Collecting Data for system ideas

How long do you keep tracking a losing system before consigning it to the bin? I have all these great ideas which I trial for a while only to realise it's not looking all that great although still too hard to tell in the longterm. Meanwhile I have another idea and all the while I'm still trialling this other failing idea. My heart says sling it as other things look more promising but my head says i need to continue collecting data for well over 200 bets just so I can say for sure that it doesn't work. What do you all do?
