One Jump Ahead 2009/2010-Mark Howard

Recommended Posts

Just dug out my copy of this that I haven't looked at since before Christmas and thought I would see how his 40 to follow were getting on. Going to put them up on here incase anyone else likes to see how the pro tipsters do...... AiteenThirtyThree-Tipped to do well when it switched to fences, he did expect it to perform in hurdle races. Finished 3rd behind Reve De Sivola on its first start and then finished 2nd to Adams Island Alaivan-One to follow throughout the winter, will take a very good horse to beat him. Won 2 out of 3 of its starts over hurdles at very short prices. Was turned over at a short SP by Carlito Brigante who has turned out to be a decent horse. Currently trading at 6/1 for the Triumph Hurdle Alfie Sherrin-Expected PN to give him one run over hurdles before sending him chasing. Expected him to emerge as a leading contender for the RSA. 3rd behind Mr Thriller over hurdles on his first start. Won a class 2 over a further distance(3m) next time out. Will be entered in a handicap at the festival BallyBriggan-Won its bumper well and looks set for a good season over hurdles. Beaten 1/2 a length by City Theatre on its first start, was then turned over when odds on favourite at Sedgefield nto, lto finished 3rd behind Ranjobaie in the National Hunt Novices Hurdle Qualifier at Market Rasen. Bensalem-Likely to be given one run over hurdles before going chasing. The RSA looks an obvious target, a tremendous prospect for novice chasing. Started off chasing career with 1/2 length win in a class 3 at Plumpton. Was then beaten by PN's Take The Breeze at Exeter, before falling at Haydock and finishing second at Newbury to Diamond Harry each time. Currently trading at 40/1 for the RSA, looks likely to go for William Hill Trophy instead Cooldine-Has to be short list material for the 2010 Gold Cup. Disappointed on his reappearance when pulled up in the Lexus won by What a Friend. Ran a lot better in the Hennessy Gold Cup when beaten a neck by Joncol. Currently trading at 15/1 for the Gold Cup Copper Bleu-Jumping fences should come as second nature to Copper Bleu. Every chance will go for the Arkle. Beaten over 11 lengths into 3rd behind Take The Breeze on its chase debut, was then turned over at 1/2 before winning at the 3rd time of asking in a class at Exeter. Definity-Three miles over fences should suit best. PN nominated him as his horse to follow. Has not run this season Diamond Brook-Put away for the summer to keep his novice status intact, looks a horse to follow. Finished just over 2 lengths behind Pepe Simo on his first start. Finished 4th nto before winning a class 4 novice hurdle at Exeter Diamond Harry-Will go over fences and should develop into a good chaser. Will start off over two/two and a half miles but could improve again when stepping up to three miles. Won a very decent handicap hurdle on his first start of the season, before being outpaced by Big Bucks on his next start. Switched to chasing and has flourished, winning 2 out of 2. Currently trading at 17/2 for the RSA Finian's Rainbow-Will make smashing chaser in time but looks one to follow over hurdles in the meantime. Won 2 out of 3 novice hurdles he has gone for. Only beaten a length by Reve De Sivola in the Challow Hurdle. Currently trading at 15/2 for the Neptune Great Endeavour-Nice prospect for chasing and plenty of improvement to come. Could be a live contender for the RSA. Beaten a length by Lie Forrit at Cheltenham on his first start. Has never really shown that form again, although he did win a class 3 at Towcester. Perhaps could do with stepping back up in trip Inchidaly Rock-Could be a potent force in staying novice chases this season. Time will tell if good enough for the RSA but if not should go well in the 4 miler at the festival. Beat Hey Big Spender comfortably twice at the start of the season in 3 mile novice chases. Then fell in the Argento Chase at Cheltenham won by Taranis. Last seen being beaten 16 lengths by Diamond Harry. Entered in the RSA and the 4miler Kangaroo Court-Has the speed to win over 2miles but will prove best over two and a half. Won all 3 of its starts this year, beginning with a 2m3 Novice Hurdle, then a 2m Novice Chase and finally a 2m4 Novice Chase at Cheltenham. Currently trading at 69/1 for the Arkle Lidar-Fine novice hurdle prospect for 2009/2010. Still only four, looks a horse with a bright future. Beaten 6 lengths by Ghizao in a Cheltenham bumper on his first start this year. Sent off second favourite for a class 3 novice Hurdle at Cheltenham blundered 2 out and soon faded, finishing 4th Long Run-Connections believe he will be suited by 3 miles in England so RSA will be the target. Anthony Bromley said he is the next superstar horse. Has looked a classy horse albeit it with some slight jumping errors. Won the Feltham over 3m on his first start showing great speed, was then dropped down to 2m for the Kingmaker but won again. Currently trading at 27/1 for the Arkle and 5/1 for the RSA Mac Aeda-Has the makings of a high class jumper. Likely to have one more bumper run before going hurdling. Sent off favourite for a class 6 bumper at Market Rasen, was beaten 3/4 of a length. Entered for a 2m Novice Hurdle at Newcastle on Saturday Manyriverstocross-Been well schooled and jumps nicely. Two miles won't be a problem, stamina wise. Likely to feature in the Supreme Novices. Won on his first start, a maiden hurdle at Chepstow. Finished 3rd at Ascot when good ground didn't seem to suit before coming back to form with a win in the Winter Novices Hurdle at Sandown. Finished 7th in the Challow when the distance did not seem to suit. Back down to 2m for the totesport trophy and ran well to finish 3rd. Trading at 80/1 for the Supreme Novices and 25/1 for