Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Here goes...

Sport Ice Hockey
Event Timrå-Skellefteå
Selection Skellefteå+0.5 (Asian Handicap)
Strength 6/10
Date 27/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.23 (Back)
Reasoning Timrå started the season great and were league-leaders for a long time. Now they've had a couple of bad months and they're down to fifth place. Skellefteå has had an impressive season so far. Everyone expected them to end in 11th or 12th place, but instead they're fighting for a playoff spot and are 11 points ahead of 11th place. These teams have met four times so far this season with the awayteam winning all four games. Skellefteå have won in Timrå, 6-3 and 3-1, and I can't see any reason why they shouldn't win today either. Their motivation is higher than Timrå's and they've been a good away team all season. I really like this price.
Sport Ice Hockey
Event Lagnau-Basel
Selection Lagnau(-0.5) (Asian Handicap)
Strength 6/10
Date 27/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price Pinnacle Sports @ 2.01 (Back)
Reasoning Lagnau still has a slim chance of making the playoffs. In order to do that they must win a lot of the remaining matches including this one. Basel is at last place and will probably stay there for the rest of the season. Their awayrecord is awful with only one win and one draw in 18 games. Neither of the teams have been playing great hockey lately, but at least Lagnau picked up a couple of points winning last game in a shootout against Lions. 1 win, 1 loss and 1 SO-win for Lagnau against Basel so far this season. Lagnau looks to be the better team, or at least the less worse team. Basel are struggling away and Lagnau should be able to handle them at home.
Sport Ice Hockey
Event Mora-Färjestad
Selection Färjestad
Strength 5/10
Date 27/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price Bet365 @ 2.10 (Back)
Reasoning New league-leaders Färjestad travel to Mora and will try to get their 4th straight win. And they wont be going there alone. As many as 1000 fans are expecting to make the 250km journey to watch their team play. Mora are really stuggling and are now at 11th place with 6 points up to Djurgården at 10th. Färjestad are still missing some players including there leader in points, Peter Nordström, but Mora are also missing a very important player, Marco Toukko. I know that Mora need these points more, but considering the difference in class and the massive support that Färjestad will get I'm willing to go with an awaywin here. Playable down to even money imo.
Sport Ice Hockey
Event Malmö-Frölunda
Selection Frölunda
Strength 7/10
Date 27/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price Expekt @ 2.00 (Back)
Reasoning Frölunda are red hot atm, winning their last 4 games. They are holding the last playoff spot atm and they would not like to give it up. Mamlö will be playing in the qualification series this spring and without their best player, Carl Söderberg, I don't think they'll have much of a chance here. H2H looks solid for Frölunda with 3 wins, one in OT, and a draw so far this season. Frölunda has all the motivation here and their chances of winning this game are great.
Sport Ice Hockey
Event Brynäs-Linköping
Selection Brynäs
Strength 5/10
Date 27/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price Betfair @ 1.92 (Back)
Reasoning Brynäs have been very impressive so far. They are currently at 3rd place and a playoff spot is pretty much secured. Linköping started kind of slow, but got things going in the middle of the season. Now they are in big trouble though, losing 7 games in a row. They have a new head coach and now goalie Roman Cechmanek is gone too. Instead they've signed Rastislav Stana from Malmö. I don't understand this signing at all. Stana has not been impressive at all this season and I'm not sure he's a better goalie than Cechmanek. Stana is expecting to start against Brynäs. I think Brynäs will keep Linköpings nightmare going today.
GL all!

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Comet - Vålerenga Comet +0.5 at 2.35 (Bet365) It was a huge upset when Vålerenga lost at home to Frisk, 6-7, last round. It was Vålerenga's 2nd lost in 19 games away, and a clear sign that it actually is possible to beat Vålerenga. Comet knows that, they have beaten Vålerenga 2/3 H2H's this season, interestingly enough both away, and a fact that makes me try the hcp in this one. Comet are in ok form, with 3 wins last 5, and the two last rounds ended with wins. Comet are currently at 5th place but are looking upwards, 4th place may be possible to reach, they are 4 points away fom that spot atm. Vålerenga are of course favourites in this one, but Comet knows how to handle them, and 2.35 for Comet to get at least one point have a definite value. My others are Modo +0,5 at 1,71 HV 71 at 1,71 Färjestad at 2,05 Frölunda at 2,00 No write ups, for Elitserien.

