Flat Racing - Monday 8th April

14.50 Kempton: Aegaeus @ 7/4 Ladbrokes - 7pts win This 77 rated gelding came to my attention for the first time last November in a Handicap at Lingfield when he was pretty unlucky not to win the race, finishing in a way suggesting he could be much better than his mark and actual form. He won after that a maiden, a form that works out very well and he was put away for the rest of the winter. There are some positive vibes about him from the yard and I think he can turn into a really nice handicapper this year, exploring his lenient looking mark as I feel he has a good deal in hand. 16.50 Kempton: Midnight Feast @ 7/1 Ladbrokes - 2pts win It was a huge performance by Midnight Feast here at Kempton in a better race lto when he was wearing blinkers for the first time. He got bumped right after the start yet secured a very prominent position early on, racing in third position close to a fast pace. They really went a decent gallop which is confirmed by the eventual winning time which was 0,31s faster than the standard. So it wasn't a surprise to see the front pair dropping away, but Midnight Feast battled on really hard to finish a decent 3rd eventually. This form works out quite well, so this return to form looks serious and as he slipped down a long way in the mark he looks now to be really competitive to win finally another race. He has the benefit of a good draw tomorrow and drops down in class, so every chance for a big performance.

Re: Flat Racing - Monday 8th April 4.50 Kempton Very open looking handicap with several horses that are holding their form well recently. Lutine Charlie ran a good race on recent return from a break, that perhaps wasn’t the best race and will need to come on again for the run to feature in this with handicap mark looking high enough. Duke Of Destiny is lightly raced and should appreciate this return to 7f but the long breaks in his career are a concern along with a wide draw. Midnight Feast is another that ran well after a recent break, had dropped a long way in the weights after a poor season last year, the concern is the only win has come in a maiden and no denying he is on a potentially lenient mark but still something to prove and back that effort up. Spin Again has largely held his form well this winter but finds winning hard recently, was close 2nd to West Leake on last appearance at Lingfield and gets a 3lb turnaround so could turn that around but well below par last time out on turf when unable to get anywhere near the front. Pastoral Jet is another that has largely held his form this winter although handicapper is perhaps starting to look in charge at the moment. Burgoyne runs 2 in this race and both have been in good form recently. West Leake has been consistent all winter and finally rewarded for that consistency on penultimate start, up 3lb for that and ran well in a race that probably didn’t really suit last time out but up another 2lb but is still capable off this sort of mark if getting some luck and a good pace although stall 9 around here not ideal. He also runs Teen Ager who isn’t perhaps quite as consistent although often runs his race. He too needs a strong gallop and some luck but when getting all that he is a capable performer as seen last time out when extended fairly smartly and not always as convincing as that so that goes down as a smart performance and although a 6lb rise demands a lot more this mark isn’t beyond him at his best, a good draw in stall 2 and looks massively overpriced at 9s. 1pt e/w Teen Ager 9/1 bet365 5.10 Wolverhampton Mazij has fallen a long way in the handicap and took advantage last time out this race demands more with a few that have a few less miles on the clock. A 4lb isn’t excessive and has won off higher marks and the 2nd boosted the form the other day. William Van Gogh has gone up 8lb for winning last time out over the extended mile around here winning with great ease against another inform sort but major worry is this step up in trip given he has looked to fail to stay this sort of trip in the past. Thane Of Cawdor is unexposed at these sort of trips and has looked a tad unlucky at times in the past, everything fell right last time out and scored convincingly infront of Lytham who is a solid benchmark, up 4lb for that effort but isn’t fully exposed and could have more to offer at these sort of trips. 2pt win Thane Of Cawdor 5/2 bet365
