Starting a system - has it been done before?

Found an old racing book last night (perfect toilet reading btw!) - in it was a racing system that really tickled my fancy - along with a 'ratchet' type staking system. Basically, the biggest odds on favourite was backed each day with an accompanying staking system for the inevitable losses. Just wondering if this has been done before? The results from the sample seemed excellent - and i would really like to get my teeth into it, If it hasn't, i'll give it a good ol' read tonight and post first selections tom to see how it goes.

Re: Starting a system - has it been done before? Sounds interesting mate. Odds on faves aren't the most reliable sorts though. Why not paper trail it for a couple of weeks and post up the results?