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) I had a busy week, but I'm back today to write a couple of previews. I'll start with Ligue Magnus: Mont Blanc - Caen Mont Blanc to win (1.56 @ 10bet) Mont Blanc isn't playing in greatest form lately. Last round they were hosted by 9th Villard. They started the match in a best possible way. They were in a 0:2 lead. And then, they' ve stopped. Villard won the match 5:2 and Mont Blanc was completly powerless. The round before, they hosted 13th Dijon and won 3:2. It was a match with only a few goal chances and also not many penalty minutes. Two teams were, obviously, not motivated. The more important thing to emphasize is that Mont Blanc was dow 1:2 before the third period. The things could be better at Mont Blanc. In the other hand, Mont Blanc has 4 wins in last 6 matches and 4 wins in last 5 home matches: beside Dijon they were better then Angers (5th, in average form), Strasbourg (11th, this match was a start of 6 loses and one draw sereis for Strasbourg) and Grenoble (2nd, this was a great result, as they defeated 2:0 Grenoble one of the title aspirants). They've lost only to Chamonix (7th, in average form) and the result was 3:6. Mont Blanc is currently seated at the 8th position and they have most probably secured their place in the play-offs. The 4th place is 14 points away and out of reach, so the only motivation for them is to keep themselves above 9th place to ensure the home advantage in the play-offs. To describe Caen one would say: "Les Miserables". They are currently the worst team in Ligue Magnus and they are showing no signs of improvement. They are now 8 matches without a win (their last win was in the beginning of December) and their only away win was in the 2nd round (way back in September). Their goal diff. in last 5 matches is 13:30. Last round they were hosted by the 13th Dijon and easily lost 4:1. Their coach admits that the team is young and it's difficult for them to play the entire championship. Mont Blanc is not playing great hockey but for guests from Caen they will not need to play great. If there are some good odds on 'under 7.5', it could be valuable to try under, too. Caen is usually scoring 1 or 2 goals away and Mont Blanc scored 60 goals in 21 matches (3 on average), so under 7.5 is possible. Note: Bet365 has under 7.0 (I assume this is an error - it should be 7.5) at 1.76. Anglet - Villard Villard to win (1.86 @ Bet365) I'm playing this with a slightly smaller satkes. Anglet is the worst home team in the league with only two wins in 10 matches and Villard is quite awful away. The reason why I'm keeping this match with a slightly lower stakes is that it's hard to say how good Anglet is at home lately. Their last 4 home matches were against top teams (except 8th placed Mont Blanc) and they were given no chance in those matches. Villard is a team that could give them the chance of gaining some points at home. Villard is playing great at home with 5 wins in a row and goal diff 34:12. They are a different team away. They have lost 5 matches in a row with goal diff. 8:28. Something will change tonight. Anglet will finally win at home, or Villard finally will win away. Villard is definitely in a better form and Anglet's home matches attend 400-500 spectators, which is a lot less then last 5 Villard's away matches where they were hosted by 2000-3000 fans. Anglet is last on the table and 7 point short from play-offs. With 4 rounds to go their chances are merely theoretical. Villard is 9th and will be trying to reach the 8th position in last 4 matches to ensure home ground advantage in the play-offs. Briancon - Angers No bet Briancon were flying high before last round and then lost to Dijon at home. They will want to bounce back as soon as possible and probably will win today but the odds are laughable (at around 1.3). They are hosting Angers, the 5th team in the league. Angers is in a good form and in a last couple of matches they were defeating lower positioned teams and were defeated by better positioned teams. They will be trying to reach the 4th position which will ensure them some rest in the play-offs (they are 4 points short). Great chances