Mar 19th - 11:45 Gombak United FC v Home United FC 5.25 / 3.69 / 1.60 Asian Handicap: Gombak (+1) v Home Utd (-1) 1.80 / 2.12 Gombak have started the season with one loss (0-1 at home to Geylang) and one win (3-1 away to Korean Super Reds). The opening loss at their new home, the Jurong West Stadium, really should have been rather different, Gombak dominating proceedings but unable to find a way through, poor finishing and an inspired goalkeeping performance from Fajar Sarib keeping the home side off the score sheet. Their next game also saw Gombak playing some captivating football against a youthful and exuberant KoreanSR, while their defensive line of Winston Yap and Ishak Zainol were impeccable against a lively KSR attack. The sending off of two KSR players probably turned the game in Gombak's favour, but it was little more than they deserved for their performance. Home have started off their season with victories over the two new league additions, an emphatic 5-1 home victory over Korean Super Reds and a 2-1 win away to Chinese side Liaoning Guanghuan. The win over KSR was perhaps typified by a goalkeeping crisis is the KSR ranks, the regular 'keeper Im Su Dong was laid low with illness so only made the bench, 19-year-old Kim Ji Soo making his S-League debut. However, the occasion obviously got to the youngster who was replaced after just 12 minutes beacuse of nerves, despite Im Su Dong still quite clearly suffering. Their win over Liaoning Guanghuan was less straight forward though. Obvioulsy aware of the attacking threat of Home United, LG sat back for the first 16 minutes trying to stifle the Home threat. However, after going behind, LG abandoned their defensive stance and began a more attacking period of play, particularly dominating the second half of the game, receiving their reward with an equaliser from the penalty spot in the 68th minute. They were denied further goals due to some resolute last-ditch defending from the Home back line before a quickly worked counter-attacking move brought Home United an undeserved winner deep into injury time. Having just joined the league last season, there have been only three meetings between the sides so far, the first two being played at the Home United stadium, where the scores have been and 2-2 draw and a 2-1 Home win. The solitary game played with Gombak as the host team, albeit in their old stadium, was a 1-0 victory for the Gombak side. Gombak come into the game in good spirits after their victory over KSR and with the return of Nigerian forward Gabriel Obatola, scorer of 11 goals last season. He's unlikely to start, but should be used in some capacity during the game, his physical presence being a particularly useful asset against a strong Home United defence. However, that Home United defence may be weakened by the absence of Kamarulariffin Abdul Karim, whilst important attacking players Shahril Ishak and Qui Li are also likely to miss out.. Home United manager KT Velu has also voiced concerns about playing two very competitive matches against two tough opponents with such a short period of time. Their match against Liaoning Guanghuan, played on a very tough playing surface, has taken considerable toll on the players and Velu is unsure about how his players are likely to react. In my opinion, the odds on the Gombak win are huge. They've played some very attacking and attractive football so far and are coming up against a Home United side, though having won both games, looked anything but assured in their last match when put under pressure by Liaoning Guanghuan. With Home's injury problems and their potential fitness problems after the tough game against LG, it could be the right time for a youthful and exuberant Gomabk team to get a decent result against them. Gombak should be looking for the win here, so that's where one of my points will be going, while I'll also be having 3 points on them via the Asian Handicap, where I'm expecting, at the least, a return on my money. All the matches between the sides have been very close so far and I'm hoping this will be no different. Gombak @ 5.25 - 1 point (10Bet) Gombak AH(+1) @ 1.80 - 3 points(188Bet)
