Lingfield 29th Jan (AW)

Recommended Posts

1.40 Lingfield Super tough race Thunderstruck plugged on gamely from the front again last time out but will need a career best under a penalty and this looks tougher, mister green landed a gamble 2lengths ahead of december draw last time out and is probably likely to switch that form around today under a penalty especially with a light racing profile suggesting more is yet to come out of him. The other interesting runner has to be War of the Roses who is a lingfield lover with 15 runs and 5 wins and many placed efforts although never tackle this short trip around here has elsewhere and won and has now dropped 1lb from last winning mark and warranted to have needed the run last time out. 0.25pt e/w december draw 0.5pt e/w War of the Roses 3.25 Lingfield Rather weak affair but After the show wasnt beaten far last time out having been asked for effort far to late but full of running, he is on a very attractive mark right now having won off a 11lb higher mark than his current mark and Guest's horses in good form at the moment. 0.5pt e/w after the show 4.00 Lingfield Billy red is a reliable front runner who has won round here but winning from the front is tough and 6lb penalty looks a big ask round here where his winning margn last time was perhaps exaggerated by the race panned out. The interesting contender for me is Anne of Kiev who won well last time out considering she got a bad start and not the clearest passage through to winning and would suggest a 3lb rise might not be enough for a sort that clearly goes well fresher and looks very unexposed with 8 races with 2 wins and 4 seconds and looks a massive threat in a race that should be run true with Bill red in the field. 1pt e/w Anne of Kiev

Re: Lingfield 29th Jan (AW) 16.00 Lingfield; There's plenty of pace on here which should suit the Jeremy Gask runner Anne Of Kiev who's likely to be one of the best backed horses of the day. Although, at the likely prices, I'd like to opt for Hayley Turner's mount GARSTANG. The 7 year-old hasn't been in the winners enclosure for awhile now, but having been dropped another 2 lbs for his latest run, he could get very competitive off a mark of 75. The selection hasn't been at his best on his two appearances so far this season but they can be easily forgiven. The first came at Southwell when returning from a three month lay-off so he may well of needed the run. The latter came at Wolverhampton where the selection raced too keenly in what was a competitive handicap. On his latest visit to the course, GARSTANG was unlucky not to win off a mark of 77 when not getting a clear run at the vital time. This strongly run race should definitely suit and with GARSTANG more likely to chase the leaders than be held-up, lets hope he has already flown by the time Anne Of Kiev gets going.