for Briancon's winn, but the odds are too short as Angers could surprise (I'm even thinking of picking Angers at 4.50). Chamonix - Amiens Chamonix to win (1.92 @ 10bet) Chamonix is out of the crisis (2 wins in 11 matches) and lately is improving their results, especially at home. Theh've won 4 times in last 5 home matches: Briancon (3rd, in great form at that moment), Epinal (10th, poor form), Anglet (14th, last positioned with the form to match that position) and Caen (12th, awful form). They've lost only to Grenoble (2nd and flying high at the moment). Their goal diff. in those 5 matches is 26:17. The most impressive result is the win over Briancon which might have ended Briancon's good strike (will be known after today's match Briancon - Angers). Last round Chamonix lost away to Villard (9th positioned), which is not a shame since Villard is a good home team. In last 5 matches Amiens has 3 loses: to Grenoble (3:6), to Briancon (9:3) and Rouen (12:1). They have 2 wins (both at home): Anglet (it's very easy to beat Anglet) and Villard (awful away). Amiens is 6th and Chamonix is 7th. Amiens is one point ahead and neither team could reach the 5th positione nor can they lose 7th place. This match is only for prestige and I pick Chamonix because of their better form and, of course, home ice. Grenoble - Dijon Over 7.5 (1.83 @ Bet365) Grenoble is in great form. Last round they were hosted by the leader Morzine and have won 4:5 (they were behind 4:1). They are currently second but they want the leading position. They have 5 wins in a row and will gain the 6th tonight. Dijon is picking up their form and they are no longer the weakest side in Ligue Magnus. But that's not enough for Grenoble. The difference in class is huge. Moreover, Grenoble is playing on bigger rink and that won't be easy for Dijon (although they are great skaters). In last 5 home matches Grenoble scored 25 goals (they rarely score less than 5 goals per match) and Dijon is scoring 2 or 3 goals away (last round they scored 7), so the over 7.5 is very likely. Strasbourg - Epinal Under 7.5 (1.90 @ Bet365) This is a difficult match to call. Strasbourg is 11th and Epinal is 10th. Both teams are in quest for 8th position. Strasbourg has an advantage because they have 3 easier matches after this round and will collect a lot of points. Epinal has 2 tough matches ahead (Briancon and Epinal) and they feel Dijon's pressure to enter the top 12 for the play-offs. But Dijon will push out Caen and not Epinal. In last 6 matches Epinal has 2 wins (Dijon and Caen, which is not much). Strasbourg lost 7 matches in a row now. And they can't find the form on their new ice(4 loses in 10 matches). Strasbourg is nearly the worst home team (Anglet is the worst) and Epinal is the worst away team. I couldn't tel which way will the match go. Strasbourg haven't scored more than 3 goals for 7 matches now (and only once in those 7 matches they have scored 3 goals). Epinal is rarely scoring more than 3 goals (28 goals in 10 away matches) and under 7.5 is expected. Rouen - Morzine Morzine to win (2.90 @ Bet365) This is a big match. Morzine is first and Rouen is 4th. Rouen is a real flying-high team. They have 6 wins in a row with goal diff. 44:15. This season only two teams got points while hosted by Rouen. And Rouen is a high scoring team (over 5 goals per match). They are a real demolition machine lately. Morzine is the strongest team in Ligue Magnus. They haven't lost for ages. That is, before the last round. They've hosted Grenoble and lost 4:5, afetr 4:1 lead. They've played great for first 30 minutes and then made a few mistakes that costed them a match. Tonight they are playing with Rouen and the main question will they be mentally strong enough to forget the last round and to forget the fact that they haven't ever won at Rouen's ground. Morzine is the best away team in Ligue Magnus (only 1 OT loss in the season) and the odds at 2.90 are really high. This will be a tough (probably high-scoring) match. Last year's champions Rouen will want to end the season in style and Morzine will try to guard their leading position in the league. I'll pick Morzine at those odds with medium stakes.

