What happens when ......

Recommended Posts

If I place a £100 bet at early odds, of say 17.00, with the intention to LAY nearer the off, at say 12.00, to trade-out, but in the meantime one of the favourites is declared a non runner and the odds on my selection 'drop' as a result of this non runner, how would I calculate a LAY stake to trade-out? Assume 'Rule 4' would have an effect. Normally I would BACK £100 at 17.00 then LAY £100 at 12.00, then 'green-up', but I'm not sure what effect the non runner would have on this and how I would calculate my LAY stake. Surely, it wouldn't be £100 after the declaration of the non runner!!! Can someone show the calculation of the LAY stake?
