I think Alan Fletcher (Karl from Neighbours) is justifiable as favourite here - I know people who've seen him play with his band and he's apparently awesome - but 6/4 best odds don't tempt me at all. Anthony Cotton (Sean from Corrie) is my tip to do well, 2nd favourite at 6/1 Stan James and I think that the popularity of his character, plus him being in one of the big 2 soaps, will help a lot. He also generally comes across as a nice guy in interviews, and still has a pretty big fan base amongst those who remember him in Queer as Folk. However, I'm running a competition (no odds, just picking) with my year 7's, to tie in with a data handling module, and they're solidly behind Jane Danson (Corrie's Leanne.) 49 picks yesterday, of whom 20 chose her!! They're at about the age where they're starting to vote (although god knows, they must have better ways to spend their money!!) and may be semi-reliable - or may be completely hopeless! I'm showing some faith in them, and backing her at SJ 10/1 for small stakes, plus even smaller ones on their joint second choices of Leon (14/1 SJ) and Hayley (7/1 SJ) So, 4 points Anthony 6/1 2 points Jane 10/1 1 point Hayley 7/1 0.5 points Leon 14/1

Re: Soapstar Superstar Well, Jane was a crap bet, but Anthony and Hayley both narrowed hugely - laid off a bit at Betfair. Have laid Anthony at 3.1 for 6 points (so 12.6 points liability.) Laid Hayley at 3 for 3 points (so 6 points liability.)