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) British IHL: Basingstoke Bison - Cardif Devils Basingstoke to win (2.30 @ Bet365) This is a hard match to call and I'll go with small stakes. Basingstoke is not playing good this year. They have played 7 matches since Christmas and won only 2 of them (both at home: Edinburgh and Nottingham). Edinburgh gave them much trouble and they had difficulties playing their game plan. Their coach/player announced some changes in defence in order to simplify it untill they gain some confidence back. Last round they lost to Sheffield Steelers 7:2 but they don't have to be ashamed of that, because Sheffield is in great form. Round before they've defeated Edinburgh and before that lost to Hull Stingrays away (also not surprising as Hull is playing some great hockey). And 4 rounds ago, they lost to Coventry, another top team. They didn't have any easy matches lately and they will need to put a great game against Cardiff in order to stay in top 8 for play-offs. Cardiff is fifth and finally ended their 6 loses streak when defeated Edinburgh. They won 6:1, but everything is not in places, yet. They needed to pull out their goalkeeper (some say due to bad performance, but Cardiff claims due to small injury) and they played a 0:0 draw in the second period. And Edinburgh Capitals were awful. I'm not convinced that Cardiff Devils are back in the form and I'll pick Basingstoke to win this (I would say with the score 4:3, so it's hard to call uder/over). Belfast Giants - Manchester Phoenix Belfast to win -1.5 (1.67 @ 10bet) In this match, the question is not who will win, but with what goal difference will Belfast Giants win. Belfsat leads the table and they hold the control in their own hands. They've had a two-weeks break at the beggining of this year and had only 3 matches in January. First, they defeated Cardiff at home 4:0 (Cardiff is/was in crisis and it wasn't hard to beat them). Then, they hosted Hull and won 3:1 (this was a tough match, Hull is playing good and Belfast needed to play at full strenght to win this). In the last round they went to Cardif and defeated them again (3:5). Belfast had a few less impressive results in December, but that's behind them now. Manchester is in all kind of troubles. They were playing really good by the middle of this month (5 wins in a row). And then important forward Gomez announced his return to North America. His last match was 2 rounds ago away in Sheffield and Sheffield Steelers demolished them (4:0). Last round they went to Nottingham and lost 5:2. They had a good first period and that was all. They've signed left-winger Clouthier from Sheffield but he won't be playing before February 1st. In the mean time, Manchester is trying to regroup their lines and do their best, but the obvious problem is tiredness in last period. Belfast is a team with long bench and will probably take advantage of Manchester's tiredness (this will be their third match in a week). Second worry for Manchester Phoenix is their home ground. The facilities are not ready for re-opening and they had to postpone next two home matches untill their venue is finished and ready. All considered, this should be an easy home win. There could be only a problem of Belfast's motivation, but they have made that mistake earlier when hosting Edinburgh, so they'll probably take this match serious. Coventry Blaze - Hull Stingrays Hull to win (5.50 @ Bet365) Coventry is trying to catch leading position (2 points away). They are playing good but they are not an amazing team. In last 6 matches they won 3 of them (twice Edinburgh and once Basingstoke) and lost to Nottingham, Newcastle and Cardiff. Not impressive at all. Nevertheless, they are a great team and they are more than capable of winning today. in last 6 home matches they have won 4 of them with goal diff. 21:13. They are strong, they will want to win and they are favorites. But, they are hosting Hull Stingrays, the 9th positioned team in quest for position number 8 and a place in play-offs (2 point shor). Hull Stingrays is also playing good hockey lately and they are giving a lot of headache to their opponents. Three days ago they've lost in Cup to mighty Sheffield 0:1 and in the last league round they lost to Belfast (3:1, they hold a 1:1 draw untill the 50. minute). In other words, they've lost to 2 best teams in British IHL, but put a great performance. They've signed a new defenceman this week (James DeMone from East cost Hockey League, 6ft 6in, 230lb) and he'll have his debut in tonight's match. Hull Stingrays are surrounded with a positive atmosphere and with their fast skating they are certainly able of winning tonight. They have played two matches this season and Hull won both of them (2:3 and 5:3). I'll try Hull Stingrays at 5.50:hope Nottingham Panthers - Newcastle Vipers No bet Nottingham are favotites but not such as the odds would suggest (1.44). Nottingham has played 3 home wins in a row last two weeks. They are hosting 8th placed Newacstle Vipers. Newcastle is a solid team and in last 3 matches they have 2 wins (Cardiff and Coventry) and one loss (Sheffield). Newcastle definitely could get something out of this match. I'm still considering if it's worthed picking Newcastle Vipers at 4.70. Sheffield Stellers - Edinburgh Capitals No bet Sheffield is much stronger team and the odds at 1.41 for home win are good. The reason why the odds are so high is in the fact that they've played 5 matches this season and Edinburgh won all 5 of them. They are among rare teams in British IHL to have the cure for Sheffield Steelers. Another reason to stay away is The Bet. Capital's owner/coach has a bet with the Steelers' Simmsey: "The Capitals owner has a bet with the Steelers' David Simms that if the Edinburgh side win all 6 games against Sheffield then the 'Proud Englishman' will have to go on to the ice after the game dressed in a Capitals shirt and a Kilt to sing Scotland the Brave.":lol You have to love this league.

