February 2025 Trainers to Follow

Poor start to the year, (£44.65) LSL for January.

February is traditionally a quiet month but we have 9 trainers to go to war with, 5 NH (1 Irish), 4 AW, 5 return after showing a small profit last February.

FEBRUARY TRAINERS

GB National Hunt

LJ MORGAN (CHASE)

Back for a fourth year, she was +£18.00 LSP in 2022 and +£5.00 in 2023, small loss last year so we're omitting her bumper runners.

  • 2021     4/6       67%     +£6.30
  •
  • 2022     7/17     41%     +£7.73
  •
  • 2023     3/10     30%     +£1.25
  •
  • 2024     1/2       50%     +£0.00

Loads of early price gains in the past two years, another where it will pay to get on early.

HENRY DALY (ALL)

Shropshire trainer, the star of the show last February with +£19.75 LSP.

  • 2021     0/12      0%      (£12.00)

  • 2022     5/18     28%    +£19.00

  • 2023     5/22     23%    +£  8.25

  • 2024     6/30     20%     +18.73

Really good last three years, hopefully dodge 2021.

ALISTAIR RALPH (NON NH FLAT)

Another Shropshire trainer, back from last year where he gave a small profit.

  • 2021      2/14     14%     +£20.00
  • 2022      2/14     14%     +£ 5.00

  • 2023      6/22     27%     +£14.05

  • 2024      3/15     20%     +£0.50

Decent set of figures in terms of LSP, our own figures were +£3.00 last year using early prices.  Stay away from his bumper runners 0/13 over the above period.

CHRIS GORDON (ALL)

Back from last month where he wasn't great, hopefully can make amends this month.

  • 2022     6/32     19%     (£0.50)
  •
  • 2023    11/36    31%    +£24.31
  •
  • 2024     6/22     27%    +£ 3.04

Would have made a profit in 2022 using early prices

IRISH NH

WILLIE MULLINS (HURDLERS)

No surprise to see this guy in the blog, will be setting his string up for a tilt at the festival next month and he’s had his hurdlers firing in February in recent years, the weekend DRF will give us plenty of action.

  • 2021     9/54     17%    +£ 4.53

  • 2022    14/39    36%    +£ 0.74

  • 2023    12/39    31%    +£ 9.83

  • 2024    13/44    30%    +£11.86

Our own figures were +£17.07 LSP last year using early prices which shows even with the big trainers you can pinch some value getting on early.

GB AW

CHARLIE APPLEBY (ALL)

Usually starts the year well, we’ve had him in January and February for the last Four years.

  • 2019     7/10    70%    +£  3.11

  • 2020     4/17    24%     (£  7.25)

  • 2021     4/8      50%    +£  3.22

  • 2022     5/19    26%     (£  1.47)

  • 2023     4/10    40%    +£  5.88

  • 2024     7/14    50%    +£ 0.72

We managed +£7.08 with EP in 2023, while he keeps showing a profit we’ll keep throwing him in.

ANDREW BALDING (4YO+)

AW top trainer last year and sits number 1 so far this year.

2021     3/13     31%     +£ 4.80

2022     2/6       33%     +£ 3.10

2023     2/10     20%      (£ 3.90)

2024     7/15     47%     +£24.15

A small blip in 2023 but really strong figures otherwise, remember just his older horses, his record is nowhere near as good with his 2/3 year olds.

CLIVE COX (4YO+)

A trainer that will appear a few times during the year with his juveniles, it's is older horses we are concentrating on this month though.

  • 2021     1/3     33%     +£20.00
  • 2022     2/5     40%     +£ 2.58
  • 2023     3/5     60%     +£ 2.91
  • 2024     3/5     60%     +£ 4.25

Unbelievable strike rate, he won't keep us too busy but should prove a useful addition.

ROD MILLMAN (ALL)

Devon trainer who I can't remember having in the list before, solid February figures in recent years.

  • 2021     3/5     60%     +£ 8.25
  • 2022     1/11     9%     +£ 0.00
  • 2023     4/20    20%    +£ 3.00
  • 2024     4/13    31%    +£ 9.83

A repeat of any of the above will do this month

As always, any questions, comments or observations please leave below, let's see if we can add to the kitty before Cheltenham!
