Pitmaster
The rules : Look at the ERA of the Startes. Back team, whose starters has better "Last 3 ERA" than "Overal ERA" and the opponent has worse "Last 3 ERA" than "Overal ERA". For example last night game : Arizona (top) - St. Louis (down) Starters | In-Depth | Starting Staffs Overall W-L Tm W-L IP H WHIP ERA AF AA OU Doug Davis (L) Adam Wainwright ® 5-9 6-7 8-9 9-7 98.2 95.1 119 112 1.75 1.56 4.29 4.81 3.6 4.9 4.9 4.6 6-11 7-7 Last 3 W-L Tm W-L IP H WHIP ERA AF AA OU Doug Davis (L) Adam Wainwright ® 1-1 1-2 2-1 1-2 16.0 18.0 26 21 2.19 1.56 7.31 5.50 6.3 4.0 5.0 4.3 2-1 1-2 This is wrong example because 4,81 is bigger than 5.5 but the correct exampples are above. gonzobad
Re: MLB System 2007 anybody knows what K means?or how to claculate it? it is used in the formula:Batting average on balls in play or "hit rate" (H-HR)/((IP*2.8)+H-K-HR)
RonStaples
Re: MLB System 2007 BABIP Batting Average on Balls in Play. This is a measure of the number of batted balls that safely fall in for a hit (not including home runs). The exact formula is (H-HR)/(AB-K-HR+SF). H=Hit HR=HR AB=AB K=Strikeouts SF=Sacrifice Fly
blank_frackis
Re: MLB System 2007 This is a good system, I've got into betting on baseball a lot recently and it's been quite exciting. There are so many statistical measures which predict future performance out there that it's a goldmine for anyone wishing to put money on it. In addition when you put money on it over here in the UK, you can find some pretty good odds as you can almost guarantee that whatever statistical analysis you've used to place your bet trumps whatever analysis the bookmakers have done. One bet I've been having luck with recently (and I mentioned this in another thread) is betting on there being over 5.5 runs in the first 5 innings of a game - you can get this at ladbrokes online. If you pick your starting pitcher matchups correctly you can be fairly confident of getting the right result (for instance two pitchers with ERA's over 5 pitching in a hitter's ballpark). The odds are often quite generous as well.