Sport Ice Hockey
Event Nybro-Växjö
Selection Växjö
Strength 6/10
Date 28/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price Centrebet @ 2.15 (Back)
Reasoning Huge game for both sides. Växjö can if they win take over the last playoff spot from Nyköping. Nybro need all points they can get to stay out of the qualification series. The big news for this game is that Växjö's star Steve Saviano is back after being injured 3 months. This is a local derby and quite a lot of Växjöfans will be watching this game. They are the stronger team and with Saviano back they should have a good chance of winning this one. The price is really nice imo. Playable down to evens.
Sport Ice Hockey
Event Duisburg-Hannover
Selection Hannover
Strength 7/10
Date 28/01/2007
Bookmaker/Price 10bet @ 1.74 (Back)
Reasoning Duisburg, as I've said earlier, are really poor. They lost against Frankfurt 2-3 in the last round at home and now Hannover are looking to get 3 important points here too. Hannovers situation is simular to Frankfurt's. They are at 9th place atm, just outside of the playoffs. This game is crucial and they really need to win this one. Duisburg are dead last with nothing to play for. Also, one of their few good players, Martin Bartek has left for Leksand in Sweden. 5-1 and 7-2 for Hannover in Duisburg this season...I'm expecting an awaywin here.

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) What a disaster!!! I had a great feeling about my picks today and ended totaly smashed.

I had a busy week, but I'm back today to write a couple of previews. I'll start with Ligue Magnus: Mont Blanc - Caen Mont Blanc to win (1.56 @ 10bet) Anglet - Villard Villard to win (1.86 @ Bet365) Briancon - Angers No bet Chamonix - Amiens Chamonix to win (1.92 @ 10bet) Grenoble - Dijon Over 7.5 (1.83 @ Bet365) Strasbourg - Epinal Under 7.5 (1.90 @ Bet365) Rouen - Morzine Morzine to win (2.90 @ Bet365)
Mont Blanc - Caen 2:2:( Luckily, I played under in this match also. But WTF happened there? Anglet - Villard 4:3:( Villard had 0:2 after the first period and lost to Anglet. This is a joke. Briancon - Angers 7:3 Chamonix - Amiens 3:3:( Chamonix managed to score a draw 25 seconds before the end. Grenoble - Dijon 3:4 OT:( This is not possible! Grenoble out-played Morzine away and then lost at home to Dijon. Strasbourg - Epinal 7:6 OT:( Epinal scored 6 goals away. This season they scored 5 goals once and other away matches they scored 2 or 3 goals. Strasbourg scored once 8 goals this season and rarely scored more than 3 goals in one match. Rouen - Morzine 7:2:( Morzine was demolished in the first period 4:0.
British IHL: Basingstoke Bison - Cardif Devils Basingstoke to win (2.30 @ Bet365) Belfast Giants - Manchester Phoenix Belfast to win -1.5 (1.67 @ 10bet) Coventry Blaze - Hull Stingrays Hull to win (5.50 @ Bet365) Nottingham Panthers - Newcastle Vipers No bet Sheffield Stellers - Edinburgh Capitals No bet
Basingstoke Bison - Cardif Devils 5:2:) Belfast Giants - Manchester Phoenix 2:3:( Manchester took 0:3 lead early in the match and Belfast out shoot them but were unable to score more then two goals. Coventry Blaze - Hull Stingrays 0:1:( Coventry had a lot of troubles, but managed to score in 55.05. Another good play for Hull Stingrays without a win. Nottingham Panthers - Newcastle Vipers 3:2 Newcastle was in 1:2 lead after the second period. Sheffield Stellers - Edinburgh Capitals 3:0 It took half an hour for Sheffield Steelers to take the control in this match. What a disaster. I have more blue people in one post than the whole smurf village. I could understand one result to go wrong, but two leagues to go completly wrong is absurd:wall

