Newbury 3:50 - Betfred Hungerford Stakes(Group 2) (1) 7f Chil The Kite (5/1 with Betfred) is going to be my selection for the race as he has really caught my eye of late. The 5 year old Hughie Morrison trained gelding won a good handicap here at Newbury over this distance (7f) comfortably back in May before going on to finish 2nd of 28 runners in the Royal Hunt Cup at Ascot when last seen. He is versatile with regard to the ground (goes on firm or soft) and he had been competing in Group 1 level in the past too. He finished 7th behind Declaration of War in the Queen Anne Stakes last year and was 4th behind Farhh in the Lockinge here at Newbury too. He comes here in good form and has had a little break so warrants respect. Re: Flat Racing > Saturday August 16th Newbury 2:40 - Betfred Tv Geoffrey Freer Stakes(Group 3) (1) 1m5f 61yds Given the form of the John Gosden yard this season, Camborne (12/1 with Betfred) looks a very appealing each-way price in my opinion. John can do no wrong this year, he is winning a lot of the big races every Saturday and he is having the time of his life at the moment. This horse is very quirky but when on a going day he can be awesome and although he had excuses on his last couple of runs, he has conditions to suit here. He actually beat Pethers Moon by over 4 lengths in a Group 3 at Doncaster last season and followed that up with a Group 3 win here at Newbury. If he can come back to that level of form, he will look a very big price indeed.
