Just thought i'd say a big "Hello" to you all, I reguarly post around the forum(s) but this is my first one in Poker . . . I'm a relative newbie in as much as I'm new to playing for cash online but have been playing with friends and for free online for a resaonble amount of time. I've won a couple of medium stake STT's and 1 small MTT. One thing still baffles me though, I can't get my head round in which situations a kicker comes in to play and in which situations the pot is split. In the past i've thought i've salvaged a split when in fact their kicker has won it and of course, the sames happened vice versa. Can anyone help?! :$ :$ :$ Cheers, seeyaz around.

Re: Hello and a question . . . Hi and :welcome to poker forum... You're the one with all the names, aren't you ?? :lol Well, your question.... The easiest way is to view the best hand made of 5 cards... that can be 3 on the board and 2 on your hand, 4 on the board and 1 on your hand or even the 5 on the board... If you and your oppenent have the same BEST POSSIBLE hand made of 5 cards it is a split pot... example: You: A 5 Him A 9 Board: A 4 4 6 K Split pot....!!!! best hand is: AA 44 and K is kicker.... because the K is a community card... Had the board been: A 4 4 6 3... he would have won... With: AA 44 and 9 kicker... because he out kick your 5... Hope that helped :ok Good luck at the tables :clap