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Leksand - Södertälje Södertälje dnb at 1.945 (22,22% X at 4.50 and 77,78 % SSK at 2.50, Bet365) Södertälje are the best team in Allsvenskan imo, and they keep winning games even when they lack motivation and maybe have their thoughts on the playoffs. This game is different though, when facing Leksand away no team lacks motivation, and surely Södertälje will want to get revenge for the unlucky game last time in Leksand, when they lost 2-3 after o.t. despite being the better team for the most part of the match. Leksand have quite a few players injured, and the did not at all impress when winning a close homegame to Huddinge last round, so I think Södertälje will be too tough for them. It will probably be close though, so I choose to play it a bit safer with dnb.

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Huddinge - Sundsvall Huddinge dnb at 1,74 (Nordicbet) Both Huddinge and Sundsvall are in a bad position, Huddinge at 16th and last place, Sundsvall at 14th place, 9 points ahead of Huddinge, but with two more games played. This is not a surpsirse really, as both team were expected to have to fight for survival. Huddinge is better at that right now, although one have to really look to find positive signs. Huddinge have one win the last five games, at home vs Oskarshamn, but have been close the rest of the matches, except maybe for Västerås at home, 1-4. Sundsvall have 0-1-4 their last five, the draw was vs Björklöven at home, the others ones was lost with quite a big margin, closest was Södertälje at home, 0-2. Huddinge have won both H2H's this season, both after o.t. Considering this and that Huddinge seems to have the slightly better form, I think 1.74 for dnb is a good option. Huddinge home: 3-3-12 34-68 Sundsvall away: 3-2-14 30-77

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Wolfsburg - Bietigheim-Bissingen Home win @ 1.95 3bwin 3/10 The home team have managed to climb up to the 3rd place due to their great form of late. They are at 71 pts with only 2 pts up to 2nd placed REV Bremerhaven. In the last 10 games they have managed 7 wins, 2 draws and only one loss. I have mostly been looking at the home games since that's where they'll be playing today and they haven't lost since 061215, in fact, they haven't lost a pt since then. These are their home games since the last loss:

