Starting Online Poker Site

Re: Starting Online Poker Site Had a little look into this a short while back, mostly out of curiousity really. Check out http://www.startcasino.com/ From reading this site, and a few forum threads elsewhere, the general consensus is that you'd need $750k-$2m to licence the software, get all the legal stuff sorted, and market the site effectively. Marketing/promotion could possibly use half (or more) of the total amount you spend. Also when considering marketing, you gotta be thinking about those extra special freerolls & deposit/loyalty bonuses to pull in the punters. Striking a deal with an existing site to become a skin could be the cheapest way to get involved.. and/or you could outsource for a lot of things, like support for example - a lot of the main operators (boss, tribeca, etc) use the same support accross their network. Also something to remember with regard to your operating licence - whilst it's now legal to run it from the UK, you'd be better off tax wise to base it elsewhere e.g. Gibralter Search around on the net for "Sinful Poker" too, it's a new poker site - the guys behind that are forum users elsewhere (can't remember where!) so you can pick up a few bits of info from trawling Google. There is also this interview from Card Player magazine which sheds light on a few things http://www.cardplayer.com/poker_magazine/archives/showarticle.php?a_id=14290 When it comes to users signing up and actually earning you money, the majority of players follow a similar pattern which you can use to forecast the revenue they should generate for you. Hopefully the company providing the software you use could advise with regard to projected revenue.. With the right marketing and promotions there's no reason it couldn't be very profitable, except for the problem of the already established competition - PartyGaming's market cap right now is around £5.47 billion! Maybe you would need to find a niche to exploit rather that going head-to-head with the big guns. Hope these ramblings have helped!!
