Re: Cricket: South Africa vs India Test Series I think SA will win this series, India have never won a series in South Africa, they're yet to win a test in South Africa too and I'm not sure that's going to change in this series. This tour has not been particularly memorable for India so far although maybe the return of VVS Laxman and Sourav Gunguly will ignite a spark in them for what could be a fascinating series if India can bat well. I hope that's the case because my 1st series bet is 3pts ew VVS Laxman Top India Series Bat 7/1 Ladbrokes (1/5 1,2,3) VVS Laxman is a real class act with the bat. He's scored runs against every side in the world and on his day is impossible to get out. He'll probably always be remembered for his innings in "that" test match against Australia a few years ago but he's one of few Indians to have suceeded overseas. He'll enjoy these conditions, he seems to like pace and bounce and can play all the shots. Mickey Arthur - SA's coach has asked for fast, bouncy pitches for this series which would have been music to Laxman's lips. He's the vice captain for this trip and boy how India have missed him recently. He is durable and competitive and he's definitely a runner in the top score stakes particularly when many of his team mates will not enjoy the bouncy conditions. My 2nd series bet is 3pts ew AB de Villiers Top South Africa Bat 7/1 Ladbrokes (1/5 1,2,3) I'm a real fan of AB de Villiers. I think he's similar to Mike Hussey of Australia in his approach. He's very competitive but is a clever batsman. He takes his time to survey the scene, get himself in and then he looks to score runs. He's good against the spinners, which you need to be when playing against India and his temperament is 1st class. He's no stranger to the long innings as he already had 3 centuries to his name despite batting at 6. He very much reminds me of Jonty Rhodes, unlike Rhodes though de Villiers has been in and out of the side in the last 12-18 months and will be looking for a good series here to confirm him as a permanent fixture in the Proteas line up.