the Neptune Michel Le Bon-Another exciting novice chaser, very much one to keep on the right side of. Won a 3m Novice Chase at Newbury by a distance on his only start of the season Mikael D'Haguenet-Set to go novice chasing, only problem will be discovering his optimum trip as he is bred to go 3miles as well as having the pace for the minimum trip. Injury problems have been well documented, he is due out on Saturday or Sunday in Ireland. Currently trading at 23/1 for the Arkle and 14/1 for the RSA Noble Alan-Good record first time out and worthy of support on chasing bow. Will take some beating, especially on the northern circuit. Won on his chasing debut before falling at Aintree and finishing second to I'm Delilah at Doncaster. Oscar Whisky-Could be contesting the very best novice hurdles by the spring. No suprise to see him run well at Newbury or Ffos Las. Won a bumper and a maiden hurdle at Newbury before winning a novice hurdle at Sandown. Currently trading at 11/1 for the Supreme Novices Pandorama-Very effective on slow ground, will go chasing. Definitly better going left-handed, could be a gold cup horse in time. Won all 3 starts since going chasing including two grade ones. Currently trading at 13/1 for the RSA Peddlers Cross-Looks a smart prospect, will start off in a bumper before embarking on a hurdling career. Won his bumper at Haydock when 11/4 2nd fav. Has since won two 2m1 novice hurdles beating Radium and Scriptwriter along the way. Currently 10/1 for the Neptune. Premier Sagas-Tremendous long-term prospect. Expect him to develop into one of the North's leading novice hurdlers this season. Beaten a neck by Turbo Island on his first start of the season, then went onto win a class 4 at Market Rasen. Finished 3rd at Doncaster in a National Hunt Novices Qualifier lto Punchestowns-Likely to start off over two and a half miles. Could then drop back in trip and be aimed at the Arkle. Can't fail to win good prizes. Won both starts since going chasing including a grade 1 at Sandown. Currently 3/1 for the RSA Quantitativeeasing-Potentially smart novice hurdler for JP McManus. Won first two hurdle starts at long odds on before being beaten a neck in a class 2 novice hurdle at Kempton. Currently trading at 15/1 for the Neptune Quwetwo-Number one novice chaser for Howard Johnson. Gives the impression he will stay and gallop all day. Beat Zaynar on his only start this season when making all over 2m2 Reve De Sivola-Will stay at 2miles for the moment but gave the impression a step up in trip will suit. Will win some good prizes over hurdles before going chasing. Ballymore looks the obvious target. Won the Persian War novice hurdle on his first start, before being beaten by Tell Massini at Cheltenham. Got back to winning ways in the Challow Novices Hurdle. Currently 12/1 for the Neptune Riverside Theatre-Built for fences, will no doubt be introduced at Kempton before a return visit at Christmas. Won a beginners chase at Newbury before going on to win a novice chase at Kempton 2 days after Christmas. Currently trading at 10/1 for the Arkle Royal Charm-Could be the next Big Bucks, will start over hurdles before going over fences next year. Won two hurdle races at Exeter before coming 3rd to Restless Harry in the Grade 2 novice hurdle at Cheltenham on the 30th Jan Somersby-Will be a very smart chaser. Could give H Knight first grade 1 success since 2005. Won his novice chase on his first start of the season before winning a very high class grade 2 novice chase at Sandown. Currently trading at 11/2 for the Arkle Spirit River-Will come into his own over fences but will be kept over hurdles this season. Came 5th in a conditional handicap hurdle before winning a class 3 handicap hurdle at Cheltenham by 6 lengths. Finished well down the placings in the Totesport Trophy Stormy Weather-Could develop into one of the Norths leading three year old hurdlers. Has ran 4 times over hurdles so far this season and only win came in an ordinary class 4 at Newcastle. Tarablaze-Horse with a touch of class, should develop into a more than useful chaser. Not run this season Tocca Ferro-Excited about him being unleashed over hurdles, likely to start off over two and a half miles. Very much one to follow. Finished 3rd behind Bellvano on his first start at Newbury, then went on to win a novice hurdle at Southwell before finishing 4th in a novice hurdle at Kempton Valentine Vic-Horse to really look forward to over hurdles this winter. Could be something special when sent chasing. Won by 6 lengths on his hurdles debut at Taunton but was then beaten over 30 lenghts in a similar race nto. Vico-Should make a significant impact over hurdles this winter before going chasing. Came 2nd to the Triggerman on his only start over hurdles. Vino Griego-Could be Gary Moores next high class hurdler. Beaten 19 lengths at Ascot, he then performed much better to finish 3rd to manyriverstocross at Sandown before winning a novice hurdle at Wincanton in the mud. Could be one for the heavy weather Wishfull Thinking-Terrific long-term prospect. Won all 3 starts over hurdles this season albeit in lower class races than expected. Entered for the Coral Cup

Re: One Jump Ahead 2009/2010-Mark Howard I always buy the "OJA" and "Ahead on the flat", as much for brain food before the seasons start as anything. Most of his 40 go off at very short odds usually, Quwetwo was a cracking price. I always like his Anthony Bromley buys section and there are many leading stable tours long before the papers catch up. I'm still referring back to the book every week, just noticed one again today that I was going to check up called "An Siorrac" that is with Edna Bolger. For just under £8 they're among the best quality £for£ available. Not a patch on Punters Lounge though :notworthy
