now 9lb higher than last win in handicap he has won a listed event since and has always gone well fresh!! 0.5pt e/w tamagin 12/1 sj

Re: Newbury 16th April 14:10 Newbury Managed to get this down to one strong fancy and one as a saver at a nice price for some each way value. Many of these will likley improve for this but I feel High Constable is a superb bet at current prices. This will be his first run on turf but his win at Wlverhampton in a Class 5 maiden has worked out very well. The second place has boosted the form big time since then, the Mark Johnston trained Greyfriarschorista went on to win 3 in a row after that race and finished off his season by finishing second in a Listed race at Lingfield off a mark of 96 where he was only beaten by a neck. This suggests to me alone that High Constable is very well in today off a mark of 87. The 3rd horse from the same race has also went on to win twice since in Class 5 races and is now rated 71. I just feel the boost of the second horse alone should give my selection a brilliant chance in this race. Has yet to run over today's trip but pedigree does show that it should suit. For a bir of each way value I will be going with the Hannon trained Planet Red who has beaten a group 3 winner in Carnaby Streetwho is also trained by Hannon. Carnaby Street has also placed at Listed level off a mark of 105. Judging by that piece of form he is well in off a mark of 86 and Hannon/Hughes have a good strike rate at this track. Has only tried the trip once at York but the going may have been against him that day and the good ground will definately be more appropriate for him here today. Like my other selection pedigree does show that 7 furlongs should suit the horse. Did run on the AW at the start of the month but that may have been to blow any cobwebs away. 1pt win High Constable @ 8/1 (Paddy Power - BOG) 0.5pts E/W Planet Red @ 20/1 (Paddy Power - BOG)