070119 EHC Wolfsburg - EHC München 6-3
070114 EHC Wolfsburg - ESV Kaufbeuren 8-2
070105 EHC Wolfsburg - REV Bremerhaven 3-1
070102 EHC Wolfsburg - Schwenninger ERC 3-2
061226 EHC Wolfsburg - Lausitzer Füchse 8-0
Kaufbeuren and Lausitzer are mediocre teams but the wins have been huge. The other wins are pretty impressive IMO. Schwenninger have been on form and Bremerhaven are the 2nd team in the leauge. Also München are no pushovers (9th place out of 14 teams). Wolfsburgs home stats are 11-2-5 and with a goal difference of +18 goals. The away team Bietigheim are at 5th place with 67 pts. In the last 10 games they have 5 wins at FT and another 3 in OT, hence two games lost. These are their last results:
070126 Bietigheim - Dresdner Eislöwen 3-2
070121 Bietigheim - Moskitos Essen 2-3
070119 Schwenninger - Bietigheim 0-5
070114 Kassel Huskies - Bietigheim 2-0
070112 Bietigheim - Lausitzer Füchse 5-3
070107 Bietigheim - ESV Kaufbeuren 6-3
As I've said before Lausitzer and Kaufbeuren are mediocre teams and not much can be said about Bietigheim beating them at home 5-3 and 6-3. The also lost against top tam Kassel and recently to Moskitos Essen (8th place) at home. In the following game they struggled to win over Dresdner Eislöwen (10th place). Bietigheim have an away record of 4-6-9 and a GD of -15 goals. The mutuals this season: Bietigheim won at home in September 2:1 and the other two have been draws at FT. Conclusion: In my opinion I think Wolfsburg have the better form and also their home stats by far outmatches Bietigheims away stats. Bietigheims form is not bad but I feel that Wolfsburg have been looking even hotter lately, especially playing at home. I don't think that motivation is a major issue since both teams are in a similar position in the table. Only a small stake today but evenso I have feeling that Wolfsburg is the team with the most quality.

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Iserlohn - Eisbaren Here I come with the Eisbaren again. This time they hardly affort another blow if they want to catch the direct play off spot. As we can see from the DEL table the batte for the 8 spot is between Eisbaren and Hannover, which are leveled at 67 points. Hannover play at Diusburg todat and we all expect them to win. So, that gives no other options but victory for the Eisbaren. Statistic is boring so I wouldn't write about it (http://www.betexplorer.com/hockey/germany/german-hockey-league-2006-2007/). Iserlohn must play without 4 regular players who missed last game (massive defeat at home against Krefeld 0:4), but it was 7 days ago. So, the Roosters had 7 days for a rest and training. On the other side is the Eisbaren, the title defender. Nobody in the club is satisfied with the current place on the table, form and the shape of the team. In Berlin newspapers journalists are talking about the bad relationships between the coach and players. Managment denise it of course, but how serious the professional players must be? I can't belive that someone can just refuse to do wath the coach tell's him to do. Altough this situation spoils the athmosphere in the squad I hope they will find the way to get over it. The good news for the team is that the ex NHL player Ian Moran from the reserve team of Anaheim is fit to plat today in defence. That could shake the team a bit in a positive direction. I simply can't belive that the Eisbaren could lost 4 consecutive games, especially in such an important game for the last direct play off spot. Eisbaren @ 2,10 in mylocal. GL :hope

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Let's do this again: Sheffield Steelers to win (2.26 @ 10bet) Cardiff Devils have only one win in last 8 matches. They've beaten only poor Edinburgh (6:1). Not so long go, they were among the top teams in British IHL and today they are 7th positioned and must think about securing their place in the play-offs (first 8 teams are going to play-off). Moreover, their player/coach was injured last night and probably won't play tonight. This week's win over Edinburgh Capitals was the first home win for Cardiff after 5 loses (Belfast - leader at that time, Sheffield - tough match in which Cardiff couldn't find the cure for Steelers' game, Hull - obviously Hull skates too fast for Cardiff, Nottingham - 3rd in the league and Coventry - the current leader). Those weren't easy opponents, but Cardiff should have gained at least something in those 5 matches. In last 8 matches Cardiff's goal diff. is 19:28 (including a 6:1 victory over Edinburgh). They are free-falling and they need to find their form fast or they'll be in much more trouble. Cardiff Devils will end this series of poor performances at some point, but it will be hard (if not impossible) to do this while hosting Sheffield. Sheffield Steelers are flying high these days. They have 6 wins in a row and are firmly positioned at the 4th position in British IHL. Everything seems to be going their way. They have signed Canadian Ryan Finnerty who had a debut last night and scored a leading goal. Their goalkeeper had 2 shutouts in 4 days (Edinburgh 3:0 and Hull 0:1). Sheffield Steelers had perhaps easier opponents last couple of rounds, but played great in every match. Their goal diff. in last 6 matches is 22:7. Their coach David Matsos is full of praise for his team and said for last night's match: "again we did the simple things right and limited scoring chances against us to a minimum". I find Sheffield Steelers as favorites tonight and I pick the away win at 2.26. Good preview of this match: http://www.thecardiffdevils.com/Content.asp?Ref=265 I'll write the rest of the previews when I'm back from lunch.

