Newmarket 3:15 - Shadwell Joel Stakes(Group 2) (1) 1m Tullius probably sets the standard based on his recent runs in better company than this so the Andrew Balding gelding would be the horse I fear most. He started the season with a 2nd place finish in the Lincoln behind Ocean Tempest but he followed that up with a very classy win in a Sandown Group 2, putting Montiridge firmly in his place on the day. He then went on to finish 2nd to Olympic Glory in the Lockinge at Newbury and last time out ran another very solid race when 4th to Toronado in the Queen Anne. He is respected here but I am with the progressive Captain Cat who has a lot of finishing speed and he has progressed into a very nice horse this season. Re: Flat Racing > Friday September 26th Newmarket 2:40 - Shadwell Rockfel Stakes(Group 2) (1) 7f Lucida is the very warm favourite, a smart looking filly out of Shamardal traind by Jim Bolger who has had great success when bringing his top class horses across the water. She won on debut at Naas before rrunning Raydara close in a Group 2 at the Curragh over 7 furlongs last month. She finished very fast and late when second behind the very smart Cursory Glance in the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes just over a week ago and if she repeats that sort of form she will be extremely hard to beat. I have taken a chance on the value in the race, the Karl Burke trained Why Say You who is an unknown quantity but Karl thinks this is a Guineas horse which says something.
