The 'Get Shorty' System - Paper Trial

Recommended Posts

Going to be paper trialling a system which I read and has spiked my interest recently. . . .<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The system

Basically I’ll be ‘backing’ the shortest price horse of the day from the forecast predicted from the Racing Post. Selections will be backed using level stakes and I’ll also be noting down the results from a ‘coup’ staking plan out of interest. Within the sequence of bets as a whole, each coup is separate and staked accordingly to number of losses - When profit is shown on a ‘coup’ (however small), that coup ends and a new one is started. For the time being however I’ll just stick to level stakes but will post up the occasional update of the ‘coup’ staking plan.

The author of the system seemed to have most success from NH racing, but for starters I’ll throw everything into one bag and then paste them into AW/NH/Flat (although it may be a while before the latter gets any entries!) spreadsheets, enabling more detailed analysis as well as giving the picture as a whole. As we get more results together I’ll also post up the returns from the race types.

There’s obviously going to be some discrepancies versus Forecast and SP (and the many prices in between that the horse could potentially occupy during the course of the day). But for simplicity I’ll keep records of the returns from only F/C and SP (which in itself could be quite interesting). I will also be keeping records of the jolly priced as near to evens or above, as suggested by Zulu.

If there’s 2 favourites both carrying the same F/C price, I’ll use them both for the time being, may introduce some filters after a while depending on results etc. When the weathers bad like recently, I’ll also state a reserve (i.e. 2nd shortest horse) who shall be the selection if a meeting is abandoned.

Anyway, whilst I have no idea how this’ll turn out (badly probably!) it’ll be at the very least, interesting - - by the end of this paper trial I/we will hopefully have a reliable spreadsheet of where and when the short priced favourites win (or lose) and enough data to warrant whether this deserves any of my hard earned!

Now for the first day . . .

:hope
