chris34
5.05 Lingfield Blue Wave has made a mockery of the handicapper this winter, further 2lb higher today so more needed but could well be upto it, although wide draw not helpful for a front runner. Grendisar can throw a wobbly run in every now and then which is a slight concern but impressive last time out over CD, 5lb rise tough though. Stepping Ahead looks held by the handicapper at present. Presburg is hard to get infront and has his quirks and still 7lb above last winning mark. Duchess of Glazeley was not beaten far after a 3 month break last time out over 2mile around here, runs off same the mark here today over a much shorter trip which seems strange but should have come on for recent run and should go well. Shavansky looks the value in a competitive race, he comes from an unfashionable yard hence why his price looks inflated some what. He has a good record on the AW 4 wins and 3 2nds from 15 runs, 2 wins from 6 around here. Yet to win at this trip but as he is getting old he has continually shaped as if further is needed. His latest effort is better than finishing position suggests finishing well from off the pace, Birkett takes back over and claims the 5lb again and she has got on well with him in the past and he has won off higher marks in past. Good draw and yard in form. 1pt e/w Shavansky 16/1 vc 6.30 Wolverhampton A class 7 handicap for stayers says it all hard to be confident about any of these. Laylas Boy is 1 from 51 starts and that just about says it all he is incredibly lazy and moody and easy to swerve. Gold Madchen was a winner last time out which has to count for something in this field but never scored back to back and 2lb rise is nothing more than fair and probably best avoided at short prices. Beggers Belief is 1 from 1 around here over much shorter but has finished 4th over this trip at Kempton twice recently, more needed still though. Jewelled Dagger can go well fresh but record on the AW is appalling. Olivers Gold was last seen in August over hurdles beaten soundly having previously won twice, returns to the flat on a good mark at his best although yet to win on flat also has no record fresh. Again a Rod Millman horse looks worth a bet at the prices Ice Tres had shown a reasonable level of form when twice second over CD around the turn of the year. 2 lesser effort recently tamper some enthusiasm but small excuse of trip on both especially last time out when just fading out of it over 2f further, handicapper been very reasonable dropping him to a mark of 50 1lb below last neck 2nd over CD and drops into class 7 company for first time with Martin Lane back on board and a reasonable draw, just looks over priced again. 1pt e/w Ice Tres 12/1 VC