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Hull Stingrays to win (3.95 @ Bet365) Under 6.5 (1.80 @ Bet365) Will I ever learn? Obviously not. I'll pick Hull Stingrays one more time. Hull have played 5 great matches in a row, but obtained only 2 wins (Cardiff 1:3 and Basingstoke 5:2). They have lost to Belfast (3:1, two late goals), Sheffield (0:1, goal in 49.49) and Coventry (1:0, goal in 55.05). They have lost to three strongest sides in the British IHL and made them sweat for the points. All three matches were even sided and Hull had their chances. In all three matches they played defensively and closed all the doors toward their goal. I expect them to play more openly tonight and to finally score after 7 scoreless periods. They are skating fast and their defence is impeccable. The problem is that they have scored only 1 goal in last 3 matches. Hull Stingrays are 9th and 2 points short of play-off. They will do their best to win this match. Coventry Blaze is the leader of the British IHL and they are having a great chances of keeping this position in the regular season. They have same number of points as second placed Belfast Giants, but they have played 2 matches less. They have won 4 times in last 7 matches. In the last 3 away matches they have won only against poor Edinburgh. They are definitely not invincible and Hull Stingrays have the opportunity to prove that. My 'under' pick is based on Hull's statistics. Their goal diff. in last 3 matches is 1:5. And in the last 12 matches they stayed under 6.5 in 10 of them. This match also counts towards British Knockout Cup and Coventry have 1:0 accumulate. These 2 teams played yesterday and you can read the report here: http://www.coventryblaze.co.uk/news/display.jsp?catId=41&newsId=1718

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) OK, I've just spent 20 minutes writing a preview and the page for writing posts just refreshed itself and all my wisdom is lost:@ Newcastle Vipers to win by 1 goal exactly (5.50 @ Bet365) This match can go either way. Both Newcastle Vipers and Edinburgh Capitals have played their matches yesterday and both of them showed a poor performance. Edinburgh doesn't win easily. In 20 matches played at home they have won only 3 (+3 in OT) of them. They have scored 10 goals in last 6 matches. They play one good period per match. It was usually the first period. Newcastle is a solid team, but little off-colour in the last 3 matches. They are 8th in the league and only 2 point ahead of Hull. Those two teams are currently fighting for the place in the play-offs and Hull is in better form. In last 3 away matches Newcastle Vipers won 2 of them (Edinburgh and Basingstoke). In the British IHL Newcastle Vipers and Edinburgh Capitals have played 4 matches this season and Newcastle won every time (goal diff. is 12:6). They have played in Challenge Cup also (Edinburgh won 7:5 and Newcastle won 4:1). The way I see this match developing: Edinburgh will play good in the first period (1:0), Newcastle will play good in the second period (1:2) and they will be even in the third period. I'll pick with small stakes Newcastle to win by 1 goal and hope for the best:hope Those are all matches played tonight in the British IHL. I hope that I won't be having such a terrible luck two days in a row:hope

Re: Euro Hockey Leagues: Weekend (27-28/1) Jesenice to win first period (2.70 @ Bet-at-Home) It's getting harder and harder to find the odds for Jesenice to win the first period. My local bookie offers 3.00, but I haven't managed to find anything as good online. In last 10 matches Jesenice won the first period in 7 of them (they played a draw with Salzburg and Graz and lost it to Linz). Innsbruck won the first period 3 times in the last 10 matches. In last 4 H2H Jesenice won the first period (last time a week ago). Note: bet-at-home's odds are really low, so try to find odds at 2.85 or higher.
