Haydock 3:30 - Pertemps Network Handicap Hurdle(Swinton) (Grade 3) (1) 2m Dubawi Island will find it tough to maintain his winning run in such a competitive contest but he doesn't look too badly treated considering how well he won last time out at Chepstow. Swing Bowler ran a blinder in the Scottish Champion Hurdle last time out, finishing 4th behind Cockney Sparrow and a repeat will surely see him go close with a nice 7 pound claimer in Mikey Ennis on board. He has also been dropped 3 pounds in the weights for that run which will only aid his cause. I had an each-way investment on Barizan here who won this very race last year and is only having his third run for the Donald McCain yard who will surely get a good tune out of him. She made basically all from the front that day, setting a strong pace, even though she was put under pressure most of the time by a prominent Mark Johnston runner. Yet she travelled extremely strongly, coming with a healthy lead into the home straight. The pack was after her and put her under pressure from 3f out, but she was able to find more and more. Eventually she tired inside the final furlong and was swept by the field but still it was a big performance in my mind. The drop in trip to 1m will suit tomorrow. She is still generally lightly raced and on a low mark. I expect a big performance if she is fine on the ground, which is my only slight concern.
