Big fight previews: 4pts A.Ward to win on points 13/8 Betfred This is the third time Smith will be in at this level and while there was a lot of controversy about his first fight with Abraham it shouldn’t be forgotten that although the scorecards were well out of line with the fight itself he did actually lose the fight. Abraham then exposed him next time. I’m not sure Ward will expose Smith. I think Smith will go in with a solid defence and a counter attack gameplan but I don’t see him being good enough to execute it. For me the question is whether Ward will stop Smith. He has only stopped 14 of his 27 victims and with 19 months out of the ring his timing might be off so I think there is plenty of value in Ward winning this one on points. 4pts S.Porter to beat A.Broner 10/11 William Hill Shawn Porter is naturally the bigger man here and could still have been world champion had he not run into Kell Brook on the wrong night. I don’t think we should hold that against him by any means. Brook is a classy operator who could go on and do big things in the division but Porter’s power interests me here. I don’t think Broner is a big puncher and once ‘Showtime’ Porter works that out I think he’ll start setting himself and letting the gloves go. Personally I’d have Porter a stronger favourite than he is so I’ll take him in this one.
