Re: Snooker: Welsh Open 2 outrights for me. 1pt ew P.Ebdon to win Welsh Open 16/1 Blue Square Peter Ebdon's in good nick at the minute. Having won the UK Championship he then made the quarters at The Masters and the semis in Malta 2 weeks ago. Whenever he's at his best he's always tough to beat but he's been scoring as well as I've ever seen him score I think. Looking at his draw he's definitely got a nice quarter. His 1st opponent will be either Andy Hicks or Dave Harold, and then others in his quarter are Anthony Hamilton, Steve Davis and Graeme Dott. That's a quarter he can definitely get through and then the matches get longer which tend to help him so Ebdon is well worth an ew punt here. 1pt ew A.Carter to win Welsh Open 50/1 Blue Square Ali Carter is another plaing quality snooker right now. It's been a while since he's been in the latters stages of a ranking event but his run to the semis in Malta will have done him the world of good. Hopefully he'll have gained the belief from that, that he can be a tournament winner and compete with the players at this level. It took an on fire Shaun Murphy to stop him there but there's nothing wrong with that as he won the tournament. Ali's quarter is quite nice for him too. Stuart Bingham or Joe Delaney will be his 1st opponent but he saw Bingham off at Wembley and there's no reason why he can't again. Then his quarter has Stephen Lee, Barry Hawkins and John Higgins in it. Higgins seems a problem but the last 2 tournaments he's heavily criticised his form and having only had a week to sort it out that might not have happened. Ali should be bouncing after Malta and I definitely think he's got it in him to have a decent run in Newport this week.
