Horse Starting Price Analysis

I am new to horse race betting having recently retired with time to look into how it all works. I have a background in analysis and statistics and decided to look into the profile of starting prices together with other race attributes to establish the ranking of probability for each horse in certain races for win, place or lay. Some very interesting yet reliable patterns have emerged which have enabled me to make a steady regular profit but i have a feeling that i am only scratching the surface of what can be achieved. Does anyone else share this approach and if so with what results? Also does anyone know where you can buy starting price data because it takes so long to record the Sporting Life data every day?

Re: Horse Starting Price Analysis Betfair provide their own starting prices, based on their Exchange prices. You might consider using that: http://www.betfairpromo.com/betfairsp/prices/ I've recorded results from both SL and RP for several years. They include industry SP prices.
